Chapter 10: Chapter 10
GROUND BETA
They stepped out onto the training field one by one.
Mina's voice broke through the noise.
"Yo, Reiji! That costume is sick. Like, Runaway model."
Sero added, "Dude looks like he walked out of a movie."
Reiji: "Nah. Just walked out the locker."
His Hands loose at his sides. Shoulders square.
All Might stood tall in front of the class, sunlight catching the silver of his costume.
"They say clothes make the man! Or, in this case young men and ladies!" His voice echoed across the training ground. "Behold! From here on out you are heroes."
The class stood in a loose circle, still buzzing from the reveal of their hero costumes.
"Now, shall we begin the training?" he asked, hands on his hips.
Tenya raised a hand. "Uh, sir what exactly are we doing?"
All Might laughed. "Excellent question! young tenya Today's lesson is indoor combat training! Most fights don't happen in open spaces they happen in cities. Buildings. Crowds. You must learn to fight with control and awareness!"
"We'll divide you into pairs," All Might said. "You'll choose roles: hero or villain. Villains will guard a mock weapon of mass destruction. Heroes must stop them and secure the weapon before time runs out!"
Reiji's eyes narrowed slightly.
So we're fighting each other… Easy enough. Do I go full out and end it quick or hold back and see how they fight? It's training, after all.
Hands shot up around the circle. The noise spiked.
"Wait, how do we know who's hero or villain—?"
"Do we get to use our Quirks at full power—?"
All Might raised a hand, a bit frustrated. "I wasn't finished talking."
The questions stopped.
"To decide teams and roles," he said, "we'll do a random draw!"
Match 1
Heroes: Izuku Midoriya & Ochaco Uraraka
Villains: Katsuki Bakugo & Tenya Iida
The class watched from the monitors as Bakugo charged in immediately reckless, explosive. Deku took hit after hit but kept thinking. Kept adapting. He used the building's layout and Ochaco's support to outplay Bakugo and tag the bomb.
Even Reiji's brow lifted slightly.
That kid's more calculating than he looks. Not strong yet but he moves like he knows what's coming.
And Bakugo? Pure force. Fast, wild… no control.
"All right, Match 2!" All might's voice echoed.
Match 2
Heroes: Eijiro Kirishima and Rikido Sato
Villains: Denki Kaminari and Reiji Kogane
Reiji walked toward the building, adjusting the collar of his coat as he moved.
Kaminari hustled beside him, nerves clearly kicking in. "So uh—strategy time, right? Maybe one of us distracts them while the other guards the bomb? Or like, we split up and.."
"No need," Reiji cut in. "We hold here. I'll fight. You back me up."
Denki blinked. "Wait, you're taking them both?"
Reiji didn't slow. "They're not the type to coordinate. If they rush in, I'll handle the them. You stay ready."
Outside, just beyond the building
Kirishima cracked his knuckles. "Alright, here's the plan. We'll need both of us if we wanna take Reiji down, so let's deal with Denki first. He's the long-range threat, and I've seen his Quirk—if he goes for a knockout shot, he's gonna burn out fast."
Rikido nodded. "And Reiji?"
"I'll stall him. Just long enough for you to take out Denki and grab the bomb. But don't go toe-to-toe with Reiji. Got it?"
Rikido gave a low grunt. "Got it."
Inside the building
Reiji knelt by the door, two fingers against the floor. He closed his eyes.
"They're close," he muttered.
He stood, pushed his hair back, and activated the command.
"Harder. Better. Faster. Stronger."
The Stand shimmered into view behind him—chrome limbs flexed, stance already set.
Down the hall footsteps. One loud and steady. One faster, pounding harder.
Kirishima came first. Rikido close behind.
Reiji pointed the wall next to door.
The Stand immediately attck the wall.
CRACK—!
The wall split wide open. Shards of concrete and plaster burst outward in a tight cone caught both heroes off guard as they tried to breach the door. Kirishima raised an arm, but too late. The debris staggered him.
Before they could reset
"DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE!"
The Stand blurred forward. Three clean punches. Kirishima took them head-on gritting his teeth, arms up, skin hardened. Sato stepped in front of him, took the fourth hit across the shoulder.
They couldn't see what was hitting them. Just flashes. Impacts. Sound.
"That thing's fast ! Can't even track it!"?" Kirishima grunted.
Reiji stayed back, observing them how do they fight and how they respond to invisible attack.
Rikido roared and tried to bulldoze forward. The Stand slipped past him low jab to the gut. Kirishima grabbed Rikido's arm and shoved him toward the bomb room.
"They're pushing!" Denki shouted. "You want me to go?"
Reiji's eyes didn't leave the hall. "Wait."
The moment Rikidō crossed into the room, which had narrowed into a tight corridor at the entrance.
CRACK—!
Lightning burst from Denki's hands. Arcs shot across the floor, forked up the walls. Kirishima and Rikidō jumped back, dodging just enough but electricity still grazed them. Their muscles seized.
Reiji pushed the pace.
"DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE!"
His Stand broke through. Kirishima took two hits to the torso, the shell starting to crack. Rikidō swung wide to protect him but Reiji was already moving.
He put more output for attack.
Kirishima dropped to one knee.
Rikidō gritted his teeth. "Split! Go wide!"
The two tried to flank. Sato charged Denki.
Reiji stepped toward him. "I've got him."
The Stand turned, intercepted Kirishima with a sharp uppercut.
Denki kept distance, trying to recharge. "You okay?"
Reiji didn't answer. His breath was steady barely strained.
The Stand attacked Kirishima relentlessly with Another barrage
"DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE!"
Kirishima's shell cracked even more. Then
He dropped.
Reiji continued attacking Rikidō. The Stand turned, met back up with him, and they closed in together on Rikidō.
Final push. Time running low.
Rikidō swung wide. Reiji ducked. Countered. The Stand struck from the opposite side.
"DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE!"
Sato stumbled. Then fell.
Villan team wins
Observation Room
After the teams returned to the observation room, All Might stepped forward.
"The MVP of the match… is Reiji!"
Jiro leaned forward. "That was brutal."
Tokoyami nodded. "They didn't even land a single hit on the villain team."
Bakugo just snorted.
Shōtō stayed quiet. He kept his eyes on the screen.
Fine. I'll show him what real power looks like. as he walk toward the testing site.
