Chapter 140: Omega's Power
*Rumble…*
The sky darkened as a strong wind began to howl around the hotel.
However, despite the thickening clouds and intensifying winds, there was no sign of rain.
After a while, Lorna could only ask the other party to stop using their powers, "Can't your ability summon a rainstorm?"
Hearing this, Ororo looked at her in confusion, unsure how to respond. Seeing Ororo's reaction, Lorna could only shake her head in disappointment.
"Never mind, you can go."
Recently, several X-Men mutants who came to help had similar limitations, leaving Lorna deeply unsatisfied.
Still, she understood that this was Adam's way of supporting her, so she couldn't complain too much.
After Ororo left, Lorna began pondering other ways to generate water.
Just as she was lost in thought, a bald woman descended from the sky and landed outside the hotel.
It was Cassandra.
Behind her were Logan and Victor, both under her control.
Upon arriving in the ruins of Baghdad City, Cassandra surveyed her surroundings with a slight frown.
"So, this is the so-called mutant kingdom? It looks more desolate than the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse."
Indeed, ever since the zombie crisis, Baghdad City resembled a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Burnt buildings, explosions, abandoned vehicles, and corpses scattered the streets painted a bleak picture.
The scene left Cassandra disappointed.
After a moment, her gaze fell on the still-intact hotel, and she started walking toward it.
*Tap, tap, tap…*
The sound of her high heels echoed on the concrete ground. Logan and Victor followed closely behind, their expressions blank.
The group's presence was soon noticed.
"Stop! Who are you? I don't recognize you!" A young man stepped forward to block Cassandra's path.
He had a cocky demeanor, short green hair with a shaved middle, and heavy makeup. His whole look screamed "punk."
Cassandra's eyes lit up with faint interest at the sight of him.
"What's your ability?"
In her previous world, after the apocalypse, no one cared about appearances anymore. People fought to the death over basic necessities, with no time for such flamboyance.
This was one reason she'd grown tired of her old world.
The young man perked up at her question.
"My ability? I can change the color of my hair! It's super cool. Green's my favorite—it's eco-friendly, and my friends love it. Even my girlfriend says it suits me!"
As he rambled on, Cassandra waved her hand impatiently, using her powers to control him.
"Take me to your leader."
The green-haired man nodded blankly.
"Yes."
Moments later, the four of them entered the hotel.
"Hey, Shar, new friends?"
"Shar, your girlfriend's busy on the fourth floor."
"Haha, good afternoon, Shar!"
It was clear the hotel's mutants were familiar with the young man. Many greeted him along the way, though their expressions carried a hint of mockery.
Cassandra paid no mind to these trivial details.
Soon, they reached a high floor where Lorna sat, deep in thought. At this point, Shar stopped and pointed toward Lorna.
"She's our leader…"
As he spoke, he snapped back to his senses, looking around in confusion.
"Huh? How did I get here?"
Lorna's subordinates, noticing Cassandra's group, immediately grew alert.
"Who are you?"
"What are you here for?"
Cassandra ignored the insignificant voices and turned her attention to Lorna.
"You're Lorna? The leader of this group?"
Lorna looked up, puzzled.
"Yes, who are you? Are you here to join us?"
Lately, many mutants had come seeking refuge, so she didn't think much of Cassandra at first.
But in the next moment, her eyes fell on Logan and Victor behind Cassandra.
"What happened to you two? Why aren't you saying anything? Wait… you're under her control!"
Cassandra smirked confidently at Lorna's quick realization.
"Not bad, you're sharp.
I am the ruler of this world. Kneel before me!"
After delivering her dramatic line, Cassandra extended her hand, attempting to seize control of Lorna's mind.
But before her powers could take hold, a metal helmet suddenly flew through the air and landed on Lorna's head.
In an instant, Cassandra's psychic influence was blocked, as if hitting an unyielding wall.
"Huh? Interesting…"
Before she could say more, Lorna raised her hand.
"Kill her!"
The surrounding metal surged forward, aimed directly at Cassandra.
"Logan! Victor!"
Logan and Victor immediately moved to shield Cassandra, obeying her commands.
Lorna, knowing their regenerative abilities, didn't hold back and continued her assault. The other mutants present joined the fray, unleashing vines, fireballs, ice spikes, and more.
Lorna's subordinates were no weaklings; their abilities were far beyond those of ordinary mutants.
But in the next moment, all their attacks stopped and turned against Lorna's metal barrage.
Cassandra had taken control of everyone nearby in an instant.
With her allies turning on her, Lorna quickly found herself at a disadvantage.
While Logan and Victor could withstand heavy attacks, the others couldn't. Lorna hesitated, unwilling to fatally harm her own people.
In this dire situation, she shouted, "Father, help me!"
The entire hotel began to tremble as steel beams emerged from its walls.
Cassandra reacted swiftly, using her psychic powers to contest control over the metal.
Though manipulating objects wasn't her specialty, her power as an Omega-level mutant rivaled even that of Lorna and Magneto.
Soon, she began to gain the upper hand, "I'll give you one last chance. Kneel before me now!"
Lorna felt immense pressure, sweat forming on her forehead.
Meanwhile, in the top floor of the hotel, Magneto, now a mutated zombie, began to falter under the strain.
