Chapter 44: A bad morning
Horrible. It was all she felt the next morning. Her resting day, her peaceful day, which started just fine ended in a rollercoaster of emotions with the last note being regrets. Profound regrets. She regretted her actions, her words, her reactions. If the past could be changed, she won't hesitate. She would change every of her actions in a heartbeat.
Since the past couldn't be changed, all left was to walk forward, she had to dragged herself out of bed and joined the living world. Her pain won't stop others from working. It won't stop time in his race.
Entering her company building, the noise in the lobby went straight to her head, amplifying the already existing headache. All she wanted was to shout, have them close their mouths but still had enough sense to know it was out of place. Endure, it would be how she would go by for the day. Enduring.
"Good morning Ivy," the Jiang siblings came to her at the same time. Jiang Yong to her right with a goofy smile and sparkling eyes. Jiang Yuyan to her left, her eyes sharing the same glow.
Jiang Yuyan passed her coffee like every morning without fault as soon as she arrived. The taste kicked in upon one sip, awaking her senses and had her sore mood lightened.
"I don't see any good about this morning," she replied.
What good was in the morning? Nothing. Her heart was in distress. Full of remorse and regrets and her lack if rest was an amplifier, amplifying her every emotions.
She spent her night fully awake, unable to get a wink of sleep. Not from crying all night, on the contrary, she was stopping herself from shedding tears. No drop was allowed to rolled on her cheek. She promised herself not to cry anymore and she won't. She won't break a promise made to herself. All night was a battle with herself not to cry. A battle she won but at the cause of getting no rest as she was supposed to do.
It left her with tired eyes she hide with a thick level of make up. Questions would have been asked if she came back from her resting day more tired than she left. She wasn't in the mood to answer any of them. It was more likely for her to snap at them than anything. Good morning? Nothing was good, not even the morning.
Jiang Yuyan frowned eyeing her friend she knew something was off. It didn't take genius, Ivy wasn't a grumpy person.
"Here I thought you would come back in the brightest mood, why the attitude when you spend all your day enjoying yourself?" It wasn't the behaviour expected from her after relaxing herself.
"Bright? What should I be in bright mood?" Other than personal problems, even work wasn't giving her rest. Bright mood, not even talk about it. There were no aspects in her life that was bright. No reason to rejoice and be happy.
"Let me change that." Jiang Yuyan said.
"We were able to sign a contract with five talented model yesterday."
Ivy paused in her steps and turned to her, "For real?" her face brighten seeing her nodding. Maybe the day wasn't as gloomy. Five models! It was a huge relief for them. A burden was gone.
"I have even better news," Jiang Yong said, gaining Ivy focus.
"Rhea and Myra agents called yesterday. They accepted to participate in our fashion show!" He said excited. It was the best News he had for a while and was excited to tell her. The two was highly known model in the country. Having their presence in the fashion world have more gaze on them. It was the reason he came to her as soon as she stepped in. He wanted to be the first to tell her.
If earlier she lighted up, now she was glowing. Her face brighten with a huge smile, one reaching her ears. The day was actually good. Excellent! Perfect!! No reason to complain!!!
"You couldn't make me happier guys," she said entering her office.
It was an unexpected News. She wasn't hoping on that anymore, for Rhea and Myra to agree. She was already trying to fasten another plan but now, it was of no need. A huge burden lifted of from her shoulder.
"Why did they change their mind. I thought we weren't worthy of them?" she asked getting out of her coat.
Rhea and Myra was already asked out by them a moment ago but they were immediately turned down. Their brand and company wasn't well enough established for them. They already went on finding others, but who would have seen the plot twist coming.
"About that," Jiang Yong smile lessen.
"I think it's all due to someone action behind the scenes. There is no way they changed their mind like this when their reasons to decline was logic," he told her his assumptions. It was too big to merely been a luck.
"Even I think so. Five models coming out of nowhere? Talented at that? All at once? On the same day. A coincidence? I don't think so and the same day with Rhea and Myra changing their minds? It smell someone action. Someone helped us," Jiang Yuyan joined her brother. She also thought the same thing and upon investigation, the answer was clear.
Ivy smiled, a sad look on her face, "It's them. Right?" who else ? It couldn't be her father. He won't dare to go against what she asked. The only remaining ones was Andy and Liam.
"From what I collected, it's their actions," Jiang Yong said.
"Ivy, I know you wanted none of your entourage help but don't be mad at them. It's practically impossible for someone to reach success just by its own efforts. Any successfully entrepreneur would tell you so. You are nothing without good connection. And you have it, instead of running from it, we should use it. It won't diminish any of your work. You were grace with it, use it to your advantage."
"Plus they did nothing wrong. Whether it succeed or fail would only be due to our own work. They only gave us a hand. The rest is left to us," Jiang Yuyan added agreeing with her brother.
Ivy heard them right, and agreed with them. It was pretentious of her to think she could do all by herself. She wasn't almighty. She needed help, everyone needs help.
"So I don't only owe an apology but also a thank you," she muttered to herself. Though cripple by fear, she felt joy. Happy. She was surrounded by love. She was loved.
