Chapter 23: Life Draining Night Out
"Tak, tak, tak."
The streets were bustling with the constant sound of footsteps.
To calm his mind, Shinji decided to have a change of scenery.
Walking through the busy streets early in the night and just looking around at everything was something that he considered doing often in the future.
Today was different, he didn't take the fast way through rooftops and the like to get to his destination.
With his attention shifting every second with the buildings around him, he continued to be unaware of the familiar girl following him from afar.
Her heartbeat raced, it was peaceful following his 'big brother' but her back was hunching.
She was running out of breath, her short legs and low stamina didn't allow her to get some rest as she needed to speed up to catch up to him.
The amount of steps they took were many, hard to count.
Aurora almost gave up, but sighed out of relief once she saw her brother putting on his hoodie and entering an alleyway.
'Finally!' She excitedly thought.
She sped up and entered the alleyway just in time to see her brother reaching the top of a building and speeding off.
'Wait for me!' Aurora screamed internally before heading deeper into the alleyway.

Shinji searched the areas he'd come to know that had the highest probability of having crime within them.
Searching for criminals was an easy task where he lived, everyday there were villains doing their activities in broad daylight.
The amount of heroes he'd seen were uncountable for him.
It hadn't been more than two days in the U.A. school and he was already starting to get tired of playing hero.
He wanted to truly make an impact on society, for his actions to have a meaning.
When looking back at his past and knowing that the present moment was a reflection of his actions, that's when he will truly be happy.
For now, he was stuck beating down low level villains for some experience and enjoyment.
And, also doing it to save people from the grasps of these shameless villains.
Having looked around for a few minutes around the area, he found what he was looking for.
This was something unexpected, there was a gang war happening with a considerable sum of villains battling each other to the death.
'Now this is something that you don't see every day.'
Shinji sat down on the edge of the building and saw the unfolding events down below.
There was something bothering him, one gang consisted fully of mutant quirk people and the other was more normal.
'Those people were probably rejected by society, making them become villains out of necessity rather than by choice.'
A pained expression manifested on his face.
'There's probably nothing we can do now for these people, making a person change is a waste of time.'
Oddly enough, when Shinji thought about this, images of him appeared and filled his mind.
"I know this well enough." He whispered.
Refocusing his attention on the fight, the mutants seemed to be winning.
Many dead bodies fell on the floor, causing others to trip and stumble constantly.
Shinji couldn't imagine fighting under these conditions.
Stepping on the dead bodies of your comrades while fighting the opposing side.
There were currently five members of the normal group and seven from the mutant group.
Having been more focused than ever on the fight, he took a minute to realize that a certain girl had been spotted by one of the gang members.
Watching this, he opened his eyes widely in surprise before activating his partial transformation that he'd turned off moments before watching the fight.
A mutant rat man lunged at the girl and tried to rip her apart with his claws.
The girl put her arms in front of her and braced for impact.
Running with all his strength, he barely avoided a fatal accident.
Aurora was surprised to see her brother seemingly coming out of nowhere to defend her, she was now held in a princess carry.
looking behind her brother, she saw the headless corpse of the rat man falling to the floor.
Her eyes opened wide in excitement, something that was out of place in that situation.
Shinji didn't question it, he instead looked at the girl with shock.
"Aurora, what are you doing here!?" He impatiently asked, with worry evident in his voice.
She ignored the question, "Cool!"
The feeling manifested as words inside his chest.
It was hard to get used to her speaking with her emotions rather than her voice, he would get used to it eventually.
Looking back behind him, Shinji saw the villains looking at him with disgust, wariness, and anger.
What was this person doing here? The normal villains asked themselves.
This guy will pay, the others thought.
Shinji lowered down the girl from his arms and manifested his quirk which left everyone scared and on high alert.
'Kill them,' he ordered.
The monster fulfilled his task within seconds, effectively ending the short war.
The end result was messy, blood and guts made their way onto the hard concrete and walls.
Bodies littered the small alleyway and he knew that this was going to be noticed by the authorities and the heroes.
Shinji felt a tug at his hoodie from behind him, Aurora looked at him with emotion.
"Every Night," then she pointed at herself and him.
With this, he could only imagine the problems that would haunt him from now on.
This manifested as a displeased expression on his face.
