Chapter 466: Shawn and Short
A small brown-sailed ship crashed through the mighty waves of the World Sea. Its front cut through the water with ease, leaving a trail of foam in its wake.
The sky was dark; and the rain pattered down.
"Where the hell did this storm come from?"
A crewman asked with a shiver, clutching his rain-soaked jacket tightly, and at that moment the ship tilted over to the right.
It was as if more weight was distributed unevenly, causing the ship to list dangerously to one side.
"Ahhhh!"
Their mouths released screams as they grabbed anything they could get their hands on and held on for dear life.
SPLASH!
A splash of water splashed over the deck, soaking them to the bone, and then, shadow fell over them as bigger waves loomed ahead.
They were so big that the boat was in danger of capsizing.
"A monster wave!"
"We're in the Calm Zone of World Seas. I've sailed the Calm Zone for over thirty years, and there has never been a storm this disastrous! What is happening?"
The captain of the ship screamed.
At that moment, a silhouette with a flapping black coat appeared in front of them, standing on the wooden railing of the ship, and outstretched a hand towards the monster wave.
He was the only thing that was between the monster wave and the ship.
"Destroy."
The man whispered, and the monster wave exploded.
The water droplets of the wave came flying straight at him, but none of them managed to touch him, as when they did, they evaporated instantly.
"Ah…"
"What in the world…?"
"Who is he…?"
The crew looked at the strange man in awe and wondered where the hell he came from and why.
They were in the World Seas, no land in sight in any direction, and their ship was the only thing floating on the endless expanse of water.
"I apologize for the scare, gentlemen."
The man turned around and tipped his hat with a smile on his face.
He had a brown, neatly trimmed beard around his mouth, and a twinkle in his eye that put the men at ease.
One would think that the falling rain would drench him completely, but his brown hair and the hat stayed dry like a desert.
"W-well, thanks for saving us, lad. However, where did you come from? No land in sight, and no ship of yours anywhere!"
The captain of the ship asked.
"Name's Shawn…"
Shawn said and spun around on the railing, looking around the surrounding sea with a smile on his face.
Nothing except the raging sea around them, and there indeed wasn't any land anywhere.
"This is a good place… About where I came from, you fellows happen to be looking from the wrong place!"
Shawn said and pointed his finger towards the sky—it had some dark clouds, but there was also something else.
A floating island.
"Unbelievable… Is that the legendary God Island?"
The sailors asked in shock.
They, of course, had all heard about the legendary island—God Island—it was the source of many children's stories.
"A storm of deadly magnitude follows the God Island wherever it goes. It never stays in the same spot, and it'll keep moving till the bell of the apocalypse rocks the skies.
"You happened to be the unfortunate victim of the storm, and the storm will just keep getting worse. That's why I have to ask you all to leave.
"God Island will stay in this part of the seas for eleven days. The storm will become worse after each passing day.
"If you stay here, it will guarantee your death."
Shawn said.
The sailors gasped and looked at each other—they all grabbed the ropes of the sails and began for immediate departure.
Calm Zone of the World Seas was going to be as dangerous as the Dead Zone of the Dead World for the next eleven days!
They weren't suicidal, so they wanted to leave right away!
"Do you want us to take you somewhere? I assume you came from God Island, but we don't have flying capabilities to take you there, I am afraid."
The captain of the ship said.
"Haha, do not fret. I have my own ways of transportation."
Shawn said, looked at the dark sky, and then, with his feet leaving the security of the boat, he took flight into the dark sky.
"H-he is flying!"
"I have heard that the children born in God Island have been blessed with the gift of flight, but I thought that was some fairy tale told to kids to make them dream.
"The world is indeed a fascinating place!"
The captain of the ship said in amazement.
…
Thud…
Shawn landed down at the wooden harbor. It was slightly going over the edge of the flying island, and the wooden planks creaked with each step he took.
Screech!
Someone was sitting at the end of the harbor, dangling his feet over the edge of the island with a fishing rod in hand.
He swung the fishing rod back and cast the line out into the open air—the line kept extending and extending until it finally landed in the water with a soft splash.
"You're not going to catch anything, y'know. The fish have all been scared away by the storm."
Shawn said.
"I am not fishing to catch something. I am fishing to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet."
Short said, and turned around with his hazel brown eyes—he looked identical to Shawn, except that he didn't have his brown beard.
"You, and fishing…"
Shawn shook his head and stared ahead across the sea of stormy clouds and saw something appear in the distance.
It was flying with insane speed and was smashing through all storm clouds like a battering ram through a door.
"Brother."
Shawn patted his brother's shoulder and nudged his chin towards the direction of the flying ship.
"Hmm?"
Short looked over, saw the ship, and reeled the line back to the fishing rod before storing it away.
"Time to get to work. The party is about to start."
