Chapter 241: Alex Takes Action, Crushing the Juggernaut
"Alex, be careful!"
Charles spoke gravely, his expression tense as he expanded his telepathic senses to scan the entire Xavier Institute. His face darkened almost immediately—his psychic abilities had been blocked.
It was as if an invisible barrier had locked his mind in a box, rendering his telepathy useless. The sensation was disorienting, like suddenly going blind after relying on sight for years.
"Mister Sinister!"
Charles immediately came to the conclusion.
As far as he knew, only Sinister was capable of something like this. A deliberate and sophisticated psychic lockdown—textbook Sinister.
And if Sinister had gone to the trouble of blocking Charles' telepathy, it could only mean one thing:
He had prepared a "gift" for Alex.
Something hidden within the Xavier Mansion—something besides Cain.
Charles couldn't help but feel a surge of worry for Alex. The young man had faced overwhelming odds before, but this... this felt like something more calculated.
While Charles was attempting his psychic scan, Alex wasn't idle either. Using his superhuman hearing and X-ray vision, he swept the entire Xavier estate and the surrounding area. The world to him was transparent, layered, alive with heat signatures and electric pulses.
And sure enough—
He found Sinister.
The immortal mutant was sitting in a café on a nearby commercial street, leisurely sipping coffee. The scene was jarringly mundane, like a devil taking a break from torment to enjoy a latte.
Beside him stood Exodus, the Omega-level mutant Alex had humiliated before.
Despite the distance of several kilometers and multiple walls separating them, their gazes locked. There was a chill in the air—silent tension spanning across the void.
Sinister raised his cup slightly in mock salute before taking another unhurried sip. His expression was unreadable, almost amused.
He looked like nothing more than a spectator enjoying the show.
Alex didn't bother responding. He simply smirked coldly before shifting his focus back to the immediate threat. His attention snapped like a hawk spotting prey.
Right now, he had bigger problems to deal with.
Because the Juggernaut was no joke.
This was a being who could go toe-to-toe with the Hulk—even if he usually lost in the end.
Whether Alex liked it or not, he had to deal with Cain first. Otherwise, Charles was as good as dead.
BOOM!
As these thoughts flashed through Alex's mind, the Juggernaut erupted from the rubble, dusting himself off as if completely unfazed. Debris scattered like confetti around him, the ground cracking underfoot with every movement.
Alex's punch had been visually devastating, but it hadn't actually hurt him.
For one, the Juggernaut had his energy field, his armor, and his already monstrous physiology.
And second—
He had a healing factor.
Not as strong as Wolverine's, but close. Cells knit themselves back together beneath his skin, restoring damage before it could even set in.
That was what made him so damn hard to put down.
"Not bad, Charles. You've got some interesting friends."
The Juggernaut stomped forward, eyeing Alex with a mix of amusement and disdain. Every step he took left a mini crater, each footfall shaking the lawn like distant thunder.
"You might actually be fun. Don't disappoint me."
WHOOM!
Before the words had even fully left his mouth, the Juggernaut kicked off the ground—leaving a crater behind. The grass and dirt erupted as if a bomb had gone off.
SHOOM!
He launched himself hundreds of meters into the air like a living meteor, hurtling straight toward Alex.
BAM!
Alex shot forward at supersonic speed, meeting the Juggernaut mid-air.
Their collision was like two mountains smashing together. Air shockwaves rippled outward, blowing back trees and shattering windows in nearby buildings.
The shockwave alone sent tremors through the earth.
Then—
CRASH!
The Juggernaut was sent rocketing back down, slamming into the ground with enough force to carve out a multi-meter-deep crater. The impact roared like a falling asteroid.
Cracks spiderwebbed outward, shaking the entire area.
Meanwhile, Alex was knocked back a dozen meters before stabilizing himself mid-air. He exhaled slowly, eyes narrowing.
"Damn. You really live up to the hype."
Alex hovered above the crater, watching as the Juggernaut stirred below. His expression was grim.
That clash had given him a clear measure of Cain's strength.
The Juggernaut's raw power was close to a thousand tons—still below Alex's 1,400-ton limit, but not by enough to guarantee an easy win.
And while Alex had the edge in strength, the Juggernaut's defense and regeneration more than made up for it.
Worse—
Unlike Alex, the Juggernaut didn't need to eat, drink, or rest.
He was a perpetual motion machine.
He could fight forever.
Which meant this battle was going to be a war of attrition.
Alex could overpower him, but actually killing him?
Nearly impossible.
The only surefire way to stop the Juggernaut was Charles' telepathy.
But thanks to Sinister's interference, that wasn't an option.
Unless…
Charles' powers could be amplified.
"Charles!"
Alex glanced meaningfully toward the Cerebro chamber. The idea struck like lightning—fast, desperate, and maybe the only shot they had.
Charles understood instantly. Nodding, he turned and sprinted toward the underground facility. His old legs moved with surprising agility, driven by urgency and adrenaline.
He knew it was a long shot—Sinister wouldn't have left such an obvious weakness unaccounted for.
But they had to try.
"CHARLES! WHERE THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!"
The Juggernaut erupted from the crater, bellowing in rage as he saw Charles fleeing. The ground shook beneath him, his voice thunderous with fury.
WHOOSH!
He lunged forward like a living missile—
But Alex was faster.
With a flick of his wrist, an invisible telekinetic force slammed into the Juggernaut like a mountain, stopping him dead in his tracks. The ground tore beneath the Juggernaut's feet as the force held him in place.
Satisfied, Charles vanished into the mansion, racing toward Cerebro. His mind focused, pushing aside fear.
"Trying to boost his telepathy?"
Sinister chuckled from his café seat, swirling his coffee lazily.
"How naïve."
Did they really think he hadn't accounted for that?
He had studied Charles for decades.
And before setting this trap, he had made sure to disable Cerebro completely.
