Magus Supremacy

Chapter 337: Have Fun Stopping Them!

"Noir! With me!" Grey roared as he launched himself into the air, landing squarely on his familiar's broad back.

In a flash of movement, Noir bolted toward the ogre like a living comet—his speed blurring space around him with a streak of dark flame.

"Come to die?" the ogre growled, its deep voice rumbling like a landslide. With surprising agility for its massive frame, it yanked a massive obsidian spear from its back and lunged forward in a brutal thrust.

Noir twisted mid-charge, narrowly avoiding the lethal jab as the air around the spear hissed from its raw power. Grey sprang into the air, lightning dancing across his form as the howling wind caught his cloak and boosted him forward with explosive velocity.

Propelled like a bullet, Grey closed the distance in a flash and hurled a searing fireball at the ogre.

The spell exploded on impact, engulfing the ogre in a plume of crimson flame—but as the smoke cleared, the beast stood unfazed, its thick hide barely singed.

"Hmph." The ogre grunted. Planting its spear into the ground, it used the leverage to halt its skid and fixed its glowing eyes on Grey. "Too weak."

"Think again," Grey muttered under his breath.

He extended his arm like a rifle and fired a concentrated jet of fire—a precise, bullet-like flame that screamed through the air.

"Tch." The ogre clicked its tongue and spun around, drawing an immense hammer from its waist. With a single swing, it smashed the fire bullet mid-air, extinguishing it in a puff of smoke and heat.

"Don't forget about me!" Noir's voice thundered through the battlefield as he burst out of the smoke cloud like a shadow-born missile, his horn aglow with energy. A beam of blazing light erupted from it, screaming toward the ogre's face.

The ogre ducked backward just in time, but before it could recover, Grey was already upon him.

"Earth Gauntlet!" Grey bellowed as stone encased his arm, forming a jagged, armor-plated gauntlet. He slammed his fist into the ogre's gut with a thunderous impact.

Boom!

The shockwave cracked the ground beneath them. The ogre staggered back, its balance faltering.

But with a primal grunt, it stabbed its sword into the earth and flipped over it in a swift motion, landing heavily on one knee before rising again with a wicked smirk.

"Such coordinated attacks. Impressive," the ogre said as it hoisted its sword and began spinning it at high speed. Noir charged again, his horn radiating power as he unleashed a torrent of continuous laser fire.

Sparks flew as the spinning blade deflected the beam with masterful control, turning what should have been a fatal blow into nothing but wasted energy.

"Take this!" Grey shouted from above. He descended like a lightning-wreathed meteor, his fist crackling with raw electricity as he smashed it down on the ogre's shoulder. Another explosion of force rang out—but again, the ogre barely flinched.

Grey landed hard and took several steps back, breathing heavily, his muscles straining. His brows furrowed in frustration as he watched the ogre stand tall, completely unfazed.

"What are you doing?!" Noir growled, whirling around to glare at him.

"I'm fighting, obviously!" Grey shot back between breaths.

"Fighting or playing around?! Where are all your flashy spells now?" Noir barked with a frustrated snarl.

"I'm trying!" Grey shouted. "I haven't gotten a single opening. So stop whining!"

"Whining?! I'm trying to keep your sorry ass alive, idiot!" Noir snarled.

"Uhm… guys?" the ogre interjected, one massive brow raised. "In case you forgot—we're fighting?"

"Just shut up!" Grey and Noir barked in perfect unison before turning back to scowl at each other again.

"I still don't understand how we just managed to pull off that combo attack," Noir muttered, resisting the urge to slap his own face with a paw.

"Like I want to team up with you," Grey huffed, crossing his arms.

"Who said I wanted to work with you?" Noir retorted with equal disdain.

"Okay, you know what? Screw both of you," the ogre snarled, its voice low and guttural before it suddenly lunged forward with terrifying momentum.

Its massive hammer gleamed under the fractured sky as it barreled toward them like a living battering ram.

"Is he coming?" Noir asked in a hushed growl, his back still turned as his claws scraped the ground lightly.

