Marvel : Strongest Siblings

Chapter 129: Marvel 129

Matt took a seat, crossing his legs before speaking into the mic.

"The world is changing," he stated, his voice steady. "The gates, the monsters, the power systems we thought we understood… it was all just the surface of something much deeper. What I fought inside that gate was not just a monster, nor was it an ordinary boss. It was a Monarch—one of the true rulers of destruction. And I defeated him."

The room erupted in murmurs, disbelief, and shock flashing across the faces of many. Some Hunters looked pale, while others clenched their fists.

One official from the United States leaned forward. "Are you saying these Monarchs are behind everything? The gates, the monsters, the sudden changes in the world?"

Matt nodded. "Yes. But they're not the only ones. There are also Rulers—the opposite of the Monarchs. Where Monarchs represent destruction, the Rulers represent protection. And now, their war has reached Earth."

The murmurs turned into a full-blown uproar. The idea of an interdimensional war between godlike beings playing out on Earth was terrifying.

One Hunter scoffed. "And what proof do you have? How do we know you're not just making up stories to justify your power?"

Matt didn't respond with words. Instead, he raised his hand, and dark mist swirled around it before transforming into a massive pressure that made even the strongest Hunters in the room break out in a cold sweat.

"I do not need 'words' to justify my power," Matt said as his eyes gleamed dangerously. "You wanted information, and I gave it. Now, I am done."

He stood up, ready to leave, but an old man raised his hand. "Wait! We have a few more questions."

Matt sighed and sat back down. "Okay then, ask away."

The old man nodded. "There has been talk about Monarch vessels and Ruler vessels. What exactly does this mean?"

Matt leaned back in his chair. "Hm, you see, these beings—whether Monarchs or Rulers—are powerful beyond imagination. Monarchs don't care about humanity. They could descend upon this world at any moment, and their mere presence would be enough to destroy everything. But the Rulers, representing protection, cannot allow that. Since they cannot interfere directly, they select powerful Hunters and lend them their strength to defend Earth."

He let the information sink in before continuing. "You all remember the recent death of Christopher, right? He was a Ruler's vessel. That's why he was targeted. The Monarchs have already infiltrated Earth."

A solemn silence filled the room.

A serious-looking man finally spoke up. "So… you're saying other Ruler vessels are also in danger?"

Matt nodded. "Yes."

The leaders exchanged uneasy glances, the weight of the situation pressing down on them.

"How can you be sure it was a Monarch who killed Christopher? It could have also been you," a Hunter accused, narrowing his eyes.

Matt smirked and looked directly at him. "If I had done it, then what could you do about it?"

The Hunter flinched, his initial bravado fading into fear under Matt's piercing gaze. Seeing his reaction, Matt scoffed. All words, no action.

The conference continued with more questions being thrown at Matt. Finally, Thomas stood up, silencing the others with a firm voice.

"One last question," he said, drawing everyone's attention. Matt turned to him, waiting.

"What are you?" Thomas asked.

Matt chuckled. "Hm… I suppose you could call me an ever-evolving Hunter. I started as an S-rank, made my way to EX-rank by absorbing the power of the monsters I defeated. Now, I stand at the Monarch rank."

A murmur spread through the room. Thomas processed Matt's words before asking, "So it's true? You can absorb the essence of those you defeat?"

"Yes, I can," Matt confirmed.

Thomas sat back, his expression unreadable. "That was the last question," he muttered.

Matt nodded but then turned to him. "You can awaken again—to EX-rank, at the very least—if you consume an S-rank golem core."

Thomas's eyes widened. He knew about Matt's ability to perceive the hidden potential within others. The Hunter Association had kept a tight lid on that information, yet Matt had casually revealed it in front of everyone.

"Hunter Matt, what do you mean by that?" a reporter asked, pressing for more details.

Matt leaned back lazily. "I've grown powerful enough to sense people's potential. Thomas is close to advancing, but he needs a catalyst. Since he's a tank, I suggested a golem core." He shrugged.

The room fell into contemplation. Another Hunter hesitantly asked, "Can any of us advance as well?"

Matt glanced at him before shaking his head. "I don't know. Thomas is special—his body is already overflowing with mana. He just needs a push. The rest of you… not so much."

A wave of disappointment washed over the other Hunters as they sat back in silence.

Soon, the session ended, and Matt left without a second glance. The other attendees also began dispersing, some whispering among themselves as they departed. However, three Monarchs who had attended the conference remained behind.

"He's more dangerous than we thought," the Monarch of Beasts muttered grimly.

Frost and Plague nodded in agreement.

"We have to kill him now before he grows even stronger," the Frost Monarch added, his icy gaze filled with intent.

The others agreed without hesitation. Without wasting another second, they vanished into the shadows, silently trailing Matt, who was walking leisurely down the street.

"He seems unaware of us," the Frost Monarch observed. "He has yet to realize we are tracking him."

Plague and Beast nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Matt, who was walking ahead, smirked to himself. Idiots. They just did me a favor by presenting themselves to me so openly.

He continued toward his car, seemingly unbothered. Sliding into the driver's seat, he started the engine and drove off. However, instead of heading home, he took a detour—one that led to an abandoned location, isolated and perfect for what he had in mind.

Let's see how long they last, he thought, his smirk widening.
