Marvel: AS A PRINCE IN ASGARD

Chapter 57: CHAPTER 57

The Fairy Queen Frigga remained just as Ragna remembered—her slightly curled golden-blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, dressed in a flowing, sky-blue Asgardian robe embroidered with silver runes.

Her expression was warm, patient, and full of unwavering trust.

She stepped forward quickly, pulling Ragna into a firm embrace.

Her voice, though gentle, carried a joyful tremor.

"Ragna, I knew it. I knew you'd come back!"

She pulled back slightly, taking in his appearance.

"You've grown taller."

"You were always wise beyond your years."

"And I knew, from the moment you were born, that you would become a remarkable god."

"You have made your father and me so proud!"

The mention of Odin caused a flicker of complicated emotions in Ragna's sharp golden eyes.

After a brief pause, he replied:

"You'll be even prouder in the future."

His voice carried quiet confidence.

"Because I will only continue to grow stronger."

Then, a cold smirk curled at the edge of his lips.

"As for our 'Great King of the Gods'? Would he truly take pride in an exile?"

Frigga held his gaze, her expression sad yet unwavering.

"He has always been proud of you, Ragna. No matter what, he is still your father."

She pulled him into another warm embrace, as if trying to shield him from the weight of his own bitterness.

Ragna remained silent for a moment.

Then, in a rare moment of honesty, he muttered:

"You will always be my mother."

Frigga had always been his only true family.

Since birth, she had showered him with love, understanding, and unwavering kindness.

She had always known that Ragna was different—that his intelligence far surpassed that of a normal child.

But none of that mattered to her.

To Frigga, Ragna would always be her beloved son.

Unlike Odin, who had spent most of his time waging wars, too distant and detached to be called a father.

There had never been a bond between them.

And what little there was, had long since shattered.

Odin had imprisoned Hela for eternity.

Odin had banished Thor to Earth, stripping him of his power.

Even if it was meant as a trial, Odin's true loyalty had always been to Asgard first—not to his children.

To Odin, Asgard's survival was absolute.

Everything else—his wife, his sons, his daughter—were expendable if necessary.

Odin was a great ruler.

But he had never been a good father.

Ragna had long since seen through the so-called wisdom of the All-Father.

And he despised him for it.

As their conversation drifted, Frigga turned to Valina, her expression suddenly shifting into something playful.

Grasping Valina's hand, she smiled knowingly and began to chat with her in hushed tones.

Ragna sighed.

His mother was up to something.

She wanted to bring him into Odin's chamber, to stand beside her as she watched over the sleeping All-Father.

Even though Ragna was here, making Odin's bedroom one of the safest places in the realm, Frigga still refused to leave his side.

Moreover, Odin—though locked in the Odinsleep—was fully aware of everything happening around him.

Even now, he was watching.

He wanted to see the Ragna of today.

The one who was hailed across the cosmos as one of the strongest beings alive.

The one who ruled over a powerful empire rivaling even Asgard itself.

Perhaps, in Odin's mind, Ragna's power could be of use to Asgard.

But Ragna was not interested.

Not in Odin.

Not in Asgard's political games.

Not in being the pawn of a king who had already cast him aside once.

When Frigga gently urged him again, Ragna simply shook his head.

At least for now, he had no desire to see Odin.

The past was the past.

And Ragna had long since moved beyond Asgard.

Frigga didn't argue.

She simply gave him a long, knowing look—one filled with softness and quiet persistence.

For all of Ragna's power, he still could not fully resist Frigga's gentle gaze.

He sighed.

"Fine."

He muttered, reluctantly.

"I'll go in. But only for a moment."

Before Frigga could answer, a smooth, silk-like voice interrupted.

"My dear mother, who are these guests?"

The sudden arrival of Loki finally broke Frigga's gaze.

With an amused smile, Ragna turned to look at his younger brother.

Loki was dressed in dark green and black Asgardian robes, his hair slicked back in perfect elegance.

Though his expression was polite, there was a calculating sharpness in his eyes.

He had noticed two strangers being escorted through the palace by Heimdall himself.

And as the acting ruler of Asgard, there was no way he would simply stand by.

Frigga embraced Loki gently, before taking his hand and introducing the newcomers.

"Loki, this is your elder brother, Ragna."

"And this is Valina, a Valkyrie—and a close friend of your brother's."

She smiled softly.

"If possible, I hope you can all support each other."

Loki's entire body stiffened.

His face twisted in sheer disbelief.

"My… brother?"

His voice was skeptical.

And then, his sharp green eyes snapped to Valina.

"A Valkyrie? But… they were wiped out."

He instinctively took two steps back, pulling Frigga with him, eyeing the newcomers with deep suspicion.

If Frigga weren't a master sorceress, he might have thought she was being manipulated.

In all his years, he had never heard that he and Thor had an older brother.

It was impossible.

"He is your brother, Loki." Frigga said softly.

"There is much you do not know. We thought he had died long ago…"

Loki's expression darkened.

Though he trusted Frigga, he did not welcome Ragna's sudden return.

If anything, he felt an immediate sense of hostility.

A missing elder brother, returning at the exact moment Odin fell into slumber?

Thor exiled?

And a Valkyrie at his side?

Loki's mind raced.

Could he be here to claim Asgard's throne?

His emerald eyes flickered with dangerous calculations as he studied Ragna and Valina.

Ragna, amused by Loki's reaction, turned to Heimdall and smirked.

"Tell me, Heimdall…"

His golden eyes gleamed.

"Even the common soldiers of Asgard might not recognize me. That, I can understand."

"But how is it that the acting ruler of Asgard doesn't even know who I am?"

His tone was mocking, but there was genuine curiosity beneath it.

Ragna's name and face were well known across the cosmos.

The Cosmic Mercenary Union had spread his reputation throughout most of the known universe.

He was even ranked among the strongest warriors alive.

And yet, Loki—the one who now sat on Asgard's throne—didn't even know his own brother's face?

That was…

Strange.

Very strange.
