Chapter 495: Chapter 495

Thanos hadn't expected Odin to act so boldly—nor had he anticipated that Odin's battle helm could actually block the Mind Stone's beam.

In the very next moment, Odin swung Gungnir upward, smashing into Thanos' chin and snapping his head skyward!

Staggering back, Thanos immediately lashed out with a kick to Odin's abdomen, unleashing the Power Stone's might and sending Odin flying.

Then, without warning, flames engulfed Thanos from head to toe, rapidly swelling until his entire body became a blazing inferno.

High above, the Ancient One manipulated a massive magical array, intensifying the flames—her goal: burn Thanos to death.

"AAARRRGHHH!!"

With a roar of pain, Thanos clenched his right fist and unleashed a burst of Power Stone energy, dispersing the fire entirely.

This time, he turned to the Soul Stone.

The Ancient One trembled as her soul was suddenly pulled from her body, drifting helplessly toward Thanos.

Her expression shifted.

If her soul was pulled into the Soul Stone… she might never escape.

Despite being drawn in, she quickly formed a complex series of hand seals, pointing toward the Time Stone around her neck.

The Time Stone glowed brilliantly, projecting the image of a great cosmic clock, its hands spinning backward.

Her soul rewound—re-entering her body—resetting time to just before Thanos activated the Soul Stone.

Now back in control, the Ancient One altered her seals.

The flames Thanos had dispersed suddenly reformed into countless fiery tendrils that surged around his fingers—binding all five tightly.

A violent yank forced his hand open, disabling his ability to wield the Infinity Stones.

At that moment, Odin approached from behind, driving Gungnir straight toward Thanos' skull.

Thanos ducked just in time, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow.

Odin instantly swapped weapons, raising the Odin Sword high and bringing it down toward Thanos' head.

Thanos reflexively raised his right hand to block.

CLANG!

Even the divine sword failed to damage the Infinity Gauntlet, though the tendrils binding his fingers were severed.

Free once more, Thanos clenched his fist.

RUMBLE!!!

An enormous surge of purple light erupted within the Mirror Dimension, accompanied by a colossal explosion.

In the Real World...

While the Avengers, Asgardians, and Kamar-Taj sorcerers continued their desperate battle, someone else had other plans.

Loki.

He commanded his army of mummies and undead to transport wounded civilians into a ruined building.

Outside, Anubis stood guard, slaughtering any approaching Outriders or Chitauri soldiers.

Inside, the survivors cowered together, terrified by the destruction unfolding outside.

Entire families clung to each other for comfort.

"Everyone," Loki called out, arms raised, "you've seen it with your own eyes. Your world is under siege. The civilization and technology you once took pride in? Useless. In these dark times, only gods can save you."

As he raised his hands, so did Anubis in the sky, flanked by a horde of mummies and spectral undead.

The civilians stared, slack-jawed—shocked as their very understanding of the world was shattered.

Gods… were real?

"You… you're a god?" asked one devout-looking man, crawling forward and gazing up at Loki in awe.

"Yes," Loki answered smugly, clearly enjoying the attention.

"Oh my god, gods really exist!"

"But I'm Christian… that looks like Anubis, the Egyptian god. Will my prayers still count?"

"Who cares what religion he's from? Worship this god and survive!"

"Please, Lord Anubis, save us!!"

The people began to shout, pleading with what they thought was Anubis.

Clearly, they had mistaken Loki for the Egyptian deity due to the towering, awe-inspiring figure of Anubis beside him.

"Ahem."

Loki's face froze awkwardly.

He wanted worship, but not for someone else!

"That's not Anubis! I'm Loki! Anubis is merely my servant!"

With a snap of his fingers, Anubis dropped to one knee, bowing deeply before Loki.

Loki climbed onto Anubis' head, proudly asserting his dominance.

The crowd gasped.

Everyone knew Loki—Norse god of mischief and trickery.

But to command Anubis of Egyptian legend?

The crowd was floored.

"LOKI! LOKI! LOKI!!"

Chants erupted, voices loud and full of fervor. Their loyalty shifted in an instant.

Loki basked in it.

Drunk on praise, pride swelled within him like a tidal wave. He stood tall, grinning with arrogance and satisfaction.

"…Mommy, why are all his soldiers so ugly?"

A little girl's innocent question broke the atmosphere like a hammer.

Her mother paled and quickly clamped a hand over her daughter's mouth.

"Shhh! Don't say that out loud!"

But it was too late—Loki had heard it.

His face twitched awkwardly.

He looked around at his minions.

Aside from Anubis, they were… hideous.

Mummies. Mutant undead. Deformed ghouls.

They looked like a traveling horror show.

"If this keeps up… people might start thinking I'm some kind of monster."

Loki frowned.

"I seriously need to upgrade the aesthetics of my undead army."

He cast his gaze toward the battlefield—specifically the fallen Chitauri.

Compared to his minions, they were fairly presentable.

But they were too weak. He dismissed the thought.

Still, Loki couldn't shake his dilemma: How do I make my army… prettier?

Hidden in the shadows, Ryner quietly observed.

"So that's Loki, huh? As handsome and narcissistic as expected."

Yes. The long-absent protagonist finally makes a cameo. Brief, but flashy.

"…Whatever, as long as he doesn't cause trouble."

With that, Ryner vanished—activating the Crying Mask's ultra-speed—darting through New York.

He tore through Outriders and Chitauri, rescuing critically wounded civilians with lightning-fast efficiency.

"They still haven't figured it out…"

He looked toward the sky.

"…As long as that wormhole stays open, this fight won't end."
