Chapter 4: The First Prophet
In the silence of the night in the Aichi district all seemed to be calm. Most of the people had long since gone to sleep, there surprisingly weren't any villain attacks in the entire district that day, and even the birds seemed to be more relaxed than usual. But this was not meant to last.
There was a small trail of flames that led to an unassuming two-story house in a more expensive neighborhood, the flame trail having a slight smell of alcohol. The trail was beginning to spread further, making its way to the open entrance of the house, where the sound of hissing(?) could be heard inside.
A few seconds later, as soon as the witching hour had struck, there was a loud explosion that shook everything in the several blocks that surrounded the house. Many that lived near the house quickly exited their homes to see what the source of the noise was, only to see the building completely engulfed in flames.
A few of them had already begun to rush to call for the firefighters, while the rest, who lived closer to the house, rushed to try and keep the fire from spreading to their homes by any means they could. All the chaos of people running around like headless chickens, and the fire that roared uncontrollably, were witnessed by a lone blonde kitten who sat in an alley two houses away from the fire.
'Ya'know, causing chaos feels pretty damn fun! Especially when I get to destroy the stuff that belong to the people I hate!' The blonde kitten thought with a small smirk, before walking away from the area.
'I wonder why Himiko never tried doing this? This makes sneaking around a fuck ton easier!' The kitten thought happily as she ran along the road, which would eventually lead her to the Nagano district if she kept going at this pace for five hours straight.
[Answer: Himiko Toga was not able to consume enough blood of any animal to discover this function of Transform]
'Well, that makes sense. That bottle was as big as my whole torso, and I had to drink more than half just to activate it!' Yeah, if it wasn't obvious already, this kitten is me. A few hours ago the system told me that if I drank enough blood from the 'vial' that I was given, something interesting would happen.
'By the way, why the hell is it labeled as a vial when it was that fucking big? Last I checked a vial is supposed to be tiny!' I thought as I almost stumbled on my paws, which I was still getting used to. Turns out, walking on all fours took more focus than I thought it would.
[Answer: Apologize, the item's size was compared to the System's Creator, hence why it was labeled as a vial, instead of a bottle]
'Just how big is your creator, dude?' I wonder what this system's creator is like? Did they only make it for a source of entertainment, or am I just meant to be a pawn in a much bigger plan?
[Answer: As a reference, the System would say that she is much larger than Gigantomachia]
'Damn! And here I thought nobody could be bigger than that fucker!' Seriously though, one of that dudes teeth are bigger than me! So, if what the system says is true, that means that I'm practically a grain of sand in front of a woman like that!
'Anygay! Now that I got that house out of the way, and have successfully left without a trace, all that's left is to figure out where I should go next!' I may be cool with being homeless again for a while, but that doesn't mean I want it to stay that way. So, I'll need to figure out who I should try using to get a roof over my head.
[Query: Would the Host like to see the minor rewards that were given for burning the house?]
'Eh? I can get rewards for doing shit like that?' If that's the case then maybe I should burn down a couple more houses. Though, at that rate I might just become a pyromaniac.
[Answer: Affirmative, as the Host has altered the world's plot by 0.01% and caused a great deal of chaos in several peoples lives. Though, it is unwise to repeatedly do such actions as it will lead to rewards being less likely, even with quest]
'Yeah, that makes sense. It would be dumb to keep giving me rewards so easily. Go ahead, give me it.' I thought while trying my best to jump onto a nearby car, though it was taking a bit since I was still not being completely used to this cat body.
_____________
[Congratulations! You have gained the following:
Minor Skill - Parkour Expert
???? - Prophet's Vision
Would you like to accept the seeds of chaos?]
[Skill:
Parkour Expert - Gives the user incredible flexibility, extraordinary control over the user's own body, and amazing hand-eye coordination]
[????:
Prophet's Vision - Grants a vision of the future that will benefit the Host to two chosen 'Prophets']
_____________
'That vision thing confuses me, but, yes, I accept them.' I shouldn't have agreed to it while I was in the middle of trying to jump onto the car again, because I was instantly hit with a wave of info, and crashed right into the car's hood.
It felt like everything from how to climb a tree to scaling a damn mountain's worth of buildings was just being shoved into my head. Hell, it was even just my mind that felt like it was going haywire, because my muscles felt like it was forced to memorize every way to perform these actions. All of this, combined with me hitting the car, meant that I was having the mother of all headaches and wasn't able to move for a good while.
