Chapter 242: Mister Sinister Makes His Move—Alex’s Trap
"You've really pissed me off now!"
The Juggernaut, blocked yet again by Alex, let out a roar like a wild beast. His voice was a guttural growl as he glared at Alex with murderous intent, the ground trembling faintly beneath his feet from the sheer weight of his fury.
Then—
WHOOSH!
In the blink of an eye, his massive frame accelerated like a freight train, charging at Alex with unstoppable force. Dust and debris kicked up in his wake, swirling around like a miniature storm.
This was the Juggernaut's Unstoppable Charge—one of his most devastating abilities. Once he locked onto a target and began his charge, nothing could stand in his way.
And this wasn't just a simple tackle. It was like a battering ram imbued with the power of an avalanche, a wall of destruction on legs.
WHOOOM!
Alex immediately felt the air pressure slam into him, making it hard to even breathe. The very atmosphere vibrated with tension as the Juggernaut closed in.
The Juggernaut wasn't holding back anymore. His eyes gleamed with raw rage, each step a quake, each breath a promise of annihilation.
Under normal circumstances, Alex would have simply dodged. There was no point in trading blows with someone like the Juggernaut—especially when Alex had the advantage of flight.
The Juggernaut couldn't fly. Against airborne opponents, he was limited to leaping like the Hulk or Saitama, drastically reducing his effectiveness. His brute strength didn't translate well into aerial combat.
But this time, Alex didn't move.
Because if he did, the students hiding in the building behind him would be obliterated.
Since Alex knew he could take the hit, he decided to meet the Juggernaut head-on. He gritted his teeth, fists clenched, and eyes narrowed.
BOOM!
Alex shot forward at supersonic speed, colliding with the Juggernaut like a meteor, generating a shockwave that shattered windows for blocks.
KRAKOOM!
The shockwave from their impact sent tremors through the earth, toppling lampposts and setting off car alarms.
Alex was sent flying backward, crashing through a wall like a cannonball, dust and brick fragments exploding around him.
The Juggernaut, meanwhile, was knocked back as well, plowing through five or six walls before skidding to a stop, sending concrete and steel flying.
Once again, the Juggernaut had been overpowered—but it didn't matter.
He was still unharmed.
"Alex, Cerebro is down!"
Charles' voice reached Alex's superhuman hearing, making him frown. The timing couldn't be worse.
Without Cerebro, dealing with the Juggernaut would be far more difficult. Tracking mutant signals, coordinating strategy—it was all thrown into chaos.
And since Emma Frost hadn't used their Cerebro to assist him yet, Alex had a sinking suspicion—
Their Cerebro had been sabotaged too.
Because if Emma had seen the Juggernaut's rampage, she wouldn't have stayed idle. Not a chance.
"Mister Sinister… you've planned this well."
Alex's eyes narrowed as he glanced toward the café where Sinister sat, sipping his coffee, calm amidst the destruction.
The immortal mutant smirked back, looking utterly self-assured, as if the chaos unfolding around him was nothing more than a game board.
"Exodus, he's even stronger than we anticipated."
"The plan is working perfectly."
Sinister's mood was excellent—so much so that he couldn't help but smile.
CLINK.
He set down his coffee cup and stood, his long coat fluttering slightly with the movement.
"Enough spectating. It's time to act."
Alex's superhuman hearing caught every word. His guard shot up like a steel wall.
Was Sinister about to team up with the Juggernaut?
If so, Alex was seriously outmatched. A chilling thought.
BOOM!
Before he could dwell on it, the Juggernaut came at him again—launching himself like a missile, a crimson blur of brute force.
Alex had no choice but to focus on the immediate threat.
WHAM!
He punched the Juggernaut with enough force to send him flying—
But at the exact same moment—
KABOOM!
Several "bombs" detonated around Alex, their timing so precise that he had no chance to dodge.
Yet instead of a normal explosion, they released a strange pulse of electromagnetic energy. The air shimmered with blue-white static, crackling like a thundercloud.
Not a physical blast—but a wave of disruptive energy.
"What the hell is this?"
Alex's instincts screamed at him. This wasn't random—this was precision sabotage.
Whatever these bombs were, they were designed specifically for him. His vision wavered slightly, his muscles tingled as if hit by a static charge.
"Success!"
Sure enough, Sinister's triumphant voice rang out as the energy waves engulfed Alex completely.
Alex's suspicions were confirmed—these were power-suppressing bombs, tailor-made to neutralize mutant abilities.
SHWOOM!
In that instant, Alex felt his mutant powers vanish. It was like a part of him had gone numb.
"Damn. Sinister really thought of everything."
Alex had to give the man credit—this was a brilliant trap. Cold, calculated, and precise.
But there was one critical flaw.
Alex wasn't just a mutant.
While his X-gene abilities had been suppressed, his Kryptonian physiology remained untouched.
His strength, speed, durability—none of it was affected. He still had the power of a god beneath his skin.
But Alex wasn't about to let Sinister know that.
A sly smirk flickered across his face, quickly replaced by feigned panic.
If Sinister wanted to play games, Alex would give him a show.
"My powers…!"
Alex let his voice shake with feigned panic, shouting toward Sinister's direction, his body trembling ever so slightly.
"What did you do to me?!"
Sinister's grin widened. He bought it.
BOOM!
The Juggernaut, unaffected by the bombs (since his power came from the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, not the X-gene), charged again.
Alex "struggled" to react—his movements sluggish, his face a mask of terror. He stumbled back, arms raised weakly.
He "tried" to block, but without his powers, he was "helpless."
Just as the Juggernaut was about to crush him—
WHOOSH!
A figure descended from the sky, landing between Alex and the Juggernaut with a thunderous impact.
CRACK!
A single punch sent out a shockwave so powerful it shattered the ground beneath them, scattering debris in every direction.
The Juggernaut was hurled backward, crashing through debris like a ragdoll, leaving a deep trench in the earth.
And standing there, radiating arrogance, was Mister Sinister himself.
"Did you really think it would be that easy?"
He smirked down at Alex, who was still pretending to be powerless. His voice dripped with amusement.
"Now… let's talk."
