Chapter 151: Chapter 151 : Wolverine's Shock
During the fierce confrontation between Alex Ray and the rampaging Dark Phoenix Jean Grey, the surrounding space trembled beneath their clashing magical forces.
Alex's chaos magic surged like a wild storm, colliding violently with Jean's Phoenix Force. The impact of their battle sent out deafening shockwaves that shook the battlefield.
Wolverine—Logan—arrived on the scene, breath ragged, only to be stunned by what he saw.
Storm and Boom-Boom lay wounded on the ground, their bodies battered and clearly incapable of continuing the fight.
Logan immediately knelt beside them, carefully lifting each one, trying to pull them away from the chaos.
Then he turned his gaze toward the sky—and froze.
Hovering in midair, locked in a deadly clash with the out-of-control Jean Grey, was the man everyone had been whispering about in hushed tones.
The Lord of Hell's Kitchen: Alex Ray.
The sheer force radiating from him made Logan's heart pound in his chest.
This guy was terrifying.
Scanning the area, Logan searched desperately for backup. He knew he couldn't stop Jean on his own. They were going to need more firepower. Much more.
And then, a familiar voice chimed in behind him—flippant, mocking.
"Hey, bub. Care for a cold drink and some meaningless banter while the world burns?"
Logan spun around.
Deadpool—Wade Wilson—was sprawled lazily across a random couch he'd apparently dragged onto the battlefield. He held a frosty bottle of Coke in one hand and looked completely at ease, like he was poolside instead of surrounded by the ruins of an X-Men disaster.
The cigarette hanging from Logan's mouth fell to the dirt.
What the hell was this?
A full-on war was happening!
How could this lunatic be acting like he was on vacation?
And wasn't Alex Ray—his boss—engaged in a life-or-death battle above them?
Why wasn't he doing something?
Logan's eyes darted to the sofa beside Wade, where a silver-haired man and a green-haired woman were also seated, sipping sodas and chatting as if they were watching a backyard wrestling match.
Standing before them, arms crossed and furious, was Wanda Maximoff. Her red hair whipped in the wind as she scolded the other two for being careless, all while her eyes flicked anxiously to the sky where Alex and Jean were locked in combat.
Logan's confusion only deepened.
Who the hell were these people?
Did they not understand what was happening?
Did they not realize how dangerous Jean was?
Did they not care that Alex might die?
These people looked so calm—so... untouched. Aside from the dirt on their clothes, they bore no sign of battle.
Logan glanced down at Storm and Boom-Boom, both of them covered in blood and bruises. His frustration only grew.
Dragging the two women, Logan stomped over to Deadpool. "Aren't you going to help? Don't you care if he dies?!"
Wade didn't even look at him. Wanda continued berating Polaris and Pietro for being too slow, too weak, too unworthy.
No one answered.
Logan clenched his fists, helpless.
Then, with his usual sardonic flair, Deadpool finally replied: "It's fine. That's Alex Ray up there. If he can't win, we're already dead. Might as well enjoy the show."
He tossed a cold can of Coke at Logan, who barely caught it, eyes still wide with disbelief.
How were these people so confident in Alex?
Where the hell had they even gotten soda in the middle of a war zone?
Logan didn't stick around to ask. Ignoring Wade and the others, he charged toward the battlefield—straight into the clash of chaos magic and Phoenix fire.
A second later, he was flung backward by the shockwave, body skidding across the ground like a rag doll.
Deadpool sauntered over and looked down at the crumpled Wolverine. "Oh right. Forgot to mention—this battle's way out of your league, gramps."
Then he casually returned to his couch, plopping down, legs crossed, eyes fixed on the skies above.
Logan lay there for a moment before dragging himself upright and silently accepting the truth.
He couldn't do anything.
Frustrated, defeated, and more than a little pissed off, he joined the others in their silent vigil.
Inside, though, his heart churned. He was torn—part of him desperately worried about Jean, the other crushed by his own powerlessness.
And then Deadpool spoke again.
"Hey, Logan. Wanna heal your two friends?"
Logan blinked. "You can do that?!"
Wade grinned. "Duh. I've got a magic talisman. Works like a charm. Usually costs a hundred bucks per head, but for you? Ten bucks. Buy one, get one free. Special battlefield discount."
Logan's jaw clenched. "Can I... put it on credit?"
Deadpool's smile faltered. "You're broke?"
"I'm a mutant, not a millionaire," Logan said, embarrassed.
Their bickering escalated into a full-on argument.
. . . . . .
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the rubble-strewn streets of Hell's Kitchen, Magneto was struggling.
Dragging a wheelchair-bound Professor X behind him, Erik Lehnsherr was doing his best to move quickly—but even he had limits.
"Can't you go any faster?" Charles Xavier called out, voice tight with frustration.
"I'm trying!" Magneto snapped. "I control magnetism, not velocity! You want to fly, ask Storm—oh wait, she's unconscious!"
"I need to get to Jean. I can't feel her. My powers... they're not working anymore."
Magneto grunted, sweat beading on his brow. "Trust me, old friend, I'm doing my best."
"If we don't get there soon—"
"I KNOW!" Magneto shouted, cutting him off.
He was panicking too, but refused to show it.
They had to reach the battlefield between Alex Ray and Jean Grey. Erik had faith in his old student—but he'd rather be sure.
Then Professor X said something that made Magneto falter.
"I sensed the Lord of Hell's Kitchen enter the fray. After that, nothing. My telepathy cut off entirely."
Magneto froze.
Alex Ray was already there?
His shoulders eased. His steps slowed.
"Then we're fine," Erik said calmly.
Charles frowned at him. "What?"
"As long as Alex is there, we've got nothing to worry about."
He came to a halt, catching his breath, and finally turned to Charles with a smirk.
"Take your time. The show's already started."
However, Professor X Charles did not understand why his friend was so blindly confident in Alex
He had no idea how strong Alex was, he only knew how terrifying Jean Grey was when she went berserk.
He was worried that Alex would not be able to stop Jean Grey, and even more worried that she would hurt innocent people.
Therefore, he eagerly urged Magneto Eric to speed up, hoping to reach the battlefield as soon as possible.
