Chapter 74: Chapter 74: The Tinkerer's Death

"It seems our Wanderer classmate has finally stopped in his tracks." Jessica looked at the pattern on the side, which had already halted its movement.

However, Bruce showed no reaction. He simply stood up and prepared to start his own operation.

He had just found the information he wanted.

He now knew the Tinkerer's location.

"So, are you going to take action?"

Jessica watched as Bruce began tidying up his battle armor.

"No, you keep watching the Wanderer. I'll make a trip to the Tinkerer. Besides, that guy is no longer at the US-Mexico border." Bruce spoke as he walked toward the Batwing he had just finished assembling today.

"That thing was only completed today. Are you sure it's okay?" Jessica was a little worried. Even large companies would thoroughly test normal airplanes before putting them into use.

But Bruce's Batwing hadn't undergone any tests.

Everything had been designed and assembled by Bruce himself.

That made the machine filled with uncertainty.

Bruce didn't respond to Jessica's doubts, merely saying, "Keep an eye on the Wanderer. He might silently pull off something big. Also, protect Aunt May, and notify me if anything happens."

"Got it." Jessica seemed like she wanted to say more, but she could only watch as Bruce controlled the platform carrying the Batwing, which slowly began to rise.

Eventually, the platform closed, and the Batwing transformed into a streak of light, disappearing into the sky.

Jessica couldn't help but admire Bruce's confidence.

Using something fresh out of the workshop without any testing.

At that moment, Aunt May walked out, carrying her red date bread.

"Where's Bruce?" Aunt May seemed a little disappointed not to see Bruce. After all, she had improved the recipe for her red date bread this time.

When Aunt May brought out the bread, Jessica suddenly understood why Bruce had left her behind.

Watching the Wanderer and protecting Aunt May were normal tasks, but mentioning red date bread earlier was definitely suspicious.

"Come and eat some bread. I've prepared some side dishes too—it should taste good."

Aunt May placed the bread down, with a few thoughtful snacks beside the plate.

Jessica could only glare hatefully at the direction Bruce had left, then turned to Aunt May with a bright smile.

"The bread smells delicious. If Bruce misses out, he'll definitely regret it."

Jessica looked at Aunt May, hoping she might set aside a piece for Bruce.

But Aunt May simply shook her head. "I've already prepared Bruce's portion. I'll bake it fresh when he returns."

Although that wasn't the result Jessica wanted, it wasn't too bad either.

Her mood improved a little.

Outside, Bruce was fully focused on his mission. He now knew the Tinkerer's location—hiding in a small city in New Jersey.

It was only an hour's drive to the now relatively peaceful New York City.

A rather smart choice.

The guy clearly knew New York might bring trouble, but he ensured he stayed close enough not to cut off his business entirely.

Hovering the Batwing in place, Bruce chose to descend from a high altitude.

With his cape, he had no need for a parachute.

He landed gracefully not far from the Tinkerer's residence. While the Tinkerer's combat ability wasn't particularly strong, the items in his possession made Bruce wary.

Because there was no way to determine whether that guy had any lethal firepower in his hands.

Bruce didn't rush straight into the Tinkerer's house. His scan revealed that there was no heat source inside the building at all.

Something was off.

Bruce instinctively felt that something wasn't right. Without hesitating any further, he kicked the door open and entered the Tinkerer's home.

The house showed clear signs of habitation, but the person living there was nowhere to be found.

A pungent, ammonia-like smell filled the air.

Bruce immediately sealed his mask. His mask wasn't just bulletproof—it also provided maximum protection against toxic gases.

However, Bruce had a rough idea of what this smell was.

Following the source of the odor, he walked straight to a wall.

He took out a small device and placed it against the wall. Almost instantly, what had seemed like a seamless barrier automatically slid open.

Inside, a room resembling an armory was revealed—along with a corpse, grotesquely swollen like a giant.

A bullet wound on the forehead was glaringly obvious.

Even so, Bruce could still recognize the body from its features—it was his target.

The Tinkerer.

Frowning, Bruce stepped back and exited the scene. He called the local police in the Tinkerer's town, reported the death, and then boarded the Batwing.

"The Tinkerer is dead. Judging by the current weather conditions, he's been dead for about three days." As soon as he got back on the Batwing, Bruce contacted Jessica.

Jessica, meanwhile, was sitting with Aunt May, eating red date bread and watching a New York City soap opera on the control panel. But she still kept an eye on the communication feed and the issue with the Prowler.

Hearing Bruce's words, Jessica hastily put down her bread, worried that he might catch on to what she was doing.

But then she thought about it—wasn't eating bread something Bruce had arranged for in the first place?

With that thought, she relaxed.

However, upon hearing that the Tinkerer was dead, Jessica furrowed her brows.

"The one who killed him… was probably the Prowler."

By cross-referencing the Prowler's known locations and activity times, Bruce could already deduce the identity of the killer.

But why kill the Tinkerer? That part wasn't clear to him.

As long as the Tinkerer was alive, they had a steady supply of untraceable weapons.

Yet the Prowler had eliminated him.

The only explanation was that the Tinkerer had discovered something—something the Prowler didn't want anyone to know.

Bruce never considered the possibility of a dispute over spoils.

Because there was one thing about the Tinkerer—he only provided weapons, and he only accepted payment for them.

He never asked what people did with his weapons, nor did he care.

"The Prowler has moved again. He's heading towards an apartment in Brooklyn," Jessica immediately reported.

Before Bruce could respond, chaos erupted in New York City.

"Doctor Octopus and Scorpion have appeared near a bank!"

"There's another one… someone I've never seen before!"
