Marvel : The God Of Punishment System

Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Captain Dirtyfighter: Steve Wins!

New York buzzed with chaotic energy while the White House matched its intensity. President Freeman maintained his poker face, the very picture of gravitas, though inside he was quietly celebrating.

Minutes after the Chitauri breached Earth's atmosphere, he called an emergency press conference.

"The United States of America never surrenders. United, we stand unbreakable!" His voice resonated with practiced authority. "Let every alien threat face their judgment. America will emerge victorious!"

As if on cue, footage of missiles and military reinforcements appeared on-screen just as he concluded. The press room erupted with questions.

"Mr. President, why are there over a dozen warships positioned off New York's coast? Where did these ground forces deploy from?"

Freeman's smile radiated presidential confidence. "Since New York has faced multiple catastrophes, I've maintained constant vigilance over our greatest city. These preparations have been in place for months—though I prayed we'd never need them. Unfortunately, reality cares nothing for our wishes. When disaster struck again, at least we were ready."

Murmurs of amazement rippled through the crowd. Applause began tentatively, then swelled until the room thundered with approval. To outside observers, it sounded like America had already won the war.

...

Streaking toward New York at Mach 3, Stark monitored the ground battle while listening to Freeman's speech. His lip curled in disdain.

"JARVIS, dig into the Pentagon's systems—carefully now."

Within moments, the AI confirmed his suspicions. "Sir, these mobilization orders were issued less than an hour ago."

Stark's hands tightened on his armored controls. "So our president knew this was coming?" His thoughts immediately turned to one person. "Jason, you magnificent bastard! You warned him!"

He seethed silently. "Just wait until I finish upgrading my Anti-Jason armor. We'll see who's laughing then!"

...

Jason stared at Professor X with genuine disbelief. "Professor, you're supposed to be the mutants' ace in the hole! What's happening here?"

His mental prowess had crumbled faster than a house of cards.

But examining their opponents more closely, understanding dawned. Corvus Glaive's soul resided within his blade—his consciousness existed in some liminal state between weapon and being. Mind control would naturally prove difficult.

As for Ebony May... his gaze fell on the item he carried.

"The Mind Scepter! No wonder you can't control him—you're lucky he isn't controlling you!"

With a sigh, Jason turned to Xavier. "Find somewhere safe with Wolverine and the others."

Xavier bristled at the dismissal, jaw tightening. The indignity of being mentally outmaneuvered—rendered ineffective—wasn't something he accepted lightly. Without a word, he turned and rolled his chair with silent determination toward the othe, already recalculating his role on the battlefield.

Jason, meanwhile, stepped forward, Mjolnir humming with building energy. Sparks licked across the weapon's surface, hungry for release.

The system had already given its verdict: both opponents were ranked [King] tier—power levels that exceeded even Mephisto's manifestation. The difference was critical. Unlike the demon lord, these two weren't weakened by interdimensional resistance. They were at full strength—and fully focused on conquest.

Jason narrowed his eyes, thunder rolling in his wake.

"Alright, then. Let's see what royalty bleeds like."

Yet Jason hesitated to unleash his full arsenal. Domain: Corpse Mountains, Blood Seas, Divine Essance Sun, Absolute Zero Dimension—these were trump cards for when Thanos himself descended. Against mere Black Order? Mjolnir would suffice.

Besides, the military needed their moment in the spotlight. Hundreds of millions in missiles created quite the spectacle, especially when one "accidentally" demolished a chunk of Stark Tower. The cameras loved it.

Jason had already coordinated with Freeman—let the military play hero first, then the Avengers would mop up.

"Hey, alien scum! Taste this!"

Mjolnir sang through the air. Lightning bolts thick as tree trunks descended from the cloudless sky.

Neither Obsidian General expected such raw aggression. They scattered as electricity painted the air around them. When Jason summoned an entire web of lightning, evasion became impossible.

The Mind Scepter and Glaive could slice through lightning itself—but not quickly enough. Half the barrage struck home, sending both alien crashing to earth in smoking heaps.

