Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Venom
Bruce didn't show any particular expression, nor did he choose to respond to Jessica.
He simply fixed his sharp gaze on the Prowler.
"I think you should know my nephew's current situation. Sometimes, I admit you heroes are indeed quite smart, but among us guys, not everyone is an idiot." Although the Prowler was completely bound by ropes, his emotions were clearly somewhat excited.
Because his plan had indeed succeeded.
Or rather, their group's plan had succeeded.
Regarding Spider-Man, his intentions could be said to be quite simple. However, since his nephew obviously didn't want to cooperate with him, he couldn't be blamed.
He couldn't let someone like that constantly interfere with his work.
Even if he couldn't bring himself to do it, watching someone else make the move — he felt he could accept that.
Facing the man before him, the Bat's choice was simple — he directly punched him in the face.
The Prowler only felt blood gushing from his nose, but to him, this was nothing. What he really wanted was to see this guy's helpless, furious expression.
Yet from beginning to end, the Bat's expression remained remarkably calm.
However, deep down, the Bat was genuinely furious at the utterly deranged plan the man before him had devised.
Someone who could harm their own family was no longer a normal human being.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure your plan fails." As he spoke, the Batwing silently appeared above Bruce's head.
Meanwhile, at the bank, the young Black Spider was clearly struggling.
His suit was already damaged.
Standing before him were Doctor Octopus and the others.
"Looks like solo combat is still a bit difficult for you, isn't it?" Doctor Octopus smiled as she looked at the current Spider-Man.
"I honestly think this guy's nothing special — just a little brat, that's all." (Spanish) The Scorpion stood on the other side, looking at the panting Black Spider with disdain.
"I thought you guys had already been sent to prison." Black Spider forced himself to stand upright, speaking to the two villains before him.
But part of his attention remained on another figure — one that could be described as elusive.
That figure was the deadliest threat to Black Spider right now.
He could sense something emanating from that figure's body — an interest in him, as if it were particularly fascinated by his body.
This made Miles more alert than ever.
Suddenly, Doctor Octopus moved. She keenly caught the brief moment when Miles was distracted and manipulated the tentacles behind her to launch an attack.
The long octopus arms smashed into the spot where Miles had just been standing.
"Hey, don't lose focus." Doctor Octopus didn't mind that Miles had dodged her attack.
After all, he was still Spider-Man.
But the Scorpion had already charged at Miles from the other side.
The sharp stinger on his long tail thrust straight at Miles' face.
Miles dodged at the last possible moment.
Bang!!
The stinger pierced the wall, leaving cracks across the surface.
"Wow, man, I'm a spider, you're a scorpion — from a biological standpoint, we're practically cousins, you know?" Miles took advantage of the moment before the Scorpion could retract his tail, grabbed it, and swung him into the ground.
The heavily modified, monstrous Scorpion barely suffered any major injuries from the attack.
But at that moment, a figure's appearance made Miles freeze.
It was the black silhouette that had vanished earlier.
In its hand, it gripped a figure Miles was all too familiar with.
His father, Jefferson Davis, was firmly held in its grasp.
"Looks like our Spider-Man is a bit surprised by your arrival." The figure lowered its head, speaking to Officer Jefferson in its hand.
The reason he had left earlier was because this figure had appeared outside the scene.
Although the Prowler hadn't explained everything, they weren't idiots — though the Scorpion might not be the brightest.
However, both Doctor Octopus and he had already understood.
"Say hello to our friendly neighbor." That guy controlled Jefferson's hand and waved at Miles.
Jefferson could only glare at the guy beside him, as well as the criminals who had already begun robbing the bank.
"It looks like our officer is still quite dedicated to his duty." That guy's pitch-black suit began to ripple at that moment.
It was as if he was wearing flowing ink on his body.
"But, officer, don't you want to know who that spider over there really is?" The man leaned close to Jefferson's ear and spoke in an intensely curious tone.
Naturally, Jefferson was curious about Spider-Man's identity.
But he knew he couldn't show any weakness now. Even though he had always wanted to arrest Spider-Man, no matter what, Spider-Man was doing the right thing at this moment.
Miles wanted to say something, but his mind had already been thrown into chaos by the sudden turn of events, and he completely failed to notice that Scorpion had long since appeared behind him.
Only when that hulking figure leaped down did Miles' Spider-Sense frantically sound its warning.
Too late.
Bang!
Miles was pinned under Scorpion's foot. The villain's grotesque face twisted into an indescribably ugly grin.
"Oh, looks like our little spider isn't such a friendly neighbor anymore. He's just a brat." Perhaps wanting to ensure that Miles clearly heard his taunt, Scorpion deliberately switched to English instead of Spanish.
Miles' limbs were firmly restrained under Scorpion's four powerful legs.
At the same time, another figure opened his massive mouth, revealing rows of razor-sharp fangs.
He seemed to be silently mocking the now-helpless Miles.
Doctor Octopus approached Miles with his mechanical tentacles. "To be honest, I'm quite curious to see what kind of person is hiding under that mask."
As the pale-green tentacle arms drew closer, Miles had no idea what to do.
His father was being controlled, and now his own identity was about to be exposed.
Suddenly, a bright light flashed across the bank lobby's window, but no one inside paid much attention to it.
At most, they assumed the NYPD had deployed a helicopter.
In the next moment, a bat symbol was reflected in the window.
Bruce kicked the guy controlling Jefferson, sending him flying.
As the blow landed, Bruce even noticed slight ripples spreading across the man's suit.
There was something wrong with that thing.
Seeing his father freed, Miles unleashed all his strength, flinging the villain restraining him away.
In just a few quick steps, he reached Jefferson's side.
After confirming his father was unharmed, he stood next to Bruce.
"This was supposed to be our game with the spider—why is some random guy interfering?" The one Bruce had kicked away clung to the wall—just like Spider-Man.
Jessica's voice suddenly shrieked upon seeing the man stick to the wall.
"I remember now! That thing looks just like the symbiote S.H.I.E.L.D. once contained!"
"Code name: Venom!"
