Chapter 119: Chapter 118: The Extraordinary Doctor Strange
Swish!
A massive glowing portal suddenly appeared right in front of Peter and the Quetzalcoatlus.
Peter froze for a moment before quickly realizing—
Wasn't this the teleportation portal used by Doctor Strange?
So, this universe had a Doctor Strange as well?
Wait, considering the plot of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, most parallel universes did indeed have a Doctor Strange.
However, in the original The Amazing Spider-Man storyline, Doctor Strange had never appeared.
In fact, not just Doctor Strange—most superheroes and supervillains from the Marvel Universe rarely showed up in the Amazing universe.
First, it was Doctor Octopus, and now Doctor Strange… As expected, no universe is simple. You can't just rely on the original storyline to understand everything.
And even more importantly, as a traveler from another world with foreknowledge, one must not develop a superiority complex!
Reflecting on his past words and actions, Peter made some internal adjustments.
Without needing Peter's command, the Quetzalcoatlus had already come to a halt in front of the portal.
Clearly, this sudden phenomenon made the creature uneasy.
As it hesitated, Peter gently patted its head. "Let's go in and take a look."
"Raaaah—"
The Quetzalcoatlus, possessing remarkable intelligence, had already begun to understand some of Peter's different vocal cues during their short time together.
At the very least, they could now communicate on a basic level.
Whoosh—
With a flap of its wings, the Quetzalcoatlus soared forward, carrying Peter through the portal.
On the other side, they emerged into a vast primeval jungle. In the center of the forest stood a towering mountain, at least a thousand meters high.
From a distance, Peter noticed that one side of the mountain looked as if a massive chunk had been forcefully carved away.
A palace-like structure was sculpted into the mountainside, its foundation embedded in the rock. Some of it protruded outward, while Peter suspected that an even larger portion was hidden within the mountain itself.
"This must be this world's Sanctum Sanctorum…"
He had mentally prepared himself for the fact that different universes could have variations in their Sanctum Sanctorums.
After all, parallel universes came in many forms.
As an aspiring science fiction writer who had barely found success, Peter had extensively studied theories related to parallel worlds before his transmigration.
Based on quantum physics and the many-worlds interpretation, he could roughly explain why they existed.
Parallel universes are formed due to the irregular movements of quantum particles.
A simple analogy—
Imagine you're standing on one side of a street, trying to cross to the other side.
The first way: You walk directly across the street—this is "Universe 1."
The second way: You use an overhead bridge—this is "Universe 2."
The third way: You take an underground tunnel—this is "Universe 3."
The fourth way: A strong guy picks you up and throws you across—this is "Universe 4."
And so on.
In this scenario, "you" represent a quantum particle.
Depending on the different paths you take, different universes are formed.
And beyond that, there are even more possibilities—
For instance, in "Universe 1," you could walk, run, crawl, or jump across the street. Even though the start and end points are the same, the different methods create distinct universes.
However, the differences between these variations are smaller than the previous example. They could be categorized as "Universe 1-1," "Universe 1-2," "Universe 1-3," and so forth.
---
As the Quetzalcoatlus descended in front of the carved mountain sanctum, a familiar figure appeared before them.
At a glance, Peter immediately recognized who it was.
Doctor Strange!
The Amazing Universe's Stephen Strange!
He looked noticeably older than his counterpart in the 616 movie universe—probably around fifty years old.
If he had become the Sorcerer Supreme at a similar age to the Doctor Strange Peter was familiar with, then this "Amazing Doctor Strange" was truly an extraordinary existence.
Because in the field of magic, he was at least several levels beyond his counterpart!
Magic, much like traditional medicine, becomes more potent with age.
It requires a deep accumulation of knowledge over time.
"Hello, Doctor Strange, nice to meet you," Peter said as he jumped down from the Quetzalcoatlus. "May I ask why the Sorcerer Supreme has summoned me here?"
"You were never meant to be in this world," the Amazing Doctor Strange said, staring at Peter with a blank expression.
Peter paused slightly, raising his guard.
It seemed that this universe's Doctor Strange was not particularly friendly toward him.
However, his Spider-Sense remained silent, which meant that—for now—there was no immediate hostility.
"Why do you say that?" Peter asked, puzzled.
The Amazing Doctor Strange replied, "Your arrival has altered this world far too much. You've even directly contributed to the instability of the multiverse structure."
Peter frowned. "If that's the case, why didn't you stop me from the beginning? I know another Strange from a different universe—it was him who sent me here. With your abilities, you should have known the moment I arrived, right?"
The Amazing Doctor Strange gazed at him calmly and said, "I saw within you a mysterious power—one capable of influencing, even rewriting, the very laws of the multiverse. I had hoped you would change this world… perhaps even reshape the entire multiversal order."
"But now you're here to stop me?" Peter questioned, unable to grasp the shift in Strange's attitude—from allowing his presence to now seemingly restricting it.
The Amazing Doctor Strange shook his head slightly. "I am not here to stop you—I am here to warn you."
"Hmm?" Peter still didn't fully understand.
Doctor Strange raised a finger and pointed into the air.
A golden light shot forth, striking the Quetzalcoatlus beside them.
Without so much as a groan, the creature collapsed, its head hitting the ground.
Alarms went off in Peter's mind.
This Strange's mastery of magic far exceeded his expectations!
Just from that single display, Peter could tell—this Doctor Strange was far stronger than the one in Doctor Strange 2, even after years of cultivation.
"There is no need to worry. I merely put him to sleep. What I'm about to say must not be heard by others," the Amazing Doctor Strange reassured him.
His tone was calm, his words explanatory, yet his face remained utterly devoid of emotion—as if all feeling had been stripped from his mind.
Then, Strange raised his finger again and pointed at the air.
The surrounding environment instantly began to shift and transform.
In the blink of an eye, Peter realized he had left the Amazing Universe entirely—transported into another realm!
