Chapter 71: Chapter 071: Carrying a Group of Old Masters with Me
"Is what you told me before about that patient friend of yours true?" Juggernaut asked after the two of them walked aside.
"Of course it's true. There's no point in lying to you about something like that, right?" Raymond shrugged.
"But I've never heard that he had a kid…" Juggernaut frowned slightly.
"That's because even he doesn't know he has a son." Raymond smiled and gestured toward Lorna. "Just like Magneto didn't know he had a daughter."
Juggernaut glanced at Lorna, his expression thoughtful.
"Where is the boy now? Still in the hospital?" he asked again.
"I'm not sure either… Wait, don't tell me you plan to use him to threaten Professor X?"
Juggernaut denied it. "There will be an end between me and him one day, but I'm not so low as to threaten someone using their child… What I want is to personally destroy everything he's built, to make him kneel and beg me for forgiveness!"
As he spoke, a flash of red light flickered in his eyes.
Raymond shook his head. "I don't know what kind of grudge you have that makes it so hard for you to let go, but my advice is to leave David out of it."
"Oh?" Juggernaut noticed the hidden meaning in Raymond's words.
"David has terrifying potential." Raymond left it at that.
"Terrifying?" Juggernaut was surprised by the choice of words.
At first, he thought Raymond was exaggerating.
But then he remembered—Raymond himself is a level four mutant. For someone like him to describe David's potential as terrifying… just how powerful could it be?
Raymond could tell Juggernaut still wanted to ask more, so he cut him off, "Don't ask me anything else. I don't know. All I can tell you is—don't mess with him."
"I understand." Juggernaut nodded slightly.
But Raymond could tell from his expression that he probably didn't take it seriously.
"He's lying…"
Suddenly, a hoarse voice rang in Raymond's mind.
It was a familiar voice—one of his newly activated Bronze-level sub-personalities, the persona of John Constantine.
After the system update added Development Points, several new functions were unlocked.
One of them was that Raymond could now talk with his sub-personalities in his mind without switching between them. He could also share his senses with them if he wanted.
Of course, he could stop the sharing at any time.
The system didn't give this function a name, but Raymond called it his "Carrying a Group of Old Masters" feature.
When the sub-personalities discovered this perk, they immediately asked Raymond to keep the sensory sharing on more often.
Even the most difficult one—Akainu's sub-personality—agreed. He promised to follow Raymond's orders as long as they didn't go against his core values, and he wouldn't mess things up at key moments.
Raymond didn't think their request was unreasonable. He agreed, with the condition that he'd only share senses when it didn't involve privacy or anything inappropriate.
You can't expect the horse to keep running if you don't feed it, right?
Even though Raymond had full control over switching personalities, he couldn't guarantee that his sub-personalities wouldn't slack off or act out. After all, besides the right to switch, he didn't have any real way to punish them.
Giving them a small benefit at a time like this was definitely more effective.
That's why, during his talk with Juggernaut, all his sub-personalities had been "watching the show" the whole time.
"You noticed it too?" Raymond asked in his mind.
"It was so obvious, it'd be hard not to notice," Kuro's voice said lazily in his head. "If I'm not wrong, he might not plan to use David as a hostage, but he's probably thinking about using him against his father."
"Turning a son against his father? Spicy!" Livebearer cackled weirdly.
"Why use family feelings? Boring," Deadshot's voice sighed.
"What are you all talking about?" the Exorcist personality asked, completely confused.
As a straightforward brute, he didn't get anything useful from the conversation. He was just watching Raymond and Juggernaut chat like it was entertainment.
"Hmph! A guy who only knows how to play sneaky tricks like that won't ever achieve anything big," Akainu scoffed, full of disdain.
The moment Akainu spoke, the others all went quiet.
Even though they were all sub-personalities, they understood that there was a ranking between them. Akainu was a Silver-tier, one level above them.
Respecting strength was a rule that applied across all worlds.
So none of them argued back.
The only one not bound by these "rules" was John Constantine, the Bronze-tier personality who was usually too lazy to bother getting involved at times like this.
In the end, it was Tao Pai Pai who spoke up with a mocking tone, "Achieve big things? Life is about doing what feels good! You musclehead don't get it!"
"Are you looking to die, you sissy?" Akainu growled.
"Who are you calling sissy?!" Tao Pai Pai shouted back, furious.
"A real man wouldn't wear a braid. What else could you be if not a sissy?" Akainu sneered.
Since the sub-personalities could see each other's original forms in Raymond's mind, Akainu knew what Tao Pai Pai looked like.
"That's where I draw the line, brother…" the Exorcist chimed in, speaking in a strong Chinese accent. He had a braid too, and Akainu's comment had just hit him as well.
"Shut up!"
But before he could finish, both Akainu and Tao Pai Pai yelled at him in unison.
"…"
"Alright, enough! All of you, take a break!" Raymond had a headache from all the bickering and immediately muted them, cutting off both sense-sharing and communication.
Once he did, the world went quiet again.
At that moment, Raymond's grandfather's family and his uncle's family had just arrived.
His mother, Roland, called to him from the kitchen window and signaled for him to come to the living room. She probably wanted him to help welcome their guests.
Raymond had no choice but to excuse himself from Juggernaut and head to the living room alone.
