Marvel: AS A PRINCE IN ASGARD

Chapter 56: CHAPTER 56

Fifteen years had passed since Ragna seized the Tesseract—it was now 2010 in Earth years.

This year, Thor was banished to Midgard (Earth) by Odin, his divine power sealed as punishment for his reckless attack on Jotunheim's Frost Giants. Meanwhile, Odin himself had fallen into the Odinsleep, leaving Frigga caught between a bitter conflict between her husband and sons.

Her younger son, Loki, had been manipulating events from the shadows, his growing resentment toward Thor pushing him toward his inevitable confrontation with the truth of his origins.

Frigga was torn. She needed to remain by Odin's side to protect him, yet she feared for Thor, now vulnerable without his Asgardian strength.

So, she turned to an old ally.

Through Heimdall, she sent a message.

She wished for Ragna to return to Asgard, not only to see her but also to watch over Thor.

Frigga and Ragna had remained in contact over the years, relaying messages through Heimdall. She was fully aware that Ragna now possessed the strength to protect Thor, even in his weakened state.

The universe was momentarily quiet—there were no major cosmic conflicts demanding Ragna's immediate attention.

Even if Frigga hadn't asked, Ragna had already planned to visit Earth.

The planet held too many secrets and hidden opportunities that aligned with his long-term plans.

Thus, without hesitation, Ragna and Valina stepped onto the Bifrost, nodded to Heimdall, and let the Guardian of Asgard teleport them directly to the golden city.

Though Ragna had memorized Asgard's coordinates, reaching it without permission was another matter entirely.

Asgard was no ordinary planet—nor a galaxy.

It was a vast celestial continent, floating in the depths of space, crafted by a combination of high-level Asgardian magic and ancient cosmic technology.

A city of gods.

Its location was not only hidden but also heavily fortified.

A small force might sneak in through secret passages, but an entire army? Impossible.

The only real way in or out was through the Bifrost.

And even if an enemy force somehow infiltrated Asgard, they would be annihilated by its warriors and its legendary defensive might.

That was once.

Back when Odin stood at his peak, Hela was still Asgard's warbringer, and the Einherjar Army was unmatched across the stars.

Back when Asgard only attacked its enemies—because no enemy was foolish enough to attack Asgard.

But now?

Ragna stood atop the Bifrost, gazing across the golden city.

Asgard still shimmered with grandeur, its architecture as majestic as ever.

And yet…

Beneath the golden light, he sensed the decline.

Aside from Odin, there wasn't a single Tier 4-level warrior in the entire city.

Even Tier 3 combatants were few:

• Frigga, the Queen of Asgard, was one.

• Heimdall, the Guardian of the Bifrost, was another.

And Loki?

Despite his cunning, his raw magical power was barely Tier 3 at best.

No wonder the Hulk tossed him around like a ragdoll years later.

Truly embarrassing for a supposed god.

"Valina," Ragna spoke, turning to his companion.

"Can you believe that if Odin doesn't wake up, you alone could tear down Asgard?"

Years of training had honed Valina's abilities.

The God of War's power she inherited had finally reached Tier 4 combat level—a strength that even Thor, wielding Mjolnir, could no longer match.

"How is that even possible?"

Valina rolled her eyes before scoffing,

"Even if Odin remains in the Odinsleep, the Guardian God Rig, Baldur the God of Light, and Hodr the God of Darkness would be far too strong for me to handle alone."

"The elite army of Asgard would still overwhelm me!"

Valina still viewed Asgard as the invincible realm of gods.

The same Asgard that once dominated the cosmos.

The same Asgard that once sent the Valkyries—her sisters—to hunt Hela.

The same Asgard that allowed those Valkyries to die.

Valina had never forgotten the slaughter.

Had Odin chosen to send more powerful gods to back the Valkyries, they wouldn't have been annihilated.

But Odin had held back.

Because Baldur and Hodr were Hela's elders.

Because they were family.

So instead of dealing with his own rebellious daughter, Odin sacrificed the Valkyries.

A betrayal Valina would never forgive.

Ragna sighed and glanced at Heimdall, who stood silently nearby.

With a knowing smirk, he spoke,

"Think about where your God of War power actually comes from."

"Also… Heimdall is now the new Patron of Asgard."

Valina raised an eyebrow.

"Him?"

She turned to Heimdall, unimpressed.

"I can hit ten of him."

But something in Ragna's words unsettled her.

The God of War's power—

The disappearance of Asgard's might—

The mystery of the Valkyries' downfall.

Could it be that Asgard's weakened state wasn't just a result of time?

Could something else have happened?

If so…

Where had Asgard's true elite warriors gone?

Surely they didn't just vanish.

As the three walked deeper into the city, Asgard's guards failed to recognize Ragna.

After all, his name had long become taboo—just like Hela's.

Yet under Heimdall's lead, Ragna and Valina easily reached Odin's chambers.

Valina scoffed at the lack of resistance.

"Has Asgard really weakened this much?" she muttered.

"I'm actually starting to believe you."

The ease of their passage unsettled her.

Once, Asgard had been an impenetrable fortress.

Now, it felt empty.

Heimdall, overhearing her, grimaced but said nothing.

His role as Guardian of the Bifrost demanded that he remain silent in public.

But deep down, he knew she wasn't wrong.

Outside Odin's chambers, the Asgardian Royal Guard—the last remnant of Asgard's true elite—stood at attention.

Even Heimdall couldn't order them aside.

Then, one of the guards caught sight of Ragna.

His eyes widened in shock.

"…His Royal Highness, the Eldest Prince?"

Ragna smirked.

"So someone still remembers me."

He glanced toward the approaching figure of Frigga—the Queen of Asgard, his mother.

"My dear mother," he said with a smile.

"It's been far too long."
