Chapter 2605: 2605. Reasons For Change
With the meeting becoming an open format, it was easier for Walker to listen in with more detail. The various conversations about different aspects of the radiant light elf society were very interesting.
It seemed that the focus on food and agriculture came from losing some of their farmlands in the current shift of the elemental planes. The worry for food overall was something that could cause them a lot of issues. Their farming magics were not as involved as what they had seen already within Genesis.
This was because they had focused entirely on light mana and not developed anything that could do with the natural flow of plant growth. While some people would wonder if this was true, the radiant light elf society would show it as such in the fact that by focusing on just one mana and existing within the elemental planes, they had lost the attunement to nature that the elves of the world possessed.
The world's elves could still generally sense a little of how nature should flow. Those with high elf bloodline awakened, would also have an easier time with that since they could sense natural mana to some degree and even manipulate it too at times.
This left the radiant light elves not as close to the plants they needed to farm in bulk to ensure their people were able to eat every day. Not an impossible task since they had years of experience, however, it was interesting to hear that farming was harder for the races only attuned to a single affinity and not have members of various mana affinities.
The farmers of Genesis naturally had different affinities. That allowed them some ability to farm different elemental crops. However, it also allowed them to see how the affinity they had reacted with other manas and how nature needed what they had as an affinity to assist in the growth of certain crops. Rather than the radiant light elves who just saw light mana and channeled light mana to the light affinity crops. They were only able to do certain crops which had dwindling numbers because of the recent losses.
They wanted more resistant crops to changes in other elemental apnea too. So that if mana from another elemental plane came again, they would not lose so many of their fields' worth of food.
Learning this was an important reason why the radiant light elves might have been chosen by the true light sage to come. This made Walker wonder what the other two races might be struggling with of their own.
The trade of plants, roots, and seeds was more than welcome regardless of other needs. With herbalists and a few farmers on the way deals could be made between experts rather than just a few of the elves who had knowledge about Genesis plants. Experts were always more welcomed.
The elven mages speaking with the radiant light elves did not stop bombarding with questions. This was from both sides though, the radiant light elves had questions in return constantly.
Simply put, the radiant light elves had a very well developed form of teaching and using light magic skills that primarily focused on condensing light mana while also controlling it closely. This form of magic focus was definitely more advanced than what many would focus on normally. Align with the fact that they also seemed to have discarded or lost many past notes and historical records of how their magic had changed from archery, to arcane archery, to light magic focus.
There was a moment where Walker heard Gil questioning something called the light archery technique. This was a form of archery that relied on light mana to boost the speed and alter the perception of the arrows used with light mana illusions. While the technique was a faded and nearly lost technique, the radiant light elves still possessed enough knowledge for Gil to begin grasping some understanding of it.
As this was the case, Walker knew exactly what Gil would try to do.
He would be trying to create some form of high elf archery techniques.
While it was possible that there would be other elemental bow techniques, the fact that they would come from races split off from the elves made things harder. Every elemental plane might not have elves who split from the world and solely grew within the elemental plane he needed a technique from. It wouldn't even guarantee that they had focused on archery to make a singular elemental technique.
Then again, he had so much knowledge about archery in general that Gil was confident he could take one or two different elemental archery techniques and begin developing others. Walker also knew that Gil could use what knowledge he had to begin altering bow techniques to make in to elemental archery techniques and possibly a natural mana based archery technique to match the high elf dagger technique.
When Walker moved away however, he found a focus on the history of the radiant light elves.
He heard of the last great shift in manas just before the elemental war ended. The times when there were so many dangers that many races were lost to every elemental plane.
The age where there had been so much chaos that the radiant light elves had struggled to survive while adapting to the light elemental manas they now entirely held one affinity for. This had been the major loss of historical information leaving gaps in the why they used certain skills and spells in a certain way. It also changed how they meditated to understand light mana since they had lost their original meditation technique.
All of that focus on new meditation techniques and grasping the light mana better around them had led them to greater focus on magic rather than archery. While techniques and familiar forms still existed, the act of drawing a bow and bringing mana in to arrows or actions was lost for the most part.
This left the radiant light elves with a lack of foundational knowledge. They could teach where they stood but could not look back and avoided falling in to past habits or past errors. This had left many of their scholarly mages and fighters at a bottleneck.
Meeting the elves of the world should be the chance to extend and improve their knowledge. Breaking through that bottleneck and advancing to handle any migrating monsters due to the shifts in the elemental planes as a whole.
This wasn't to say they didn't have other goals too. They had already seen the differences in skills, specifically, variety. Since they only focused on light they had lost something. They list the ability to branch out in to other forms of mana which united to create things they didn't know anything at all about.
To some of the radiant light elves, they were looking at the potential they had lost by not traveling more. By not looking to adapt to new environments. What Walker and the others did not realize was that the radiant light elves had isolated themselves from other races as well. Lived peacefully but also alone with only connections to the true light sage and the underlings of the true light sage.
Catching Alice speaking to a few of the radiant light elves, Walker noticed that they were very interested in the light affinity healers. It appeared that they shared a great deal of common ground in the light mana buff skills, purification skills, and also the healing skills.
This was a good song until Walker realized that the radiant light elves also seemed to have innate skills related to light purification. He saw one of them demonstrate purifying an item using light mana. The small cup of tea became clear water, however that clear water held light mana mixed it making it a mix of light and water mana.
While the radiant light elf did not notice they had mixed the two manas, Walker and a few others did. The sudden realization caused a few mages to begin asking them to use the innate light purification skill on different items. It readily became an experimental event with several radiant light elves and mages taking notes.
This showed the radiant light elves their impact on the world while also learning of the other elemental manas and through that elemental planes. With this knowledge they may find paths to advance and step forward as a race.
Alma brought up trade soon after and the agreement was being written within minutes of the topic. Walker didn't have to interfere. He just had to support here and there. A good thing since this was exactly the moment he needed to get him closer to finishing his chain quest. Especially since he had just interjected to suggest some of the light affinity healers prepare to visit their homeland as well.