'Fuck... Why did it have to hurt that much...?' I ran one of my paws over my still throbbing head, luckily that didn't knock me out of my transformed state. Because I do not want to be butt ass naked in the middle of a street, since I couldn't wear any clothes while in this form.
[Answer: To properly use the skill it was necessary to funnel the information of the skill into the Host's mind, and make the Host body able to perform the actions linked to the skill]
'Once again, no pain no gain... gotcha...' So, if I want anything fast I better prepare to feel like I got hit by a freight train, fuck.
I don't like having to feel this type of pain, since I'm not familiar with it at all, but I won't say it isn't worth it. 'Cause as soon as I looked back up, I could practically see every way to move in a more effective way around my surroundings. It was kind of like someone turned on hints in an open world game.
The worth of what the system did was proven even further when I was able to jump onto the car in front of me, and then easily make my way on top of the house that it was parked next to. Damn, it makes doing this feel so natural, almost like I've been doing it all my life.
'Fucking hell, how is this considered a minor skill? And what about the second thing?' While I questioned the System I started to jump from house to house, and use some trees here and there, to get back to making my way to nowhere.
[Answer: A skill is considered Minor when it is incapable of growing, being fused with another skill to become more powerful, or aiding the Host in a battle against a planet level threat. As for the Prophet's Vision, it requires the Host to actively choose their Prophets from a list of candidates, afterwards the chosen candidates will be shown two different visions]
'Alright then, show me the list.' It only gave me the list of Prophet candidates when I stopped jumping around and sat on the branch of a tree.
'Let's see, who should I choo-' The moment I looked at the list I noticed two things that stopped me before I could think another thing. The first was just how massive the damn thing was, if it were to be stretched past my view I think every name and picture there could blanket an entire city easily. The second was that I don't think I recognized a single name or face on the list of candidates.
'System, why is the list this big?' Seriously, how!? The names and photos are so small that I need to squint to see them, and it still blocks my view well over a hundred times!
[Answer: Apologize for the insufficient amount of candidates. It seems that less than 1% of the world's population meet the criteria to be a Prophet candidate]
This is less than one percent!? What the fuck!? How?! 'I... alright then. Can you show me the ones that are important people, or people that I might recognize?' Better change the subject before I lose my shit!
[Answer: Understood. Updating candidate list]
After it said that the big mass of info started to drop faster than, well, I don't have a good analogy, but you get the point, they dropped fast as hell. And, after a few minutes of watching the info get erased, I was left with only ten candidates, two of which were the only ones I recognized.
'Ibara Shiozaki, and the man known as Sir Nighteye, Mirai Sasaki. Honestly, I'm not surprised.' And why would I be? One is probably the most religious character in MHA that isn't a part of a cult, and the other can literally see the future.
[Query: Would you like to pick these two candidates as your Prophets?]
'First, is there a chance for me to become a goddess, or something that could be considered a divine being?' Might as well ask, since I have seen in a couple fanfics where a system user becomes a god or some shit. So, if there's a chance for me to become one, well, it won't really change much, but it'd be nice to know.
[Answer: Affirmative. The Host could become a Goddess]
'Alright then, I choose these two as my Prophets then! Nighteye would be useful in a good number of ways, and Ibara would get some vindication with her religious beliefs.'
[Understood. Distributing the visions to the first chosen Prophet]
'Welp, if that's all, I'mma go find a place to sleep at tonight.' That was my last thought before I jumped off the tree branch onto the next house to continue on my path with no real destination.
_____________
[3rd POV]
_____________
But, while our protagonist was minding her own business, there was a single man that night who would be having quite the interesting 'dream'.
The first thing that he saw when he 'opened' his eyes was what looked like a warehouse that appeared as if it hadn't been used by anyone in a while. Though, strangley enough there seemed to be the sound of a child crying inside, as well as the screams of a grown man.
He couldn't properly hear what was being said in there, but, judging by the location and the anger in those screams, he thought that this meant nothing good. He wanted to go to the warehouse, because he was growing more concerned as the crying went on. But, he couldn't move a single inch.
'What's going on, I remember going to sleep, and now I'm here? Is this someone's quirk? Since it's obviously not mine. But, nonetheless, why show me this?' Mirai Sasaki, thought before his surroundings shifted to show the inside of the warehouse, the sounds of the screaming and crying be a lot clearer now.
"Jesus fucking christ, kid! Shut the hell up! Nobodies coming to save any of ya, so all your crying is doing is getting on my damn nerves!!" A man yelled to the crying child, before he went and looked back at a briefcase with an unknown object inside.
