Alex Ray stood up and looked at Kingpin.

Wilson Fisk rose from his seat and began gathering his things.

He glanced at Alex and said calmly, "Don't look at me like that. They specifically asked for you. I've been with you all day—I need to get back to Vanessa, or she'll be pissed."

Seeing that his godfather wasn't interested, Alex didn't push him.

He understood—everyone had their own responsibilities. He quickly turned to Caine to lead the way.

They walked down the hallway and entered another office.

As soon as they stepped inside, Alex saw a man named Frank Castle.

The man's eyes weren't brimming with killing intent, but they were numb—like he saw every person as a corpse. His presence felt more like a weapon than a man.

Alex immediately recognized the look. This guy had to be a mercenary.

No wonder he dared apply for the position of Dean of Discipline. If any gangster parents caused trouble, he'd probably drop them in a few moves.

Just as Alex was about to introduce himself, Frank Castle suddenly stood and dropped to his knees.

He kept repeating, "Thank you," his voice raw with emotion.

Alex glanced awkwardly at Caine, confused.

Caine shook his head, signaling he had no idea what was going on either.

Alex quickly helped Frank up, concern etched into his expression. "What's going on? Why are you thanking me? I don't remember helping you."

Alex was certain—he'd never helped this man. What could possibly make a killer like this show such reverence?

If Alex had opened his system interface at that moment, he would've seen a barrage of prompts:

"Congratulations, host. Frank Castle has successfully added you as a friend."

"Frank Castle's favorability has increased to two stars."

"Frank Castle's favorability has increased to full stars."

"17/20 family members now unlocked."

Frank stood up, realizing he'd lost his composure. With a wry smile, he said, "You might not know me, but you should know Monroe—a kid here, missing his left arm."

Alex looked toward Caine, puzzled. Shamefully, he didn't recognize any of the students yet. This was, after all, his first day at the school.

Caine nodded and confirmed, "Yes, we do have a student named Monroe. He lost his left arm. What's your relation to him?"

Then he turned to Alex and added, "Monroe came from the same orphanage you did, though he's much younger. He was later brought into the Vongola family. Once the school opened, he was enrolled here."

Alex nodded as memory flickered. He looked at Frank again—could this man be Monroe's father?

Frank said with heartfelt gratitude, "Monroe is my son. I've been asking around for a while. If it weren't for you, he might've died in that hellhole of an orphanage."

To Frank, Alex was a godsend. Without him, Monroe would've vanished into the depths of Hell's Kitchen—or worse. Now the kid had a future.

But Alex's expression turned cold at that revelation. "Oh? You're his father? Then what the hell have you been doing all these years? Now you show up pretending to care?"

He stepped forward, his voice sharp. "I won't let anyone hurt my students."

To Alex, this was unacceptable. Where had Frank been during Monroe's worst moments?

But Frank wasn't offended. On the contrary, he respected Alex's reaction.

He took a seat and replied in a low, pained voice, "I used to be an officer in the Marine Corps. I gave everything for this country—my time, my life, my family."

Frank covered his face, visibly trembling. "While I was deployed, my wife was killed in a gang shootout. My son—my Monroe—lost an arm."

"The damn government kept it from me. They sent me on a three-year black ops mission. And the worst part? My closest friend tried to hide the truth from me—tried to stop me from taking revenge."

"When I found out, I hunted down the entire Italian mob responsible. The law didn't do a damn thing—so I did. After that, I searched for Monroe… and found him here."

Alex went still.

There was no doubt now—this was The Punisher, the infamous anti-hero of Hell's Kitchen. Real name: Frank Castle.

Former Marine. Family slaughtered by mobsters. Turned vigilante. His creed: "If you're guilty, you die."

Caine nodded, clearly understanding. If his own daughter were harmed, he'd probably do the same.

Alex recalled hearing about that mafia bloodbath during one of his part-time jobs. Over a hundred people, including servants, had been executed and dumped into a meat grinder. The remains were packed and fed to the ocean.

Not even a proper burial.

Now, standing before him, was the man responsible for that brutal purge.

The more Alex observed, the more he approved. With a guy like Frank around, who would dare skip night classes?

Frank bowed again. "Thank you. Without you, Monroe wouldn't have the life he has now. He's missing an arm, yeah, but he doesn't feel ashamed—and no one around him treats him differently."

Alex waved dismissively. "I'm not as great as you think. Don't you hate gangs? I threw Monroe into one. Don't you resent me for that?"

After all, every kid from the orphanage had been sent to the Vongola family. Without them, there was nowhere else for them to go.

Frank shook his head. "I know about the Vongola. They're not like the others. They're just trying to survive. They haven't done anything to hurt the world."

He was right. If not for the Vongola family, Monroe would've starved on the streets the day he left that godforsaken orphanage. Frank didn't hate them—in fact, he was thankful.

And he fully supported Alex's vision of opening a school in Hell's Kitchen.

This job let him stay close to his son and repay the man who saved Monroe's life.

Alex looked at Frank with genuine admiration.

He reached out his hand and said sincerely, "Then welcome aboard, Frank. I hope you'll keep these students in line and help them make the most of this opportunity."

Frank stood up and shook Alex's hand firmly.

There was a fire in his eyes—a determination. As if he could already see these students forging a path out of the darkness, side by side with Alex and himself.

"Oh right," Alex asked, remembering something, "who was the friend that betrayed you? Are you planning on getting back at them?"

Frank didn't expect the question, but answered without hesitation.

"Nick Fury," he said. "Director of S.H.I.E.L.D."
