Marrying my father's friend, in love with my best friend

Chapter 43: What was there for her to do?

The same day, at night. After being left home by Andy, Ivy didn't stop thinking about their discussion yet she had no solution, no way to go. For the first time since long, she had no idea of the way to go.

Her brain hurt, thinking of a solution for an impossible enigma. Left tired and no wink of sleep, she sat on her bed, drawing in her sketch book. Back on the headboard, sketch book resting on her laps. It was with all concentration and ease movement she was drawing what was on her mind. The little activity appeasing her, calming her over thinking brain. Putting it at rest.

The door suddenly opened, letting in the person who occupied her thoughts all day. Still in his earlier clothes, he appeared tired after a long day. It was a long day indeed. In fact, instead, a sad day.

"You should really learn to knock before entering a lady room," she said, having no energy to question the why and the how. Her eyes still on her sketch, ignoring the man in question.

"Why? Why do I have to fear?" he replied unbothered and walked in. Closed the door behind him.

"Seeing me naked maybe?"

"And what would be the problem in that?"

She looked up, "Let's not let it reach Shirley's ears and pretend you said nothing," she stated before focusing back on her drawing.

"What are you doing?" He asked climbing on her bed. He joined her at the headboard. She was leaning on it with her sketch book on her laps. He decided to lay on the bed instead. Close enough for their side to touch. A touch Ivy moved away. An action not going unnoticed.

"Drawing. I have in mind of drawing my own personal collection." An idea she had for a while but had no time to execute it. She already has multiple sketch she drew for the same purpose but it never happened. All too busy with other things.

"Don't you already have a fashion show plan soon?" he questioned.

"Yes but all I did was administrative work, nothing in relation with the clothes design. I only gave my approbation but I want one all from my own design. Ivy! It sounds good," she declared, eyes spackling at the idea.

She always wished to not only have her own brand but to be the one designing it. Forced by the circumstances, she had to give that part to someone else but soon, she hoped, she would actively work on the creative side more. Paired with the already designer.

"Didn't you say you won't work today?" he moved closer.

"This isn't work to me," she moved away.

"And just to be clear. You would get no further information aside from what Andy told you. If it's the reason you came, you are wasting your time," aside for that, why would he leave Shirley side to come to her? She already learnt she couldn't rival with Shirley on that matter. There were no need hoping for another reason.

"I know. I came because I wanted to know what I did. Why you have been ignoring me all day and moving away from me," his eyes went to the few centimeters distance separating their bodies. Never. Never have they put distance between them.

"I'm not ignoring you," Ivy stated without looking at him.

"As if I will believe that. All I want to know is why? Have I done something wrong? If so, I'm sorry," he apologized, clasping his hands around her waist. Pulling her closer to him.

He has been wanting to do it all day. Hug her, talk to her, be by her side. He felt so left out. As if an important part of himself was missing. Empty, it how he felt. The warm of her body told him all he had to know, he was only lacking in her warm.

Ivy immediately pushed him away, to his greatest surprise and shock. Ivy herself was stunned by what she did. She was fast to get back to her sense.

"You shouldn't touch me like this. You have a fiancée Liam. You shouldn't act like that with another girl," she scolded him. Wanting to scolded herself as well. How could she walk away from Liam touch like that!.

"What?" Liam asked, still in trance. Never has she ever rejected his touch, nor pulled away from him. Never has she treated him like that.

"Ivy. It's you. Why can't I be close to you?" aside from Shirley and her, he could never act close with no other girl.

"Me or not, you shouldn't. What if Shirley did the same thing with another man, would you be okay with it? I think not." she stood on her ground, though wanting the opposite.

"If he was as important to her as you are for me, of course. Why couldn't I be close with someone I consider as my sister!"

Sister, he has only ever saw them as siblings, nothing else. It wasn't suppose to hurts but it hurts.

"Maybe but I don't want you to anymore," she said.

"Fine!" he said getting out of the bed, "whatever Ivy," he picked up his shoes, wearing them.

"It worth what it worth but thank you. To have helped Shirley out, even though it wasn't even necessary. All she had to do was to tell me," he said tying the lace of his shoes.

"What was the need of all the struggle if it was for her to tell you afterwards?" Ivy complained. Already regretting her moment of kindness.

"It wasn't like she could hide it away from me. We leave together," he stood up.

Wanting to do anything but to go. He wanted to stay with her, and talk it through but he also knew there were no need to insist. For the little pride left on him, he decided to leave.

With a last, long and pain look on Ivy, he walked away, " Good night," and he was gone.

Leaving Ivy with glowing eyes, tears at the verge of falling but she pushed it back in. It was her decision, her words. She had no right to cry when she was the one who hurts him.

The moment he looked at her after saying those words, she knew she took the worst decision ever. Only pride stopped her from falling in his arms and apologizing. She got her answer, hurting the both of them wasn't the way to go. The decision she took was the stupidest she took all through her life. She had to fix it.