The man, if he could even be called that, was almost impossible to make out, everytime Mirai tried to look at the mans face it felt like he was looking a constantly warping mass of nothing. The same could be said for the child (children?) who was curled up in the corner of the warehouse across from him. While behind him there were a few other men, one seemed to be on a computer, while two others were carrying some large box, and the last ones were playing a game of cards.
Mirai tried his best to take in every bit of detail he could, since he couldn't do anything, and for all he knew this may be needed later. But a moment later they all heard the sound of breaking glass, which was followed by a ring coming down from the roof of the warehouse and wrapping around the throat of the man who was yelling not too long ago.
"What the he-!?" Was all the man was allowed to say before the ring pulled him up into the air, causing him to begin choking as he hung from the ring.
"Tell me... Have you prayed today?..." Asked a girl that jumped down from the broken skylight.
At first Mirai thought that this might just be a kid that was trying to play hero. But that idea was quickly replaced with only confusion and curiousity, when he saw what looked like a halo over her head, and saw a pair of red wings coming out of her back.
'What? Is that an Angel quirk?' He has heard about some quirks giving a mutation that relates to some religions, but those are so few and far between that when one of those quirks appear in a country it becomes a major topic, even among heroes.
So, seeing this blonde little girl in front of him with a quirk like that, made him question how he hadn't heard of her yet.
Before he could question this situation further the girl spread her wings, and went on the attack by dashing towards the other men in the room. One of them looked like they were about to pull out a gun, but he was knocked to the ground when the man that was in the air prior was thrown at him by the ring around his throat.
The next second the girl jumped into the air as one of the men used their quirk to cause the ground beneath her to become jagged and sharp in an attempt to stab her. Using her wings to move towards that man who just tried to stab her, she seemed to be going for the kill, but then Mirai's surroundings shifted again, keeping him from seeing what happened next.
Now he was seeing what looked like a war zone, all the surrounding buildings were reduced to rubble, he could hear some people screaming out for a hero to help them, and in the middle of it all was a single man. A man that wore a suit and a strange mask, a man that seemed to radiate danger, a man that could only be one person that Mirai has only heard about.
'All For One...' This was the man that All Might needed to defeat, the man that would plunge the world into pure chaos if he wasn't stopped, one of the most dangerous villains this world has ever seen.
"Pfft-! Hahahaha! Wow! You really think your, Him, huh?~ Jesus, you are so fucking pathetic!" Laughed a voice that now sounded familiar to Mirai, because he had heard it not long ago.
Looking towards where AFO was facing, he saw an older version of the girl he had seen before, but now she was dressed in a dark red suit and her eyes were now a blood red. She still had that same halo over her head, but now she looked more like a demon rather than an angel. But, next to her, Mirai, saw the only man that he thought could defeat the villain in front of them, All Might.
"Um, young Himiko, I do not think it's wise to antagonize a villain, especial-" The number one hero was saying before he was stopped by the teenager next to him.
"All Might, I don't give a fuck. We both know you aren't in any condition to fight, so go evacuate the civillains. I'll deal with the big bad villain." The teenager, now known as Himiko, waved off the heroes words with a smile, much to Mirai's shock.
'How could she think she can fight someone like All For One, does she not understand the situation? And what does she mean All Might's in no conduition to fight?!' He had so many questions here, but there was no one to answer any of them. All he could do was watch as All Might actually listened to this girl and left to go evacuate the nearby civillains that needed help.
"My my~ Has your little victory against my subordinates made you believe you can defeat me-" The villain was cut off by the same teenager who brought out a pen(?) from who knows where.
"Oi! Speak properly dude, I can't hear you over the sound of you sucking your own dick!" While she said this she seemed to start writing something on the air itself with that pen in her hand. Which confused Mirai even more, as he thought her quirk was something related to angels, so what is with that thing?
"Oh? I wonder what your daughter would think about her mother saying such vulgar words?~" AFO said in a mocking tone, which made Himiko stop her writing in the middle of whatever it was.
'Huh? Is this girl a teenage mom? What am I missing here?' Mirai thought as he watched the girl make her pen disappear into thin air, before a card, talisman(?), appeared in her other hand a moment later.
"You know... I was going to make your death quick and painless... But now... now... I'll make you die a dogs death..." The look in her eyes made a shiver go up Mirai's spine, as it could only be described as the coldest and purest form of rage that he had ever seen.
Watching her tear the object in her hand in two, Mirai saw as a strange energy expanded from it, until it completely surrounded the villain and the teenager. The next second it turned into a barrier that had the images of skulls all around it.