Their alien physiology saved them from serious injury, but their pride took a critical hit.

"Primitive planet… backward natives…" Corvus Glaive snarled, dust clinging to the sharp angles of his armor. His voice dripped with contempt as his grip tightened on the glaive.

"You dare?"

His eyes blazed suddenly, the cold sneer twisting into a snarl of fury.

"YOU DARE?" he roared, his voice splitting the air like thunder, battle-lust igniting like a spark to dry oil.

The glaive erupted with crackling cosmic energy as Glaive surged into the sky, a dark blur of motion. The atmosphere itself seemed to flinch—warping and hissing around the blade's edge as it sliced the air with such force, the pressure wave cut a jagged line toward Jason from over thirty feet away.

The ground split cleanly where Jason stood moments before. Wolverine and the others, now at a safe distance, collectively gasped.

Jason braced himself, Mjolnir ready for impact, when—

A red, white, and blue disc sang through the air, catching Glaive square in the face mid-descent.

"THWAP!"

Blood sprayed as the shield struck true, then ricocheted back impossibly to its thrower's waiting hand.

"You picked the wrong planet"

Jason whirled around. There he stood—Captain fricking America himself, all star-spangled swagger and impossible physics.

Steve wiped the blood from his shield with practiced ease, like it was just another Tuesday. Catching Jason's surprised look, his eyes drifted—naturally—to the gleaming hammer in Jason's grip.

"Nice hardware," he said, a touch of amusement in his voice.

Jason instinctively pulled Mjolnir behind his back. "Whoa there! What's with that look, star-spangled? You thinking of filing a claim?"

Steve's boyish grin carried just enough steel to make it dangerous. He glanced toward the advancing enemies, rolling his shoulders.

"Just asking if you're ready to dance."

Jason studied Steve, then glanced back at the other shambling forward. "Where exactly are you getting this confidence? No offense, but your teammates look about as useful as screen doors on a submarine."

"I know I can't beat either of them alone," Steve admitted freely. "But I can hold one off long enough for you to finish the other. Then you back me up."

"You sure about this? Because I'm not doing eulogies if you bite it out here."

Steve's laugh carried battlefield experience. "I can do this all day."

Jason shrugged. "Your funeral."

Corvus Glaive touched his bleeding face, tasted his own blood, and his expression turned arctic. "Ambush... dishonor... primitive tactics..."

"You started this dance party, Captain," Jason said, redirecting his attention to Proxima. "You clean up your mess!"

Lightning crackled as he engaged Ebony Maw.

Maw proved a worthy opponent, but the Mind Scepter was never meant for direct combat. Though he commanded formidable telekinetic powers, hurling debris and energy at Jason, his thunder-based offense overwhelmed his defenses.

With the sun high overhead, Jason's power surged to peak efficiency. For the first time, he fought without restraint—no careful stamina management, no strategic saving of abilities. Pure, unlimited firepower.

The Mind Scepter finally slipped from Maw's grasp. Jason's lightning blast sent it spinning toward him. As his fingers closed around the staff, relief washed over him.

One Infinity Stone secured. Thanos would have one fewer path to universal genocide.

[System Alert: Evolution Quest Initiated - 1/6]

Jason blinked. "Evolution quest? Six stones to tier up the system?"

The timing was perfect. Even without the quest, he'd been planning to collect them all. The prospect of wielding Creator God powers with a single snap... though if that proved impossible, purging every criminal in the universe remained a solid backup plan.

Across the battlefield, his curiosity drew him to Steve's fight. Captain America had been tossed around like a ragdoll multiple times, shield knocked away, when something changed.

Steve produced a vibranium combat knife from nowhere and stabbed Glaive's foot while down. As the alien general howled in pain, Cap performed an absolutely brutal headbutt to a very sensitive area.

Glaive's eyes bulged cartoonishly. Steve pressed his advantage, fingers rigid as blades, driving them into the alien's eye sockets with vicious precision.

"Damn, Cap!" Jason whistled. "And here I thought you were all apple pie and moral fiber!"
