MHA: A Villain's Leading Wish

Chapter 22: Long Time No See

This was unexpected, in front of him, there he was, a person he thought he wouldn't see again.

It was detective Tsukauchi, he was there to ask some questions regarding Shinji's disappearance the day of the event.

He was currently talking with his sister about some stuff that he couldn't hear.

His mood from having won the hero combat training immediately dropped.

Shinji looked around and saw the little girl watching television.

He felt better until he remembered that he didn't know her name.

Detective Tsukakuchi noticed him standing at the door before approaching him.

"Hello Shinji, I have some questions to ask regarding where you were all this time and what happened with your parents, I hope it's not much of a problem."

Shinji kept his silence, he simply walked to his sister and sat on a chair.

The detective followed and sat in front of him.

Shinji kept himself from showing negative emotions and making a displeased expression.

His chest felt heavy, and the feeling of the unpleasant atmosphere made him sick.

"How are you feeling Shinji?" The detective asked politely.

"I'm fine, better now that I'm living off the streets." Shinji slowly replied.

"I'm sure that must have been a bad experience, do you mind telling me what happened before you ran away from home?"

Silence, 'What do I tell him? That I killed my dad by mistake and ran away? As if.'

The silence continued, and after a few seconds, Shinji thought hard on what to respond.

He opened his mouth before closing it shortly after. Taking a deep breath, he started talking.

"My dad was killed by a monster, it looked like an animalistic person."

Detective Tsukauchi's ears perked up.

'Could this boy be the killer?' He immediately questioned.

'His quirk matches the monster he's talking about and he's been on the run for some time.'

Now that the detective was suspicious, he asked another question.

"What happened to your mother? Do you remember what happened to her?"

Shinji frowned, "I ran away when my dad was killed, I don't know what happened to my mom."

'He's telling the truth.'

Tsukauchi looked down at his notes and started writing away.

Miki looked towards Shinji, the worry painted on her face was evident.

Seeing his sister looking at him with worry, he knew that he had to be strong in front of her.

He gave her a small smile before giving her a reassuring look.

Tsukauchi looked up from his notebook before resuming his talk.

"Why did you live on the streets for years before seeking help? You could have gone with your sister or with the police."

"I don't know, I guess I was scared, I also didn't want to talk to anyone."

"I see…"

The conversation kept going for a few more minutes before detective Tsukauchi excused himself and left the house.

'He definitely thinks I did it,' Shinji thought.

Now that his sister was more relieved, they talked about what happened with the detective and how his school day went.

The little girl joined in on the conversation a few minutes later, she only listened for obvious reasons.

Shinji looked at the girl he'd rescued and felt at peace, though there was something bothering him.

"Please forgive me but what's your name?"

Shinji went ahead to take a notebook and a pen for her but was stopped once he 'felt' the girl's name.

'How is this possible?' Shinji thought to himself.

No words were spoken, but there was a feeling in his chest that made words form in his mind.

It was a weird experience.

"Wow, your quirk is very practical." Shinji said.

The girl smiled in response, seeing that nothing else was happening, he invited her to get ice cream.

The little girl with the name of Aurora accepted and they both went to get some food.

While walking towards their destination Shinji thought about the name of the girl.

It was obviously not Japanese which meant that either her parents weren't from Japan or one of her parents had another nationality.

It was scary to think that this girl could not be from Japan and was transported here like a product.

Shinji looked at the girl.

A sad expression couldn't help but make its way on his face, she seemed to notice.

The slight tremble of her fingers and sweaty palm reminded him that they were holding hands.

Shinji reminded himself to be sensitive and not cause her harm.

They spent the rest of the day eating and just having a casual, light conversation.

Aurora was becoming more like his little sister, and that made him happy.

Returning home, all Kai could think of was working on his novel and figuring out ways to make money.

Spending the rest of daylight researching and writing, Kai got tired.

It was time to do his vigilante work.

He got out of bed and walked out the door leading to his room.

He first made sure that everyone was asleep before heading out to do his work.

What he didn't realize however, was that a certain girl watched him leave through a slightly opened door.

When Shinji left the house, the girl followed right after with a smile on her face.
