Chapter 16: Chapter 15: Tony Buys Drugs
Time passed, and life at the Stark estate settled into a productive rhythm. Tutors came daily to educate Sage, covering everything from basic schooling to business and finance. She was a quick learner, absorbing knowledge at an accelerated rate, and soon enough, she started calling Tony 'brother.' The first time she did it, Tony couldn't help but grin.
Meanwhile, Howard continued his negotiations with the Shaolin master, in an attempt to secure a suitable martial arts instructor for Tony's physical training. But Tony had other plans as well. He was now five years old, and it was time for his next adventure.
Activating his abilities, he reached out into the void and allowed his teleportation powers to take him somewhere unknown. When the light around him faded, he found himself in what looked like New York City—except something felt… off.
As he walked the bustling streets, he accidentally bumped into a man who looked eerily like the actor Bradley Cooper.
"Watch where you're going, kid," the man muttered, barely giving Tony a glance.
Tony narrowed his eyes and immediately began following him. The man sighed, clearly noticing the tail. "Kid, what do you want?"
Tony smirked. "NZT-48, please," he said, holding out his tiny hand expectantly.
The man stopped in his tracks and turned fully to face Tony. "Excuse me?"
Tony didn't falter. "Let's get some coffee. Then we'll talk."
Curious, the man led Tony to a small, out-of-the-way café where they found a quiet corner to sit. "Alright, kid, I don't know how you know about the NZT, but let's say, hypothetically, I have access to it. Why should I just hand it over to you?"
Tony leaned forward with a knowing grin. "If you don't, I'll tell the world that you not only have access to NZT-48 but also the immunity shot that removes all of its side effects. That should put you on just about every watchlist forever. Governments, corporations, billionaires—everyone will want what you have. Do you really want that kind of attention?"
The man—Eddie Morra—growled in response, but his mind was already running calculations. After a few moments, he sighed. "Fine. But I won't do it for free. You have to give me something of equal value."
Tony went silent, then suddenly grinned. "Eureka! I got just the thing."
Eddie raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Tony leaned in conspiratorially. "My dad is working on clean energy—something called the Arc Reactor. It's a top-secret project, but I have the schematics memorized. Not only do I know how to build it, but I also know how to miniaturize it."
Eddie looked skeptical. "A kid like you has that kind of knowledge?"
Tony smirked. "It only takes 1.6 grams of palladium, about 45 dollars worth, and you have a device capable of producing 3 gigajoules of energy per second."
Eddie's jaw nearly dropped. "You know how to do all this… without NZT?"
"Yep! And I'll be so much more with it!" Tony cackled, raising his hands like a tiny mad scientist.
Eddie exhaled, rubbing his temples. "So, let me get this straight. You want NZT." Tony Interjects "A year's supply of NZT, several booster shots, and the full manufacturing process of both" Eddie says "And in return, you'll give me your dad's life's work?"
Tony grinned. "Yep. Plus, with the Arc Reactor, you can solve the world's energy crisis. No more fossil fuels, no more global warming. You'll be the man who made it happen. A hero!"
Eddie thought it over, calculating the risks and rewards, then finally nodded. "Deal."
They returned to Eddie's penthouse suite, where Tony began sketching out the schematics while Eddie gathered the requested materials. When Eddie handed Tony the files on a USB stick, he was baffled when the boy asked for them on a floppy disk instead.
"Seriously?" Eddie asked. "Why do you want it on an ancient storage device?"
Tony smirked and said "the customer is always right" but thought to himself "we haven't even invented the stupid USB drive back in my world."
Once everything was compiled into a briefcase, Tony took it, looking every bit like a miniature businessman. "Well, it's been a pleasure doing business with you."
Before Eddie could respond, Tony teleported away right in front of him.
Eddie froze, mind racing. "Teleportation? Maybe time travel? Maybe he's not even from this universe?" He ran the possibilities in his head before ultimately shaking it off. "Eh, it doesn't matter. I'm about to be rich! MUAHAHAHAHA!"
Meanwhile, back in the Marvel Universe, Tony held the briefcase tightly and grinned. "It doesn't matter if I give up the arc reactor. With this, I'll be smarter! MUAHAHAHAHA!"
Both of them were sure they had gotten the better deal.