"Yes," Grey whispered, faint arcs of lightning flickering and dancing around his clenched fists. "He's getting closer."

"How close?" Noir asked again, his jaw cracking open slowly, a glint of fire flickering within.

"Terribly close," Grey muttered, his eyes locked on the ogre's rapidly approaching form. A heartbeat later, the towering beast leapt into the air, hammer raised high above its head, ready to crush them like insects.

"Now!"

Boom!

With a mighty spin, Noir unleashed a roaring wave of searing fire magic, a fiery tsunami that surged toward the airborne ogre. The flames lit the arena in a blazing orange glow, distorting the air with their heat.

"Shit!" the ogre cursed, reacting swiftly as it kicked against the air with a thunderous bang. Mid-spin, it yanked out its colossal sword and swung the flat side into the oncoming flames, blasting them aside in a thunderous burst of embers.

"Big mistake," Grey muttered, already in motion.

With a surge of mana-enhanced speed, he bolted skyward in a crackling blur. In a flash of blinding blue light, he rocketed forward, his arm cocked back and pulsing with pure lightning energy.

Then—

Bang!

The electrified punch crashed into the ogre's chest with cataclysmic force, sending the beast careening downward like a meteorite. The earth split beneath its body on impact, sending a shockwave rumbling across the entire arena.

Grey didn't pause. Hovering midair, he extended his hand above his head, mana spiraling violently into his palm.

"Fusion Magic: Thunder Lance!" he roared.

A swirling, condescended spear of wind and lightning formed above him—glowing, humming with unstable energy—and with a single gesture, he hurled it down with a deafening thunderclap.

BOOOOM!

The ground erupted in a massive detonation. Lightning crackled, wind howled, and dust shot into the sky like a mushroom cloud.

The force of the blast carved a deep crater into the arena, its edges glowing faintly from residual energy.

Grey landed, exhaling heavily, his chest rising and falling with effort. Noir trotted up beside him, his burning eyes fixed on the impact zone.

"That should be enough to kill it… right?" Noir asked, tail flicking.

Grey narrowed his eyes at the crater, his instincts prickling. "I don't know. It is a level sixteen beast for a reason."

Then—

"Kek, kek, kek!"

The gravelly laughter echoed from the settling dust like the voice of a nightmare. As the smoke cleared, the ogre stood tall amidst the wreckage, its crimson armor scorched but intact, a single deep gash bleeding black across its forearm.

"Tsk." Grey clicked his tongue in frustration. "Knew it. That wasn't enough."

"You are useless," Noir deadpanned with a snort.

Grey spun toward him. "Wasn't your fire magic supposed to be stronger than mine?! Why didn't it burn that thing to ash?!"

"Because it deflected it with its arcused sword," Noir retorted dryly. "Not my fault you can't predict tactics."

"I—!"

"Enough!" the ogre bellowed, its voice thunderous enough to make the air tremble. "Do you fools think this is a game? That your childish banter will work twice?!"

"No, we don't think it's a game," Grey replied calmly, a cocky grin stretching across his face. "But... sorry to say, the banter worked again."

The ogre's expression froze.

Grey pointed toward the sky—and the ogre followed his gaze—only to see a massive storm of floating weapons: fifty earthen spears, hovering like jagged thorns, and fifty crackling lightning arrows, vibrating with lethal energy.

"Have fun stopping them," Grey said as he snapped his fingers.

The sky rained death.

Hey Magus Legion! Just wanted to inform y'all that we are nine chapters away to the next arc (volume) an arc that will break Grey down, strip him off everything he has or had.

I know you all are eager for when he would awaken his fifth affinity but should I be honest? It isn't happening anytime soon. Probably at chapter 600 or 700 that's when he would awaken that.

But for compensation, I have decided (written) to give Grey a powerup, something so powerful and rare(for mages) that no any other mage has it. And yes, it's coming up in this same next arc. So please guys, kindly stick around for a little bit longer. Thank you 😊 ✌️

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
