Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Planning the Portal
Jason's mouth curled into a devious smile. "Didn't all you Hell Lords charge into Heaven so eagerly? Once you go in, don't bother coming back!"
"Hiss!"
Mephisto sucked in a sharp breath. He wanted to say, "You simply don't have that kind of power!" But he suddenly remembered the space barrier that had trapped him moments ago.
He frowned nervously. "Are you serious about this?"
Jason fixed him with a hard stare. "Tell me exactly what kind of protection your teleportation array has."
Mephisto hesitated briefly, then explained, "There are three layers of security in total."
"First, there's an elite legion of fallen angels - Lucifer's direct descendants. They're seriously powerful fighters. My soul army might be their equal in combat, but that's about it."
"Second is Lucifer's white feather incarnation. Back when he betrayed God, his white feathers faded away as his black ones were reborn. But what nobody realized was that he didn't just shed his feathers." Mephisto leaned in conspiratorially. "He also removed the kindness from his soul and his angelic duties. He merged these things with his white feathers and created a mindless incarnation of pure celestial power. Only a handful of beings know this secret - and I happen to be one of them!"
Mephisto smiled smugly, but when he noticed Jason's completely unimpressed expression, his self-satisfaction evaporated instantly.
"As for the third protection," he continued more soberly, "it's also the most formidable. The portal location is surrounded by an incredibly powerful forbidden magic zone. Every type of power you can imagine gets neutralized inside it. Magic, fire, bullets, even raw physical strength - all of it just vanishes into nothing. This means absolutely nobody can destroy the portal itself!"
Mephisto paused dramatically. "Space magic and even time magic are completely useless there!"
Jason frowned. This magic actually sounded pretty damn powerful.
"It's practically impossible to break that forbidden magic in any short timeframe," Mephisto warned. "Plus, if the lords on the Heaven side notice something's wrong, they'll rush back immediately. So unless you're 100% sure about this, I'd never recommend taking such a massive risk!"
Jason just sneered. "It's just some fancy spell. How tough can it really be?"
He waved his hand, opening a portal to the Second God Domain. "Send the army in, and this time don't waste energy on those minor demons. I'm gonna cut off these lords' escape route and take over Hell in one move!"
All the troops marched into the God Domain. With a casual gesture, Jason created a space crack in front of himself. He stepped through it and vanished instantly.
He'd entered a sub-dimensional space. Traveling this way, he wouldn't be detected, and he could move way faster than in the normal world.
In just minutes, he crossed a massive distance and arrived at Lucifer's territory.
As expected of Hell's first lord, Lucifer's domain was much larger than Mephisto's, with a significantly bigger demon population.
The Hell-Heaven teleportation array sat at the bottom of a cliff near the royal city. All along the steep stone walls clung fallen angels, gecko-like creatures sleeping against the vertical surface. Any noise would instantly alert them.
Jason remained hidden in his sub-dimensional space, clearly seeing the massive portal at the cliff's base. He also sensed the forbidden space that Mephisto had described.
It resembled a huge sphere with the energy signature of a black hole.
Mephisto stood nearby, watching tensely. Jason turned to him. "These fallen angels are also inside the forbidden space. Why aren't they affected?"
Mephisto shook his head. "No idea. This dimensional trick is Lucifer's specialty. He must've done something special with those angels!"
Jason raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you worried Lucifer might betray you and use this space to kill you all?"
"We're not that stupid! We signed a non-betrayal contract, and he wants to conquer Heaven more than any of us. He wouldn't attack us before the plan succeeds."
Jason rolled his eyes. "If you signed a contract, why were you still plotting to take over those two neighboring territories?"
"Uh... the seven of us signed. We just didn't invite those two to join."
Jason was momentarily stunned, then shook his head in disgust.
Better not try joining a club that doesn't want you, or you might get screwed over at any time!
After sizing up the situation, Jason asked, "Where's that Lucifer white feather clone you mentioned?"
Mephisto pointed toward the nearby royal city. "Must be in his palace. From this distance, it could arrive to defend within moments!"
Jason nodded, stepped forward, and transported Mephisto and himself to Lucifer's royal city.
With a thought, he opened the portal to the Second God Domain. Instantly, three bizarre figures tumbled out.
One was skinny, one was tall, and one was short but powerfully built.
BOOM!
The three figures crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Mephisto stared in confusion. "What are those—"
Jason raised a hand to silence him. "Just watch my little Supermen in action..."
These three were from the monster army that Jason had ordered his scientists to develop in the Avengers' underground research facility. There were more than just these three, but these were supposedly the most powerful specimens.
The skinny one was the test subject Stern had mentioned being afraid to fully test. The other two—short-but-strong and extremely tall—were new versions developed from the skinny prototype.
From skinny to short-and-strong to tall, they were numbered One, Two, and Three—the standard version, upgraded version, and super-upgraded version.
Though they couldn't understand complex orders, they were perfect for creating chaos and diverting enemy attention.
The trio quickly recovered from their fall. They didn't care where they were—the overwhelming desire for destruction programmed into them demanded immediate action.
In an instant, Number One rocketed into the air, conjured a massive fireball from nothing, and hurled it toward the city below.
Number Two had no concept of direction—he just charged forward like a runaway train, smashing through everything in his path.
Number Three stood still as duplicates peeled off from his body, racing in all directions before detonating with thunderous "BOOMS!" Each explosion packed the punch of a bunker-buster bomb.
Even Mephisto couldn't hide his shock at the horrifying display. "Where... where did you get these monsters?"
Jason laughed. "Old Mo, I never had the chance to tell you this before, but here's some free advice: You can invade anywhere you want, but stay the hell away from Earth. Especially New York. Even without me in the picture, you'd never succeed there!"
Mephisto fell silent.
The destruction caused by the three monsters quickly drew attention. Some demons rushed forward to stop them but were too weak—they were torn to pieces before they could even get close.
Suddenly, a white figure appeared above the royal palace in the northern part of the city.
Mephisto narrowed his eyes. "Here it comes!"
This figure, supposedly Lucifer's incarnation, had a humanoid shape but not a human appearance. It lacked even basic facial features, covered entirely in pristine white feathers.
Wielding twin blades, it flew directly at Number One. Its wings flashed like knives as it struck with blinding speed.
THWACK!
Number One's head went flying through the air!
