MHA Dungeon Master

Chapter 9: Tower Defense

While waiting for the second round of the game to start, I started a casual conversation with the four children in front of my seat. The brief silence was replaced by excitement as I planned something to fill our free time. The children in front of me looked enthusiastic, watching my every move with curiosity.

"You four, while waiting for the next round, do you want to play something?" I asked with a friendly smile, trying to break the ice.

"What game?" Natsu asked with great interest, his eyes sparkling as he awaited my explanation.

"I once read about palm reading on the internet, let me read your palms," I said, extending my hand like a fortune-teller.

"Oh… interesting, read my palm first!" Tōya was the first to respond to my words. His curiosity made him step forward first.

Tōya extended his hand to me, allowing me to read his palm first. I gently took his hand and began to examine the lines on his palm closely.

So I started acting as if I was predicting his future. I stared at his palm lines and pretended to understand their meaning. With a convincing tone, I began to speak.

"Judging by your palm lines, you really want someone to notice your efforts, right?" I asked seriously. Hearing my words, Tōya's eyes slightly flickered, showing that my words had an impact.

Although the moment was very brief, it did not escape my attention. I could see small reactions indicating how important these words were to him.

"You are a very stubborn person; once you decide to do something, you will do it with determination regardless of the consequences, right?" I continued with a confident tone, trying to describe his personality.

"So my prediction for you is to express your desires loudly, like your stubborn nature, so that person knows what's in your heart and you won't regret it in the future," I wisely advised.

After I finished delivering my prediction, I saw Tōya fall silent and seem to contemplate something. His face showed that he was pondering what I had just said.

But my attention was quickly diverted as Natsu had already asked for his turn to be read. His face showed enthusiasm and curiosity, and I was ready to continue my role as a fortune-teller.

The adults around me also seemed interested in my fortune-telling behavior. They watched with smiles on their faces, enjoying this little moment.

"Oh… Natsu-kun, you should try paying more attention to your family members' thoughts," I said while holding Natsu's hand. I tried to give advice that would make him think.

"Oh… Shoto-kun, you should be careful with hot water," I said with a warning tone, making Shoto flinch a bit for some reason and hold the left side of his face.

"Oh… Fuyumi-san, you will marry someone younger, and that person is currently nearby. Hmm… that's for sure," I said jokingly, hoping to make Fuyumi smile.

Fuyumi immediately realized the meaning of my explicit words. Her face turned red instantly, and she could only turn her face away to hide her embarrassment. The discomfort she felt was evident from her expression, but she tried to remain calm and not attract more attention.

Despite this, the blush on her cheeks revealed the emotions swirling inside her heart. She hoped that this moment would soon pass and everyone would refocus on something else.

Until they heard my prediction to Fuyumi, the adults finally realized that I was just playing around. Their initially serious faces turned into smiles and small laughs, realizing that I was just joking.

Rei-san smiled at my mischievous behavior and gently patted my head. Meanwhile, Endeavor tried to contain his anger. Tōya also thought that I was just making up all my words. They all seemed entertained by my antics.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the second round of the game will begin shortly, so those interested in watching, please return to your seats!" the announcer's voice echoed throughout the stadium, drawing everyone's attention.

Suddenly, the announcer's voice echoed again throughout the stadium, indicating that the second round would begin soon. The spectators began to return to their seats with renewed enthusiasm, ready to witness the thrilling continuation of the festival.

Thirty-two participants who had rested began to gather in the middle of the stadium. They looked refreshed and full of energy after having time to recover. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement as they prepared to listen to the explanation of the next game.

Aqua, who was already on stage, immediately began explaining what the participants would face in the second round. With a clear and enthusiastic voice, she captured all the participants' attention. Their eyes were fixed on her, attentively waiting for the explanation.

"In the second round, you will play a game called [Tower Defense]!" Aqua said excitedly, boosting the participants' spirits.

"You will each be divided into eight different teams randomly," she continued, ensuring that everyone understood the team division.

"Then each of the teams will be given a tool called a CAD," Aqua explained, introducing an important tool that would be used in this game.

"The bottom part of this CAD contains a magnet that can stick to metal surfaces," she added, explaining the special feature of the tool.

"Your task is to attach this CAD to a tower-shaped block that has been placed in a mock city outside the stadium," she instructed, giving an overview of the main objective of the game.

"The two towers that need to be defended by both teams are spaced one kilometer apart. These towers will be on top of buildings that are easy for both teams to see," Aqua continued, explaining the location and distance between the two towers that participants must pay attention to.

"If either of the towers suffers more than 50% damage or is destroyed, then that team will lose," she warned, emphasizing the importance of keeping the towers intact.

"Also, if the two CADs given to each team are destroyed, then that team will also lose," Aqua added, providing additional information about the loss conditions in this game.

"In short, your task is to attach the CAD to the opposing team's tower to take control of it or to destroy the opposing team's tower or CAD, do you understand?" Aqua succinctly summarized the second round's rules to make them easy to understand for the participants. The participants nodded confidently, ready to face the next challenge.

"Now that you all understand the rules of the game, let's proceed to select the eight participants who will form the teams to start the game!" Aqua announced with enthusiasm the selection of two randomly assigned teams.

By the way, each team is given time to discuss their strategy for ten minutes, and each game is limited to thirty minutes. The time given allows the participants to plan their moves effectively, thus maximizing their chances of winning. The time limit ensures that the game remains fast-paced and exciting.

Then, the large screen in the stadium began displaying the process of randomly selecting participants who would compete in this game. The crowd watched with anticipation as the names of the participants were shuffled and revealed one by one on the screen.

The eight players who will compete in the first match are Tatsuma Ryuko, Torame Sasuke, Sakata Gintoki, and Wakasa Remi as Team A. These participants are filled with excitement and determination, ready to give their best performance.

Meanwhile, Itou Sakurako, Tanaka Naruto, Nakamura Hina, and Satou Ichirou formed Team B. The members of Team B exchanged glances, mentally preparing for the upcoming challenge and devising their strategies.
