Chapter 21 - Did the Child of Fate Die?
Chapter 021:Did the Child of Fate Die?
Clang—clang—
The tattooed thugs kept smashing the woman’s stall with their iron rods.
The customers who had been eating there earlier had already fled, leaving only Su Mingxuan and his bodyguards. The gangsters didn’t seem interested in creating more trouble, so they didn’t bother chasing them off.
“Brother Sheng, please, I’m begging you. I only set up for two hours a night. I really need the money… please…” The woman looked at the wreckage around her, eyes full of despair as she pleaded weakly.
She was just a woman—how could she dare go against these men?
Brother Sheng walked up to her with the iron rod in hand. “How many times have I told you already? You think my words are wind in your ears?”
She shook her head, trembling, eyes filled with fear and helplessness. The way she sobbed softly, hopelessly, touched everyone around. Her voice, though still pleasant, now carried a haunting sorrow.
“This is too much!” Su Xiaomeng suddenly said angrily.
Su Mingxuan: “…”
What’s going on? Where’s the Child of Fate?
This is exactly the kind of moment where he’s supposed to show up, right? What is he waiting for?
Unfortunately, instead of the Child of Fate, more thugs showed up.
“Brother Sheng, this chick keeps wrapping her head every night. We don’t even know what she looks like. Should we take a look?” one of the tattooed men said with a grin.
“Sure,” Brother Sheng nodded. “That figure’s real top tier. If her face is decent too, we can put her on the hostess roster.”
“Hehehe…” A few of the gang members began approaching the woman with their iron rods.
“No, please, Brother Sheng… I’m begging you…” She clutched her headscarf tightly, gem-like eyes filled with despair.
“Enough.” A calm voice rang out from not far away.
The thugs paused and turned toward the source of the voice, and immediately their eyes widened at the sight of the stunning young pair. “What the hell? What’s today, National Goddess Parade Day?” one of them blurted. “Another freaking stunner?”
Brother Sheng, more observant than most of his men, glanced at Su Mingxuan. Judging by the way the young man dressed and carried himself, this guy wasn’t simple.
Not wanting trouble, he said coldly, “Buddy, stay out of this. Don’t go poking your nose where it doesn’t belong.”
As he finished, he gave a subtle signal behind his back. Several thugs raised their rods threateningly. The message was clear.
Su Mingxuan frowned slightly as something felt off.
This was textbook “hero saves the beauty” setup. A Child of Fate should’ve stepped in by now. What was the holdup? But no hero appeared. Instead, the woman just faced more danger.
Could the Child of Fate be… dead? That couldn’t be.
With how strong the fate aura was on this woman, there was no way she wasn’t connected to a Fate Child. Something deeper had to be going on here.
If the protagonist wouldn’t come out, then Su Mingxuan had no choice but to intervene. To lure out this fully-formed Fate Child, this woman was definitely the key.
With that in mind, he looked at Brother Sheng and said flatly, “Get lost. I’ll only say this once.”
Brother Sheng and his crew froze.
“Didn’t you hear what I just said?” Brother Sheng growled, face twisting in anger. He gripped the iron rod and started walking toward Su Mingxuan.
Su Mingxuan smiled faintly.
Yeah, he wasn’t suited for playing the hero in some sappy love story. So he might as well act the part he was meant to play.
He raised his eyes and spoke coldly, “Break their legs.”
Brother Sheng: “???”
Who the hell does this guy think he is? Who jumps straight to breaking legs like that? This guy’s even more brutal than we are!
