Chapter 69: Chapter 69: The Hope of Fairy Tail, George

Chapter 69: The Hope of Fairy Tail, George

"Sorry, I haven't fully mastered this spell yet, so the repairs are a bit slow. But if you give me some time, I can restore the entire hall in one go."

George landed back on the stool and retracted his magical wings.

In terms of combat strength, he felt that neither the offensive spells he currently knew nor his psychic abilities could match most of the mages here.

So, he decided to take a different approach.

Fairy Tail mages were notorious for causing destruction. As reported in the magazines, Gray had single-handedly wiped out the infamous Devon Thieves Clan but had also destroyed seven civilian houses in the process.

This kind of situation was common in Fairy Tail. Therefore, his ability to repair things would likely be highly valued and could help him pass the guild's entrance test.

Although his current strength wasn't enough to repair an entire house in one go, he could take his time if needed. After all, his magical energy wouldn't run out.

Once he mastered the spell, not just a house, but an entire street could be restored in an instant.

Most importantly, this would allow him to avoid combat. His goal was to learn and study magic, not to engage in battles.

Clink!

Master Makarov's mug fell to the ground. His eyes widened like copper bells, and his gaze at George seemed to spark with lightning-like sharpness.

In a flash, he appeared in front of George, grabbed him, and stuffed him into Mirajane's arms, shouting excitedly:

"Little Mirajane, hurry up and stamp George with the guild emblem! Quick!"

It seemed as if he was afraid George would fly away from the guild the next second.

George's guess was correct, but he had underestimated how much Makarov valued the Repair Charm. It wasn't just "possibly needed"—it was absolutely essential.

Despite Makarov's earlier passionate speech, telling the mages not to worry about the Magic Council and to do as they pleased, he was actually bleeding inside.

Not only did he have to swallow his pride and apologize to the council members, but the fines he had to pay had also left the guild's finances in a constant state of deficit.

Special mention went to Natsu and Gray.

The guild's income mainly came from commissions on mage missions. However, often, the rewards from these missions weren't enough to cover the damages caused by the mages.

If it weren't for a few reliable S-Class mages, the guild would have gone bankrupt long ago.

George's appearance gave Makarov a glimmer of hope.

He didn't need George to take on dangerous combat missions like the other mages. All he needed was for George to act as a "firefighter," helping to clean up after the other mages completed their missions.

Of course, George's current magical abilities might not be enough to handle the entire guild's messes.

But that was fine. If he couldn't do it now, he could be trained to do it in the future.

George was the hope of Fairy Tail's future!

With him, Makarov would no longer have to endure the Magic Council's scorn or struggle to pay fines every month.

So, it was no wonder that Makarov was so excited.

George, on the other hand, was also surprised. Before he could even react, he found himself stuffed into a soft embrace, and then his back was stamped with the guild emblem, turning him into a tattooed cat.

He had expected that demonstrating the Repair Charm would likely help him pass the test, but he hadn't anticipated Makarov's overwhelming reaction or his incredible speed.

To be honest, George felt that if Makarov had wanted to kill him, he wouldn't have even had time to react before it was over.

As a cat, his reflexes and dynamic vision were already sharp, and with the added physical enhancements from his other bodies, they were even sharper.

Yet, he was still far from matching Master Makarov.

This led George to conclude that, in future battles with mages in this world, he should try to keep his distance and avoid close combat.

He noticed that the mages in this world were like Gandalf—they loved close combat.

"Great! Now let's welcome our two new members, George and Lucy! Cheers!"

Seeing the emblem stamped on George's back, Makarov stood on the front desk, raised his mug, and laughed heartily.

The mages below also raised their mugs in celebration. However, as soon as they finished drinking, they rushed over to George.

"George, would you like to join our team? Our team—"

"No, their team is no good. Join our team instead—"

"George should join our team—"

It seemed that after seeing George's Repair Magic, everyone had the same idea: to recruit him into their team so they wouldn't have to worry about damages during missions.

Even Gray, who usually preferred to work alone, and Natsu, who already had Happy, rushed over to George.

Happy even tried to use their shared species as a way to bond with George, constantly talking about the benefits of teaming up with Natsu.

This scene left George stunned.

He hadn't expected that simply demonstrating his still-imperfect Repair Charm would cause such a stir.

Just as George was thinking about how to politely decline their offers, Natsu and Gray started fighting.

Soon, other mages joined the fray, and the scene quickly descended into chaos once again.

This time, however, the fight was over who had the right to invite George to join their team. The last one standing would earn that privilege.

"Hey... stop... fighting!"

George raised his paw, wanting to intervene, but he reluctantly lowered it.

He wanted to say that he had just repaired the hall, and if it got destroyed again, it would be a hassle to fix.

But he knew these reckless mages probably wouldn't listen.

To be honest, he felt that if the Fairy Tail mages were at Hogwarts, they would all be sorted into Gryffindor without exception.

Turning to Makarov, George saw the guild master frown. Makarov immediately put down his mug, transformed into a giant, and swiftly subdued all the mages.

"George will decide which team he wants to join. If any of you scare him off, I'll break all your legs!"

George was the hope of Fairy Tail's future. Makarov couldn't let these guys scare him away. If George left, Makarov would have nowhere to cry.

"And Gray and Natsu, you two better watch out. When Erza gets back, I'll have her deal with you."

Hearing Makarov's demonic roar, the mages nodded like chickens pecking at rice. When the Master was angry, he was terrifying, especially when he mentioned the even more terrifying "Titania" Erza.

If Erza found out they had upset the Master, they would be in serious trouble.

After all, even Natsu and Gray, the strongest among them, had challenged Erza to duels before.

In just a few moves, both had been beaten half to death.

If you made the Master angry, he might just scare you as a giant. But if you made Erza angry, she would genuinely beat you within an inch of your life.
