Chapter 282: C181(2)
Unwilling to let go of his ambitions, Danzo resorted to his own methods to develop and expand Root, waiting for the right opportunity to reclaim power.
"At least twenty of them can become Chūnin," the instructor reported, "but it will take several years of training."
Danzo's expression hardened. "Years... that's too long. I'll prepare a batch of medicine for you. Starting tomorrow, increase the training intensity by 30%. Only those who survive will be admitted into Root."
"Yes, Lord Danzo."
"And what about Shizune?"
"She's performing excellently. I feed her information about Jōnin Kato Dan from time to time. Driven by her hatred, she's mastered the spirit technique and learned various assassination methods," the Root ninja replied. "She's completed seventeen C-rank missions and nine B-rank missions. None of her targets are still alive."
"Well done."
Hearing this, Danzo was thoroughly satisfied with Shizune's progress. Without Konoha's restrictions, Root's development had accelerated several times over.
He felt it wouldn't be long before he had the strength to return to Konoha and reclaim his influence.
Meanwhile, Kain reviewed his recent acquisitions.
All future technologies were organized and cataloged by the Red Queen. Once he returned to the Marvel world, another Red Queen could receive and process all the data.
As for metal resources, they could be manufactured into engineering robots or new-energy war machines once he got back.
The expansion of his power base would greatly aid resource collection. Now, with just a command, hundreds of people across the ninja world were running errands for him.
Even Kakuzu, a Kage-level ninja, traveled extensively, gathering materials.
After amassing a large number of resources, Kain planned to send them back to the Marvel world. Otherwise, they'd just sit idle in his spatial backpack or the non-marking expansion pouch.
Once he finished packing, Kain returned to Konoha, ready to say goodbye to Kushina.
By chance, he ran into Tsunade, who had come to visit Kushina to vent. She'd been in a bad mood lately, uninterested in even handling paperwork, so she decided to see Kushina instead.
However, when Tsunade arrived, her eyes lit up. She knew Kushina had moved to a new home but didn't expect it to be this nice—especially within Konoha.
Kain never skimped on comfort when he had the means, and he'd used magic to transform the environment, making it exceptionally livable with enchantments.
Not long after she arrived, Tsunade decided to stay for a while. Kushina wanted to refuse, but the words caught in her throat—she couldn't exactly tell Tsunade that things might get noisy at night.
She'd hoped to invite Tsunade over after Kain had left.
"Tsunade… I think she's really just here for my wine cabinet," Kushina muttered, half-joking, half-exasperated.
It was already night when Kain returned to Konoha, and after hearing Kushina's words, he immediately guessed Tsunade's real intention.
He rarely drank, but his wine cabinet was fully stocked, covering an entire wall. It held many famous wines from both the Marvel world and the biochemical world.
This collection was highly attractive to Tsunade, so she conveniently found an excuse to stay over.
The fact that Tsunade casually opened one of Kain's finest bottles during dinner made it clear—she wasn't the type to care much about living arrangements, especially given her habit of leaving clothes scattered everywhere.
Kain remembered how Tsunade had once insisted he stay in the Senju compound under the guise of protecting him. With that in mind, he decided against kicking her out.
"Forget it," he said. "Let her stay. It's good for you to have some company."
There wasn't anything particularly special here except for the magic, and there was no chance Tsunade would ever grasp that. So, it didn't really matter if she stayed.
"I thought the same," Kushina replied, "but, ah~... wait a minute, I'm going—"
Before she could finish, Kain suddenly scooped her up, and with a quick apparition, they were in the bedroom.
Just as Kushina was about to say something, a wave of desire surged through her, intensifying quickly. She knew Kain would be leaving for a while soon, so she decided to take the initiative.
It didn't take long before soft whispers and gasps filled the room. Kushina, caught in a haze of pleasure, felt like she was forgetting something important. But under Kain's relentless pace, any stray thoughts melted away completely.
Meanwhile, in the guest room, Tsunade, tipsy and relaxed, began to notice faint sounds drifting through the walls.
At first, she ignored them, attributing it to her imagination—or maybe the wine. But as the sounds continued, persistent and unmistakable, she found it impossible to fall asleep.
As the alcohol's effects began to wear off, Tsunade sat up in bed, annoyed. She was just about to get up and investigate when she suddenly froze, realizing what she was hearing.
Her face turned bright red. 'Why is Kushina so loud? Didn't she lock the door?'
Though Tsunade had always been single, she wasn't clueless about this kind of thing. Now, she regretted staying the night just because of a few drinks.
But earlier that afternoon, Kushina had told her it was better to have Kain pick her up if she needed to leave—the area was magically protected, and it could be troublesome navigating it alone.
Still, there was no way Tsunade was going to face Kushina now.
'Forget it', she thought, 'I'll just ignore these two and sleep!'
Tsunade pulled the blanket over her head, trying to block out the sounds, but even that wasn't enough. The muffled noises persisted, making it impossible to drift off.
After tossing and turning for a while, Tsunade found herself uncomfortably aware of the heat pooling in her body. She clenched her teeth, frustrated, as her legs involuntarily rubbed together beneath the sheets.
'I shouldn't have stayed here...'
