Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 118: Chapter 117: The Green-Winged Dragon Demon, Norman

The only building nearby that could be used to shoot webs had just been destroyed by the Wind God Wyvern.

"I wonder if I'll have back pain like Mr. Parker when I get older?"

That thought crossed Gwen's mind as she realized she was about to fall from several stories high. Her mind flashed back to the time she met the middle-aged Peter Spider from the Ultimate Universe.

He'd injured his back from a fall when he was younger, which caused persistent back pain in his middle age.

Whoosh—

At that moment, a figure darted through the air.

Gwen felt herself falling into someone's arms.

"You okay?" Peter looked down and asked.

"I'm fine," Gwen replied.

Thud!

Peter landed gracefully on the ground, still holding Gwen.

The vibranium suit absorbed the impact flawlessly, leaving both of them unscathed—and not even leaving a crack on the ground.

"What are you two doing here?" Peter asked, puzzled as he gently let Gwen down.

Midtown Tech High was nearly half a district away from here. Even if they'd heard the news, there was no way they could've arrived this quickly.

"The school organized a museum trip. The bus was passing by the nearby street when all this happened," Gwen explained once she found her footing.

"So you two just ditched the trip, huh?" Peter said, clearly annoyed.

He'd wanted Gwen to focus on school to relax and experience the normal life a girl her age should have.

At seventeen, she was in the prime of her youth.

She shouldn't have to carry the heavy burden of being a "superhero" at this age.

Gwen lowered her head, looking a bit embarrassed.

Crash!

While they were talking, the Wind God Wyvern—the one that had headbutted the building—rose from the wreckage.

The top two floors had been completely reduced to rubble by its impact.

But the wyvern itself looked completely unscathed.

Its destructive power and sheer durability were nothing short of astonishing.

GAAWR!

The wyvern let out a deafening roar, its piercing gaze locking onto Peter.

This time, Peter had a strong feeling—it was staring directly at his suit.

Could it be that in the world this wyvern and those five Allosaurs come from, there's also a Spider-Man?

And maybe they've even fought him before?

Is that why they keep focusing on me in the Spider-Man suit?

There was no time to dwell on it.

The wyvern had already spread its wings, grabbing a large wall chunk and hurling it straight at Peter.

"Gwen, get back," Peter said calmly, eyes fixed on the incoming threat.

"Got it. Don't worry, I've got your back," Gwen replied confidently, quickly finding her position. She wasn't some fragile girl, after all.

"Good." Peter nodded, clenching his fists as he braced himself.

BOOM!

In the next instant, he launched himself like a missile, his fist smashing through the wall chunk with explosive force.

SCREE!

The wyvern let out a screech, almost like it was mocking him. Its massive claws swiped toward Peter with terrifying speed.

But Peter was ready.

Right after breaking through the wall, he sharply reduced his speed, flipping mid-air to land on a smaller piece of debris.

At the same time, he shot webs from both hands, anchoring them to larger chunks of rubble nearby.

Peter spun his body in a sharp 270-degree rotation.

With the web's tension pulling it, a large chunk of debris slammed into the Wind God Wyvern's neck.

Unfortunately, it wasn't powerful enough to cause any real damage.

However, it did manage to interrupt the wyvern's attack.

Peter seized the opportunity to shoot two more webs, this time sticking them directly onto the wyvern's body. With a strong pull, he launched himself toward it.

Another agile flip.

Peter landed right on its neck.

No wonder it's an ancient beast larger than a fighter jet, he thought. Its neck alone is wide enough to ride a horse on.

Shaking off the awe, Peter sprinted quickly toward the wyvern's head.

No matter how strong this Wind God Wyvern was, as long as it was a living creature, it had weaknesses.

And for most creatures, the biggest weakness was the head.

The wyvern seemed to realize Peter's intentions.

Its massive body displayed an unexpected level of agility.

With a sudden, powerful flap of its wings, it twisted its flight path and shot upward into the sky.

This was one of its signature moves when dealing with ground-dwelling enemies.

Since land creatures couldn't fly, simply dropping them from high altitudes would reduce them to nothing more than shattered remains.

Sometimes, foolish velociraptors would try to ambush it while it was sleeping on the ground, daring to challenge the infamous Green-Winged Dragon Demon, Norman. They were easily flung off to their deaths.

Even subordinates that had dared to challenge its dominance had met the same fate—caught and crushed in mid-air.

However, the tactic that had always been effective before was useless against Peter.

With his webbing and bio-electric abilities, he could move effortlessly across the wyvern's body as if walking on solid ground.

No matter how wildly the wyvern spun, twisted, or performed unpredictable aerial maneuvers, Peter was unfazed.

In fact, he wasn't even in a hurry anymore.

He casually sat cross-legged on top of the wyvern's head, leaning slightly as he tapped a finger above its eye.

"Hey, can you understand me? You've got to be intelligent, right?"

Earlier, when he'd interacted with those allosaurs, he'd sensed they had some level of intelligence.

Judging by the wyvern's behavior, its intelligence might even surpass theirs.

"GAWR!"

The wyvern let out an angry roar. Peter could almost hear the frustration in its voice.

That confirmed it—this creature was highly intelligent. They just couldn't communicate effectively due to the language barrier.

How do you even communicate with a dinosaur?

Peter was stumped.

Even if he tried gestures, their habits and thought processes were so different that it'd be hard to get his point across.

Just then—

The wyvern suddenly let out a pained howl. Its upward ascent faltered, and it plummeted rapidly. It didn't even bother trying its usual wild spinning tricks to shake Peter off.

Peter nearly lost his balance.

Sighing in mild frustration, he reached out and channeled a burst of quantum energy into the wyvern's body.

Instantly, the quantum collapse phenomenon vanished.

The wyvern, previously writhing in agony, blinked in confusion.

Peter gave its head a light pat. "Better now?"

The wyvern's eyes shifted upward slightly, almost as if sneaking a glance at Peter. Then, instead of spiraling out of control, it stabilized its flight and began descending smoothly.

Peter quickly tapped it twice and pointed toward the outskirts of New York. "Don't land in the city—head over there."

"GAWR!"

The wyvern let out a disgruntled growl but obediently adjusted its course, following Peter's direction.

Peter then used his communicator to update Vulture and Gwen on the situation. Feeling reassured, he settled comfortably on the wyvern's back as they flew toward the city's outskirts.
