Marvel:Nightbringer

9-Massacre

9-Massacre

"Fury, I've arrived at the bar you mentioned," Rogers said, bringing one hand up to his ear.

"Alright, Captain, be careful. Even though their energies are low, they are Nightbringers."

"Understood. I'll proceed with caution."

After uttering these words, Rogers lowered his hand from his ear and glanced around at the soldiers surrounding him.

"You all stay out here and keep watch," he instructed, then proceeded toward the door.

"And don't enter without my word," he added.

As Rogers entered through the door, he was greeted by two corpses. Judging by the freshness of the bodies and the blood on the ground, it couldn't have been more than a few hours since their demise.

Rogers glanced at the two bodies for a few seconds before making his way toward the broken door. While the sight of two corpses might have been surprising to others, it wasn't to him. Rogers was a soldier and had seen many corpses in his lifetime. Therefore, corpses didn't faze him.

At least that's what he thought before entering the room...

"Damn it..." Rogers muttered under his breath as he looked at the scattered human remains.

Hearing Rogers's astonished voice, Fury spoke up.

"Captain! Report!"

Although Rogers heard Fury's voice, he remained silent. The scene before him had left him stunned. While he had seen more corpses during the war, he had never witnessed such brutal carnage. Each body had been dismembered into at least two parts, some even into four.

"ROGERS!"

Fury's exclamation snapped Rogers out of his stupor.

"We've suffered significant casualties. If I were to estimate the number... I'd say around forty," Rogers reported.

"You say 'if I were to estimate'? Why the uncertainty?" Fury inquired.

"All the bodies... have been dismembered," Rogers replied.

Even Fury fell silent upon hearing these words. Nightbringers killed people, but they did it in a straightforward and direct manner. They certainly didn't dismember them.

After a long silence, Fury asked, "And the Nightbringers?"

"There's no trace of them," Rogers stated as he surveyed the room.

"Ah... alright, you can return-" Fury's speech was interrupted by Rogers's shout.

"Wait!! There's a pile of ashes on the ground!" Rogers exclaimed.

"Wait!! There's a pile of ashes on the ground!"

Hearing these words through his earpiece, Fury stood up in astonishment from his chair.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Absolutely, it's nothing but ash left behind by a Nightbringer!"

These words provided some explanations but also raised more questions.

"Did they fight each other? Or was this Nightbringer killed by someone else..." Fury pondered aloud.

"So far, there have been no reports of two Nightbringers fighting each other. I'd say someone else killed this Nightbringer," Rogers said.

Fury nodded in agreement. The Captain was right. Nightbringers didn't fight each other. He didn't know who killed this Nightbringer, but one thing he knew was that they needed to find out.

"The cameras?" Fury inquired.

"The cameras in this area were destroyed by the Hammerhead family," Captain replied.

*Sigh* Alright, you can return. I'll talk to the generals and see if they can find this guy for us.

"Massacre in Brooklyn. A Nightbringer attacked a bar in Brooklyn. According to the information received, thirty people lost their lives..."

The sound of the television in the living room woke me up, as my bedroom door was left open. I picked up my old-model phone from beside my bed and checked the time.

Damn, it's eight in the morning.

I've never been an early riser in my past life or this one. I usually woke up in the afternoon. Well, the reason for that was because I worked until late at night.

*Sigh*

I got out of bed and walked out of my room with slow steps.

As I stepped out of my room, I was greeted by the sight of an open television and Gwen lying on the couch in her pajamas.

As soon as I stepped out, she turned her head toward me and rushed over to me at an abnormally fast pace, embracing me tightly.

"Hey! My dad told me you went out yesterday!" Gwen said angrily.

Her words made me smile. George had eyes almost everywhere in the city.

I ignored Gwen's words and stepped back, observing her for a moment. Then, I asked, "What happened to your tooth?"

Half of one of Gwen's front teeth was missing. I didn't know how she broke it, but I'm sure it must have hurt.

"My words are not to be ignored!" she shouted and lunged at me.

Well, her physical attributes were definitely not normal. I wonder if she's aware of that.

Gwen grabbed my hair and pulled, "And you were so close to the massacre. What if something happened to you? From now on, don't go out without letting me know!" she said.

"I should be telling you that..." I whispered.

Although I whispered, it seemed Gwen heard me.

Dropping her head in front of mine, she said, "It's only been two months since you healed. We don't know how well your body is functioning. You shouldn't go out without seeing a doctor first," she said.

I chuckled at her words.

"I don't know if you're aware, but you're sitting on my shoulders right now," I said with a smile.

"Ah!"

Hearing my words, Gwen covered her mouth in surprise. Then she got off my shoulders and observed me to see if there were any problems.

With a surprised expression, she whispered, "You're definitely healing very fast..."

"Yeah, so don't tell me what to do," I said, squeezing her cheeks with both of my hands.

After squeezing Gwen's cheeks for a few seconds, I let go. Her cheeks were now bright red from the pressure I applied.

"I'm not a kid... so stop squeezing my cheeks," Gwen said angrily.

Despite the angry expression on Gwen's face, I knew she enjoyed it.

Having a sister is definitely not bad at all...

I turned away and walked toward the kitchen, saying, "In my eyes, you'll always be a kid."

My words must have angered her because I felt her throw the remote at me.

Well, it wouldn't be accurate to say I felt it. It was more like the wind told me. Tilting my head to the side, I avoided the remote and caught it mid-air.

Then, I entered the kitchen and prepared the ingredients to cook.

But before I started cooking, there were a few things I needed to do.

*System!* I thought.
