Chapter 81: Chapter 081: You're Still Alive?
Since the last time the Shadow King forcefully took over David's body and attacked Raymond, the other personalities inside David finally couldn't stay quiet anymore. They decided it was time to teach the Shadow King a lesson.
They were never really friendly toward David, the main personality. After all, every personality wanted to become the only owner of the body. None of them liked David much, and they didn't even get along with each other.
But they all had one clear bottom line—even if they couldn't take over David's body themselves, they wouldn't let the Shadow King replace him.
David might have many flaws and be too soft, which made them look down on him. But having a weak main personality was still better than a strong one like the Shadow King. If the Shadow King took over, the rest of them would be completely controlled by him.
That's why they couldn't just let the Shadow King do whatever he wanted.
Until now, they hadn't fought back, because they didn't think it was the right time. The Shadow King was no pushover, and fighting him might cause damage to themselves too. Unless it was absolutely necessary, they didn't want to risk their lives for David.
But last time, the Shadow King had crossed the line. He didn't just take control of David's body—he also changed a small part of David's memory. That was more than they could accept.
So, under the lead of Wayne the Adventurer and a few other strong personalities, they all teamed up and fought back against the Shadow King.
At the same time, they helped restore the part of David's memory that was affected.
That's when David finally realized what had happened—and learned of the Shadow King's existence for the first time.
Of course, he didn't know where the Shadow King came from. Even the other personalities didn't know. They just thought he was a much stronger personality than the rest.
Once David knew the truth, he started to really dislike the Shadow King.
But the Shadow King was clever. Once he saw the situation turning against him, he quickly backed down and used his sweet-talking skills to flatter David like crazy—almost begging for mercy.
David had a soft heart. Seeing the Shadow King acting so humble, he calmed down.
In the end, they made a deal: the Shadow King was not allowed to change David's memory or take over his body again without permission. If he did, they would go to war for real.
Even though David didn't seem powerful, he was still the main personality. If he worked with the other personalities to fight the Shadow King, the Shadow King didn't stand a chance.
So, for now, the Shadow King had no choice but to agree.
But none of them expected David to suddenly lose control after hearing that something bad might have happened to Raymond!
David immediately thought the Shadow King was behind it again.
What he didn't know was that the Shadow King was also panicking—because this time, he really had nothing to do with it. He might not know what others did, but he definitely knew what he didn't do.
That guy named Raymond suddenly disappeared—what did that have to do with him?
Just because he attacked Raymond once before, does that mean he has to take the blame for everything now?
He had already been forced to back down last time when David and the other personalities teamed up against him. He had been annoyed ever since, but at least that time, he was in the wrong, so he let it go.
But this time it wasn't even his fault. Did they really expect him to take the blame again?
No way!
So he showed up immediately and denied everything.
But David clearly wasn't buying it. He shouted angrily, "I don't care what you say! If I don't see Raymond safe and standing in front of me, I'm not letting this go!"
David's unreasonable attitude finally pushed the Shadow King past his limit.
He could accept pretending to be weak as a strategy—playing nice for now so he could one day take full control of David's body. He had no problem swallowing his pride for that goal.
After all, he had long moved past caring about silly things like dignity.
But David clearly wasn't just trying to make him bow his head—he wanted the Shadow King to actually bring Raymond back! And how could he do that? He had no idea where Raymond even was!
David's pressure, completely ignoring reason, finally made him snap.
"You little brat… Don't push me!" all the Shadow Kings in the courtyard growled at once, their eyes glowing with a dirty yellow light.
"No—you don't push me! I told you, if I don't see Raymond, this isn't over!" David yelled back.
"You—!"
The Shadow Kings' faces filled with killing intent as they glared at David.
Just as the tension reached a breaking point and a fight was about to break out, a sudden voice interrupted them:
"Oh? So lively. Did I come at a bad time?"
A flash of red mist appeared—and a man in a bright red suit, tail swaying behind him like a devil from a storybook, suddenly appeared beside Dr. Beth!
"God!!!" Dr. Beth finally couldn't hold back and screamed.
"God? Most people call me Devil. You're the first to call me God… If you don't mind, how about dinner later?" the devilish man said with a playful smile.
"I-I refuse!" Dr. Beth said, forcing herself to stay calm despite her fear.
"Don't be scared. I'm a gentleman. Even if I'm heartbroken by your rejection, I won't do anything bad. A beautiful lady should always be treated kindly…"
"Red Devil—it's you!"
Just as this devilish man continued flirting with Dr. Beth like no one else was there, all the Shadow Kings in the courtyard shouted in unison and cut him off!
"Oh? You know who I am?"
The devilish man turned to look at the Shadow Kings, clearly surprised.
Red Devil—that was his name!
Or rather, one of his most commonly used code names. As for his real name… he couldn't even remember it anymore. He had lived for so long that he had forgotten a lot of things—and names were never that important anyway.
Compared to a name he couldn't even recall, he preferred being called the Red Devil.
The fact that these Shadow Kings could say his codename meant they must know him.
But he honestly couldn't remember who they were.
"You damn bastard, still as arrogant as ever!" the Shadow Kings growled through gritted teeth.
"You're… Farouk?" Red Devil thought for a moment, then looked even more surprised. "You're still alive?"