"W-what is this? Why can't I- why am I-?" The most powerful villain in all of Japan said before his body seemed to start getting increasingly older, causing him to fall to his knees as his legs gave out.
"Oh? Scared now? Well, you're right to be. This is a special little thing I made to kill someone like you. Inside here all quirks become useless, making any and all people with a quirk inside essentially quirkless. So, thanks to that your body is no longer being kept going with all those quirks you stole, and in a matter of minutes you'll die from old age." She said while she slowly walked towards the rapidly aging man in front of her. Though, her halo was still there, which confused Mirai, since that went against what she just said entirely.
'Is that not a part of her quirk? How is it still there? How could she even make something like this?' These were the newest questions on his mind while he saw the girl kick the villain in the stomach, causing the man to fly into the barriers wall.
"Also, there's no way to break this barrier once it's up. The only way to leave is for one of the people inside to die. Which is why I've dubbed it, Death's Trap Card, it may not be the most creative name, but it still gets the point across." She said while watching All For One cough up blood, because of her kick, with a blank expression.
"You know, once upon a time I actually did fear you, I feared the idea of the big bad Demon Lord, coming for me and destroying everything I wanted to make. But, after all the death I've seen, the death I've had to cause with my own two hands, I realized something. If I want to surpass you, and everyone like you, to have the happiness I've been craving for so long with my family, I should become something greater than a demon lord." She went closer to the villain, and tore off his mask to show an old decrepit man who had no eyes or nose to speak of. It looked like he had one hell of a fight long before this 'fight'.
"So, I won't be the hero of this story, I won't be the angel sent from above on behalf of some higher being. No, I'll be the goddess who actively comes down to smite those that seek to destroy the happiness of me and my family." She grabbed All For One by the throat and lifted him up into the air, the villain being far to weak now to do anything but try his hardest to keep breathing.
"From here on out, I will make it my personal mission to end every connection you ever had, and end every single bastard who's just like your sorry ass. And, that includes those sorry excuses for Gods, and those corrupt bastards in the Hero Commission." She said before those same red wings Mirai saw before sprouted from her back, only for one of them to stab the Symbol of Evil in the stomach, which seemed to be the final blow before his body completely gave out.
Mirai had no words as he watched the barrier finally begin to disappear, proving that AFO was now dead. He just saw a girl, a teenage girl, kill the most dangerous man in all of Japan like it was nothing, and also showed that whatever this 'angel quirk' he thought she had may not be a quirk at all.
All he could was witness as the scene shifted again, now showing the same teenage girl as an adult sitting on a throne that looked like it was crafted by a dead tree and the skulls of the deceased, with that halo still present over her head. But, now, now she had a completely different aura about it, if before she felt like a tiger cub that could grow into a fierce beast, now she felt like what Mirai would think a true god would feel like. She radiated a divine aura, which seemed to mixed with something chaotic, and something that made the hero look at her with fear for his own life.
"So many battles, so many deaths, so many wars, and through each one I came out on top in the end. All so I can finally have my peace with the ones I love so dearly. I stand now as not Himiko Toga, not Eve, not Typhoeus the Father of Monsters and King in Red, but as Terminus the Mother of the End, the one who will be there when all things come back to the abyss." She said with an almost nostalgic tone in her voice as she looked off into the distance, before suddenly looking down at Mirai, as if she knew he was there the entire time.
"Now, tell me, Mirai Sasaki, did you enjoy seeing those bits of my story?" The look in those red eyes of hers didn't hold any of the rage that he saw in her teenage self. Instead, all that her eyes showed was genuine curiousity in his opinion of what he saw.
'I- what are you?' But, he couldn't really answer her question as he didn't know what to think about what he saw. So, insead he took this chance to ask one of the many questions on his mind, he just hoped she could hear his thoughts, since he couldn't speak.
"Well, currently I am a Primordial Goddess, who rules over many things now, but in your time I am merely a child. A child who only wants to live a happy life, and is desperate for someone to love me." She replied, not seeming to be bothered by her question being answered by another question.
"Now, since you are finished with your visions of the future, I'll send you back to your body. After all, there is much work to be done... for both of us." She said before she raised her hand and snapped her fingers, making everything go black for him.
The next moment, when he opened his eyes again he saw that he was back in his bed, the sun was already starting to rise and was peaking in through his window. He didn't know if what he saw was just someones quirk messing with his mind, or if that was really a vision of the future, all he knew was one thing.
"I need to tell All Might and Nezu..."
