***Unique Ability***
- God of War (passive)
As soon as the system window opened, what caught my eye were my increasing level and the new abilities I gained. While my main level was rapidly increasing, the levels of my abilities hadn't increased at the same rate.
Anyway, that wasn't important right now. What mattered were the new abilities I had gained.
Without wasting any time, I focused on my first ability and read its description.
***Corpse Burning Flame (Lv.1)***
A red-orange flame that consumes and tortures someone alive upon contact, regardless of their type. This flame has infinite potential but is incredibly difficult to control.
*Effects:
- Deals additional damage to celestials, gods, etc.
- Grows stronger as it consumes corpses.
- Destruction
- Difficult to control!
After reading the description, I can say it seems like a rather ominous ability. But that doesn't bother me. This ability will be quite useful for me. Whether it's destroying the corpses of those I've killed or being useful for long-range attacks, it's definitely advantageous. The only problem is its difficult control. I don't know how difficult it is to control, but since it's emphasized twice, it must be quite challenging.
Time to read my other ability.
***Soul Burning Flame (Lv.1)***
A blue flame that damages and consumes the soul of the target upon touch. This flame has infinite potential but is incredibly difficult to control. Additionally, this flame does not cause any physical harm.
*Effects:
- Deals additional damage to demons, fiends, etc.
- Grows stronger as it consumes souls.
- Speed
- Difficult to control!
Two abilities that are opposites of each other. Actually, that's a good thing. As far as I understand, whenever I surpass a certain threshold in level, I gain one ability from each affinity. So, a total of three. My wind-related ability is removed since it's not relevant anymore.
My Dawnbringer and Nightbringer abilities complement each other like two pieces of a puzzle, providing me with a perfect combination.
***Whisper of the Winds (Passive) (Lv.1)***
The user can perceive the location and movement of everything around them (distance increases as level increases) by listening to the sound of the wind.
*Effects:
- Absolute awareness
This ability is quite simple compared to the other two abilities. However, it could be more useful than the other two at the same time.
After examining my new abilities, something else caught my eye.
Although I haven't gained a new unique ability yet, the section where my unique abilities are located was glowing. I don't know what this means, but I might be close to gaining a new unique ability.
Closing the system window, I opened my right palm.
A blue flame formed in my palm, covering my entire hand, ignoring my attempts to shape it into another form with my thoughts.
*I'll deal with this later.*
When I clenched my right hand into a fist, the blue flame extinguished as if it had never been there.
For now, I don't think I can use these flames for long-range attacks.
When I extinguished the blue flame, Gwen quickly entered the kitchen and inspected the kitchen with a furrowed brow.
Seeing the expression on her face, I asked, "What's wrong?"
My words caused the expression on Gwen's face to disappear and a small smile, which made her look quite sweet, appeared on her face.
"Nothing," Gwen said, smiling.
Honestly, I didn't believe her words at all. I continued to look at Gwen with an expression clearly indicating my disbelief.
To avoid my gaze, Gwen left the kitchen, shouting, "Hurry up, I'm starving!"
***
*Why did my spider senses react?* Gwen wondered as she sat down on the couch.
Moments ago, her spider sense warned her of a great danger in the kitchen. Taking heed of the warning, Gwen was afraid. After all, her brother was in the kitchen.
*Thankfully, nothing happened,* she thought, holding her heart. Her brother had just recovered, and she didn't want him to get hurt.
"Gwen! Don't just lie there! Go wake up Dad!"
Zephyr's shout interrupted Gwen's thoughts.
"Okay!"
Gwen shouted as she got up from the couch and headed towards the room where her father was sleeping. She had come home very late last night, so he was still asleep.
***
"Hey! Damn it, carry the weapons properly!" I shouted at the guy in front of me.
Today, we were doing an important job, and there was no room for error. The Hammerhead family asked me to protect these weapons during the trade. In return, I would receive a large amount of money.
Actually, this was my first and last mission with the Hammerhead family. The reason being that this family was dangerous. There was no room for error in this family, and the more missions I did, the higher the chance of making a mistake.
"Eel! This container is completely full!" one guy shouted.
Turning to him, I said, "Then fill the other containers."
"Also, bring me Eddie," I added.
My words and the threatening nature of my costume must have scared him, as his voice trembled when he replied.
"O-okay... I'm sorry."
Nodding to him, I looked around.
Something was wrong...
It felt like the surrounding sounds were decreasing as time passed.
Hurrying towards the unfilled weapon containers, I searched for the workers, but there was no trace of them.
"AHHHHHHHHGG!"
When a scream came from where I had been moments ago, I quickly rushed back.
Upon returning, I saw the person who had caused the silence. He had just plunged his hand into the chest of the man I had spoken to earlier.
I had no idea how he did it, but if I didn't want to die, I had to kill him and take his body to the Hammerhead family. Otherwise, I would be the one who failed to do the job properly and ended up dead.
Walking towards him, I said, "You made a big mistake coming here."
Electric arcs crackled around my hands, illuminating the darkness of the night.
"It seems Diana wasn't lying. There's definitely a freak here," the man said, looking at the electric arcs generated by my costume.
"Also, you're the one who made a big mistake. You should have run away from here," he added and disappeared with a gust of wind, leaving from where he stood.
