Chapter 270: Chapter 270: Hela's Suspicion
"The person who just left was Hela..." Gwen explained to Alan, who broke into a cold sweat. If that was the case, Hela was likely already suspicious of him.
To avoid exposing his identity, Alan hurriedly coordinated alibis with everyone.
"When Hela comes back, just tell her the Emperor hasn't been here. Say I've been gone this long because I was participating in a school experiment."
Gwen nodded, and Wanda agreed as well. Only then did the two notice the young girl beside Alan. Gwen asked curiously, "Alan, who's this? Don't tell me... she's your illegitimate daughter?"
Alan laughed at Gwen's wild guess and quickly explained, "She is Red Queen. You could call her my assistant now." Alan wasn't sure how to explain further—he couldn't just say she was a supercomputer, or he might scare them half to death.
"An assistant, huh? But what if Hela comes back? How do we explain her?" Gwen pressed on.
Alan felt a headache coming on. Earlier, Hela had already seen him as the Emperor with the Red Queen. Now that the Emperor wasn't present, it would be difficult to explain.
"Just say the Emperor dropped her off to stay here for a few days. Anyway, I'm leaving as soon as summer vacation starts."
Hearing this, Gwen and Wanda widened their eyes in surprise.
"Where are you going?"
Alan didn't tell them. He hadn't finalized his plans, and unforeseen changes might arise.
At lunchtime, Red Queen and Wanda worked together to prepare the meal. Hela tiptoed lightly from the living room, watching the harmonious scene in the kitchen with a suspicious expression.
In her mind, Wanda and Gwen had never been so warm and friendly toward any man before. How could Alan, as an assistant, receive this kind of treatment?
Suddenly, Red Queen walked out of the kitchen. Upon seeing her, Hela shouted, "Isn't this the little girl who was with the Emperor?"
Alan's heart tightened, but he quickly calmed himself. "Emperor brought her here. He'll pick her up in a few days," he replied.
Hela stood up and began looking around.
"Emperor? When was he here? Where is he now?"
Gwen pressed the anxious Hela back into her chair.
"Emperor already left. You know how busy he usually is. He didn't say much—just dropped her off and left," Gwen explained.
Disheartened, Hela slumped over the table, visibly upset at missing the Emperor. She felt like her month-long wait had been in vain.
But doubts lingered in her mind. Previously, the Emperor had Wanda with him at the Sanctum Sanctorum, and soon after, Wanda appeared in Alan's home. Now, the Emperor had a young girl with him, and she too ended up in Alan's home.
Even more suspiciously, Gwen was living here as well. Their behavior made Hela curious. After all, no ordinary man could command the loyalty of so many people—unless that man had a special identity!
Hela turned to Alan and suddenly asked, "Are you the Emperor?"
The room fell silent. Alan quickly responded, "What are you talking about? How could the Emperor be here? He left long ago."
For the moment, Hela's suspicions were quelled. Alan wasted no time and left the house with the Red Queen. Staying any longer would only invite more probing questions from Hela.
