Chapter 127: Chapter 127: The Great Lord of Hell, Jason
With Jason's superhuman speed, he reached Mephisto's second-largest city in no time.
The shocking news that the royal city had been wiped off the map hadn't reached here yet. But the tremors from the explosion had definitely been felt, reminding everyone of the disaster from a few months back. Panic was spreading like wildfire.
In this chaotic atmosphere, Jason slipped into the city without drawing attention.
Watching the freaked-out demons running around, Jason smirked and said, "Hey Old Mo, all these panicking creatures? They're YOUR people! You really gonna just watch 'em die? Some king you turned out to be! Ha! Even I'm starting to think you're too cold-blooded, and I'm the guy they call the Hell's Butcher!"
Jason deliberately took his time walking through the streets. These demons might be vicious creatures, but they were still smart enough to feel fear when staring death in the face.
Finding a quiet corner, he continued taunting Mephisto. "Remember this - these folks are gonna die because of YOU. Hope you enjoy dreaming about them every night!"
"That's ENOUGH, you bastard!" Mephisto roared. "YOU'RE the real devil here! I've been in Hell for thousands of years as a lord, but I've never killed as many with my own hands as you just did! You cruel, cold-blooded son of a bitch! This throne of the Lord of Hell? It's PERFECT for someone like you! You goddamn monster!"
Jason's lips curved into a satisfied smile. "Congratulations, you just saved millions of lives. If they knew, they'd be throwing you a parade! Now, be a good boy and tell me where your throne is."
In the God Domain, Mephisto spat out angrily: "Fine! I'll give you the position of Lord of Hell, but you gotta agree to one condition - let me go! I can't even threaten you anymore anyway!"
Jason shook his head. "Not happening. But I can make you my chief eunuch. You can work for me from now on."
Mephisto gritted his teeth. "I never want to see your face again. Just let me go!"
"No dice. Either rot in jail or be my servant. Pick one."
"You..."
Mephisto was completely at Jason's mercy - a fish on the chopping block with nowhere to escape. He had no choice but to give in.
Following Mephisto's reluctant directions, Jason discovered an ordinary-looking dining stool among the ruins of the palace. After reciting the spell Mephisto provided, the true throne materialized out of thin air.
With Mephisto now bound as his chief servant through a soul-binding contract, and after verifying he hadn't been deceived, Jason didn't hesitate to sit on the throne.
Instantly, a strange sensation flooded his body. His perception expanded dramatically - he could suddenly see everything happening across his entire territory with just a thought. Simultaneously, massive power surged through him - the collective energy of the realm itself.
As long as he remained in this territory, he'd possess incredible strength and true immortality! Even if someone managed to kill him outside this realm, he could be resurrected within his territory after a certain period!
All demons within his domain became his believers and power sources. Simply put, it was practically impossible to destroy a Hell Lord within their own territory!
As Jason felt this tremendous power flowing through him, every demon in the territory sensed the shift in rulership. Their lord had changed?
While confusion spread among the demonic population, a massive screen materialized in the sky above them, showing Jason sitting confidently on the throne.
"My people!" he announced. "From today forward, you belong to ME!"
As Jason spoke, he waved his hand dramatically, creating an enormous black portal above the territory, visible to nearly all his new subjects.
"Starting right now, you'll receive my highest reward!"
With another gesture, black energy beams scattered toward all cities and demon gathering spots. "This is my God Domain. There's no war or invasion there. Any of my people or believers can enter! Your new king brings you eternal peace and comfort!"
After his speech, Jason brought Mephisto, now his chief steward, to the underground treasure room.
The place was way bigger than he'd imagined. But the most eye-catching things weren't the rare and exotic treasures. Instead, they were neatly arranged groups of burning souls with matching armor and weapons positioned beside them.
Jason raised an eyebrow. "Old Mo, what the hell is all this?"
Mephisto stared at the display with melancholy, sighing dramatically. "These... are all my ambitions!"
Jason smacked him on the back of the head. "Talk normal, idiot!"
Mephisto rolled his eyes, cleared his throat, and asked, "You know how many lords invaded Heaven this time?"
Jason's interest perked up. "How many?"
"Nine. But in all of Hell, only seven Hell Lords were qualified to work with me. I invited two extras. Wanna know who they were?"
Mephisto shrugged. "Those two are my neighbors. Their territories border mine. They're small but densely populated, and in a prime location. Besides me, they got no powerful enemies nearby."
Jason caught on quick. "So they were your top targets to gobble up?"
Mephisto nodded weakly. "What you see here are premium souls I've hand-picked over thousands of years. After my special training program, they're insanely powerful. They can even devour souls directly. With the Hell Lords away, nobody could stop their invasion! I was planning to use the Heaven attack as cover..."
"But now... they're all mine?" Jason's mouth stretched into a predatory grin.
"Your Majesty is truly wise~" Mephisto praised weakly.
"Perfect! Wake 'em up immediately! Together with my thousand demon generals, continue your mission! Send all the loot and captured souls to my God Domain!"
"Yes, sir!" Mephisto hurried off on his assigned mission.
Meanwhile, Jason settled into the only remaining hall and pulled up his system interface.
After opening a series of gift packs, he gained massive attribute points along with various skills and abilities. While most of these abilities seemed minor individually, together they created a comprehensive arsenal.
The most valuable prizes were the mountain of attribute points and the special gift pack earned from killing a million beings at once.
After considering his options, he bumped his Strength attribute to 21 and his Speed to 16. All his other attributes now exceeded 10.
His physical power now far surpassed even the Asgardian gods. He could lift thousands of tons with ease. One punch from him would flatten even the standard version of the Hulk.
And physical strength was just a tiny fraction of his power. His real destructive capability came from thunder, solar energy, and his domain abilities.
Taking a deep breath, Jason finally opened the ultimate reward - the Million-Man Killer achievement package!
[Congratulations on receiving the reward: Divinity: Magic, Customization Available]!
