Marvel Transmigration: I Possessed Iron Man

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: A Date with Betty (Part 2)

Sometimes, she thought about walking away from everything, starting fresh somewhere no one knew her name. She didn't want to live exhausted anymore.

"Haha, I only show this side of me to beautiful women. If it were anyone else, I wouldn't be so chatty," Aetheris said with a grin.

The two of them clicked like old friends, their conversation flowing effortlessly.

It was the first time since arriving in this world that Aetheris had enjoyed talking with someone so much.

"Sir, Miss, your kopi luwak coffee is here."

The international student set down their drinks and gave a polite nod. "Please enjoy."

"Hold on, let me take care of the bill." Aetheris pulled out several hundred-dollar bills and handed them over. "Keep the change. Consider the rest your tip."

"Thank you very much, sir."

The student left with a smile. Tonight's tip was enough to cover a week's worth of hard work.

"Mr. Big Shot, you just threw a few hundred dollars at them. Are all rich people that generous?" Betty Ross dropped a sugar cube into her coffee and stirred it slowly with a small spoon.

"Of course not. My money doesn't fall from the sky. But if a few hundred bucks can make someone's night, and make me feel good in the process, why not?" Aetheris added sugar to his coffee, speaking casually. "Happiness is priceless."

"Happiness is priceless…" Betty Ross echoed softly.

"I haven't felt happy in a long time. Lately, happiness feels like a luxury—rarer than any scientific breakthrough."

"Scientific challenges have formulas… but what's the formula for happiness?" Betty Ross's gaze drifted, a shadow crossing her face as unpleasant memories surfaced.

A sudden gust of wind rippled across the nearby spring pond.

In that moment, Betty Ross resembled a quiet, hidden sanctuary—pure, deep, untouched.

I don't know the formula for a man's happiness, Aetheris thought with a hint of mischief, but for women… the key to happiness lies straight between their legs.

"I've recently been buying up shares of Oscorp. Planning to step into bioengineering, see how far we can push human potential. Miss Ross, interested in joining me?" Aetheris suddenly tossed out a line that shattered the mood.

But seeing Betty lost in her thoughts, Aetheris had no choice but to change the subject again.

"Is that so? That would be a major leap for bioengineering." The moment her field came up, Betty Ross snapped into professional mode.

"But will Oscorp even let you buy in? If I remember right, Oscorp like your Stark Industries—is a family-run company."

"Hmph, I didn't have the opportunity before. But Oscorp recently invested in a project—developing a military-grade enhancement serum. They've hit a technical wall, and now the military's considering pulling their funding," Aetheris recalled the Green Goblin's twisted origin.

Oscorp was standing on the edge of collapse.

Without his interference, the Green Goblin would have tested the serum on himself, killed his assistant, and taken out a few top military officials along the way.

But evil never wins. In the end, the Green Goblin died a tragic death at Spider-Man's hands.

"A scummy company like that deserves to sink. If you can pull it off, I'll owe you big time," Betty Ross said through clenched teeth.

"You still haven't answered my question. If I take over Oscorp, would you be willing to work for me?" There was steel in Aetheris's voice now.

"You really are the domineering CEO type. But if you can actually take down Oscorp, I'll consider it… as long as the salary impresses me," Betty Ross replied with a teasing smile.

"No problem. If you agree to come aboard, I'll gift you the company itself. How's that?" Aetheris burst out laughing, his tone bold and carefree.

"For Oscorp's downfall!"

"Down with corporate tyranny!"

"Cheers!"

"Cheers!"

Their eyes met, mugs clinking crisply in the air.

This time, Aetheris didn't rush. He knew he could exploit Betty's emotional wounds to reach his goals, but that wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted a complete, independent Betty—someone with her own fire, someone who would willingly fall for him. Not a broken shell acting on impulse.

It was the first time he'd ever treated a woman like this… just like he had treated his first love in his past life.

Serious and sincere, yet warm and playful.

"Thanks for the coffee," Betty Ross said, tucking both hands into the pockets of her low-rise jeans.

Aetheris couldn't help but swallow at the sight of that hint of bare skin at her waist.

He walked her all the way to the faculty apartments at Culver University.

Though it was their first meeting, their conversation had been natural and easy, as if they'd known each other forever.

There was no academic discussion tonight—just the casual warmth of two kindred spirits reconnecting.

Aetheris shared a few of the lame jokes he remembered from his previous life. Surprisingly, those dry one-liners from the proud citizenry abroad had an overwhelming effect on an American beauty like her.

She laughed until she couldn't breathe.

"Thank you, Tony. This has been the happiest night I've had in a long time," Betty Ross said genuinely, her emerald eyes sparkling like stars.

"It's my honor. If you're up for it, I'd love to invite you to my place. There's a Disneyland there—we'd have a blast," Aetheris said, his words layered with meaning.

"Really? I haven't been to Disneyland in years. The last time was with my mom… I miss it," Betty Ross said wistfully.

Dr. Banner, by comparison, was painfully dull—obsessed with gamma radiation and enhancement serums. The man was a full-blown science addict.

Seven PhDs. Seriously… how is that even possible?

"No problem. Let's swap numbers. I'll call you this Saturday," Aetheris said, pulling out his phone.

"Deal. Don't stand me up."

"I wouldn't dream of it."

"Well… I should head upstairs."

"Ah, right… guess I should head home too. It's getting late," Aetheris replied, scratching his head awkwardly.

"Goodnight… Mr. Big Shot."

"Goodnight… Miss Betty."

Betty bit her lip playfully, eyes sparkling with laughter, and skipped happily back to her dorm.

Meanwhile, Aetheris practically jumped three feet into the air, pumping his fist like he'd just won the world championship.

A perfect evening, wasn't it?

Oscorp Tower

The laboratory lights blazed brightly. Norman Osborn was adjusting equipment on one side, while his assistant, Dr. Burke, prepared a dose of green-colored human enhancement serum, injecting it into the testing chamber.

Soon, the containment chamber—prepared for Victor—filled with vaporized serum. The entire unit turned a murky green, making it impossible to see what was happening inside.
