Chapter 17: Chapter 16: Let's Do Drugs Guys
Tony sat cross-legged on his bed, cradling the briefcase in his arms like a prized possession, a mad grin plastered across his face. He had done it. The deal had been made, the transaction complete, and now, in his hands, was the key to unlocking a new level of genius. His fingers trembled with excitement as he clicked open the latches and lifted the lid, revealing the neatly arranged bottles of the NZT-48 pills and booster shots inside.
Reaching into the case, he opened a bottle and took one of the small, clear pills, holding it up to the light. "That's one small step for man…" he whispered to himself, "…and a giant leap for me!"
Without hesitation, he popped the pill into his mouth and swallowed.
Boom.
The world around him exploded in clarity. It wasn't just a feeling—it was a revelation. Every thought, every memory, every piece of knowledge he had ever encountered suddenly aligned into perfect cohesion. Patterns that once seemed random now had meaning. The connections between everything—science, history, mathematics, engineering—became obvious, as if they had always been there, just waiting for him to notice.
Tears welled in his eyes as he muttered, "I was once blind, but now I can see."
Then a new thought struck him.
"EVERYONE MUST KNOW!"
His mind raced. He had to tell his father, Sage, Jarvis, his mother—anyone who could understand. Not the whole world, obviously. Not yet. But the people who mattered. This was too big, too incredible, to keep to himself.
Rushing down the hallway, he burst into Howard's office, barely able to contain his excitement. "Dad! I got something great!"
Howard barely looked up from his papers, raising an eyebrow at his son's uncharacteristic enthusiasm. "Son, what did you do?"
Tony smirked. "I went on a little trip…"
Howard set down his pen and sighed, rubbing his temples. "Tony, we agreed you wouldn't go anywhere until you got older and stronger."
"My powers are already plenty strong," Tony said, waving off the concern. "And it's not like you can stop me."
Howard narrowed his eyes but then sighed in reluctant agreement. "Fair point. But that doesn't mean I can't ground you. So what is this 'great' thing you're talking about?"
Tony grinned. "Don't ask. Just trust me."
Howard frowned. "That's the exact kind of sentence that makes me want to ask even more."
Tony held up a small, clear pill. "Take this."
Howard studied the pill in his son's hand. "This isn't some kind of drug, is it?"
"It's better than a drug," Tony said, practically bouncing with excitement. "Just trust me, Dad."
Howard hesitated for a moment before shrugging. "Fine." Without further question, he took the pill and swallowed it like a champ.
Boom.
Howard's eyes widened, his breath catching in his throat. He looked around the room as if seeing it for the first time. Then, to Tony's amusement, a single tear rolled down his father's cheek.
"The world…" Howard murmured. "It's so beautiful."
Tony sighed, shaking his head. "I wonder if this is going to be a thing."
Not long after, they gathered the family together in the Stark mansion's meeting room. Maria, Jarvis, and Sage sat around the table, looking at Tony with a mix of curiosity and concern. Sage, now fully aware of Tony's abilities and schemes, had quickly adjusted to her new reality. If anything, she was the most eager to hear what Tony had to say.
"Behold, plebeians, my latest discovery!" Tony declared dramatically.
Maria pinched the bridge of her nose. "Tony, what did you do this time?"
Tony proceeded to explain everything—the pill, his deal with Eddie Morra, and the long list of enhancements the drug provided. He paced back and forth as he listed them off:
Hypermind: Unparalleled intelligence and cognitive processing.
Perfect recall: Flawless memory retention.
Instant learning: Absorption of knowledge at an accelerated rate.
Omnilingualism: Incredibly fast ability to be learn all languages.
Superhuman charisma: Persuasive speech and leadership abilities.
Superhuman dexterity: Perfect muscle control and mimicry.
Multitasking: The ability to process multiple tasks flawlessly.
Superhuman instincts: Advanced intuition and strategic foresight.
Hyper competence: Mastery of any skill with ease.
Enhanced synesthesia: The ability to cross-sense information (seeing sounds, tasting colors, etc.).
Maria blinked in astonishment. "So… this pill makes you smarter?"
Tony smirked. "Not just smarter, Mom. SMARTER. In all caps"
Sage's eyes gleamed with excitement. "You mean… if I take it, my mind will evolve even further?"
Tony tossed her a pill. "See for yourself."
Without hesitation, Sage swallowed it, her eyes widening as the effects hit her instantly. She gripped the edge of the table, a slow grin spreading across her face. "If my mind was a supercomputer before… now it's like a quantum computer." She exhaled, her excitement palpable. "The things I can think of now… are amazing."
Maria eyed her son warily. "Is this safe?"
Tony nodded. "That's what the booster shots are for. No side effects that way."
Maria hesitated, then took one herself. Within moments, her eyes widened, and she gasped. "I will know all the flowers in my garden!" Then her expression turned serious. "No, I will learn botany and genetic engineering. I will create the ultimate flowers!"
Everyone stared at her.
Howard coughed. "Uh, that's… certainly an ambition."
Then Jarvis, ever the faithful butler, took a pill himself. His face remained stoic, but then he slowly smirked. "I can become the ultimate butler. No… the super butler. No… the mega butler."
Tony groaned, smacking his forehead. "What have I done?"
Howard chuckled. "You've created a family of super-geniuses, son. What's next?"
Tony leaned back in his chair. "Well, now that we're all ridiculously overpowered intellectually, we need to start solving some of our problems."
Sage nodded. "Agreed. Do we have any pressing matters?"
Howard looked up. "Actually, Tony, I'm having a bit of trouble with Luo Feng."
Tony raised an eyebrow. "The martial artist?"
Howard nodded. "He's hesitant to join us. Something about not wanting to put his abilities into the wrong hands."
Tony tapped his fingers together, then grinned. "Easy fix. We tempt him. Tell him about the super soldier serum we're working on. Then tell him about NZT-48. No martial artist could say no to the ability to analyze and master every fighting style in existence instantly."
Howard smirked. "That… might actually work."
Tony grinned. "Of course it will. I'm a genius."
Howard laughed. "Alright, kid. Let's see where this crazy plan of yours takes us."
