Chapter 26: chapter 26:anonomyth
Chapter (26):anonomyth
Emma was still inside the car, staring at the police cars and looking around.
The police were in complete chaos due to what had just happened. It was so shocking that backup was called immediately.
Five police cars arrived at the school and asked all the students to leave the crime scene. The police and investigators were going inside, searching for any sign or trace of the perpetrator.
Emma was looking at Andrew, who was sitting near her, looking down with his hands on his face because of the death of his friend Jack. Seeing one of his friends dead in such a way must have been horrifying, but Emma didn't show any reaction at all. Instead, she focused her gaze on something else.
Emma was watching the police officers as they tried to remove the bodies from above. They were tied with chains and barbed wire. The bodies were in a horrific state, mutilated in a way that only the devil could think of.
Half of their faces were skinless, their eyes forcibly ripped out, and their bodies covered in deep wounds that looked like they were made by long, thin claws. Their legs were completely broken, resembling those of a ragdoll. The chains and barbed wire tied around them were extremely tight, and the bodies were compressed in a terrifying manner. But the worst part was their faces—more specifically, their mouths.
Half of their mouths were completely torn off, revealing all their teeth if you looked closely. For some reason, the other side of their faces was completely intact, except for the eyes. It was as if the devil was trying to tell you something, but Emma didn't know what it was. However, she knew one thing for sure:
"This wasn't done by a human. I'm sure of it. Whatever did this came from the Faces forest, but what kind of monster? I don't know, but... whatever it is, it managed to get out..."
"For a moment, I thought the faces forest had a protective mechanism that prevented those inside from escaping, but I was wrong. And that leads us to another mystery."
While Emma was deep in thought, Marcus was in a state of chaos.
"What the hell is happening here?!"
Marcus was absolutely certain that the two victims were the ones who had bullied Emma. Damn it! The bastard who hit Emma was lying dead in front of him in a way that only the devil could think of.
But the more important question was: Why were they killed specifically? Wasn't Emma their victim of bullying? Were there more? Or was there a psychopathic killer who happened to come across them and hang them like this?
Each body was hung in a different place, far apart from each other, tied with barbed wire. But there was a missing piece of the puzzle: the door was tightly locked and sealed. This didn't make sense. How did the perpetrator escape in that state?
Unless they had a rope and were skilled at climbing, and could carry two bodies along with chains and wires, it would take a long time to do this. Why would the killer go through all this trouble? There's no logic in any of this.
But there was something bothering him, something that felt like it was tightening his throat.
The perpetrator did this without any logic, but not without a reason. It meant that whoever did this wanted to show someone, but who? The most likely person was Emma, but he dismissed that immediately. She had been with him all day.
There was no logical way his daughter was involved in any of this. He turned and looked at the bodies, feeling some anger toward them and within himself.
These were the ones who had bullied his daughter, and as much as he hated them, they didn't deserve to die. They deserved to be punished, but not in such a horrific way.
He saw that their parents had arrived a few minutes ago, and when they saw their children dead, they collapsed to the ground and screamed in despair. They hugged their children's mutilated bodies, and the pain and shock only grew as they continued to stare at them.
Marcus looked at them with pity before going to his wife.
His wife was standing at a distance, looking at the horrific scene with her hand over her mouth.
"Honey, can you take Andrew and Emma away from here? I don't want them to suffer from seeing such a horrific scene," Marcus said, looking away.
"Yes, I'll do that. And Marcus, be careful."
Mr. Blackwood looked at his wife with confident eyes. "Don't worry, I won't let them down. Not again."
Mrs. Blackwood went and got into the car, starting the engine.
"Hey, where's Dad?" Emma asked.
"He'll stay here for the investigation. We're going home," Mrs. Blackwood replied.
"Okay, that's for the best," Emma said coldly.
"Hey! I want to go and talk to my friend!" Andrew shouted in fear. "I want to know if—"
"Not now, Andrew! We have to go home immediately. The killer is still at large, and worse, they're still nearby. No matter what happens, you're not going back to school, and neither are you, Emma."
"But—"
"No buts. We're leaving, and that means we're leaving," Mrs. Blackwood said, starting the car and driving away.
Emma was now at home and couldn't leave because of the killer. She didn't know how many days she would have to stay at home. She was currently in her room, sitting on her bed, thinking about what was going on. She decided to open her laptop and check the news, but there were only one or two reports about the crime. She regretted it afterward.
"All I see are people talking about them just to get a few views. They don't even know their names! How ridiculous. I won't learn anything this way."
"Hey! Let me see if these people know anything about this."
Emma typed something and opened a secret website called Anonomyth (a fictional site in reality). This site displayed all kinds of crazy secret stories and conspiracies, and no one could discover your identity. Emma had found it by chance when she was feeling down and had been entertained by their stories. Her account name on the site was Being X.
Emma was watching the posts, helping to figure out what they were talking about, and checking the news.
[Mimor23: The deep state has decided to move again, and this time with aliens.]
[Darkring33: The reptiles are starting to come to our world! Did you know that the person most responsible for advancing artificial intelligence is a reptile?]
[Imega916: Warning, robots are starting to dominate the world. In a few years, there won't be any jobs left for anyone.]
[Monkey23king: (Picture) A real big foot! Look at this.]
Emma smiled as she saw this, as they were still talking about all that.
[Being X: Hi, do you know anything about the ****** school incident?]
[Andromeda019: What? What happened? A murder crime?]
[Being X: Something like this (picture).]
[WOooLF56: Fu*k! What the hell happened? What kind of psychopath did this?]
[Akamir: They look like they're from a horror movie.]
[Darkring33: Did the reptiles do this, or were they the reptiles?]
[Andromeda019: From the way the wounds and mutilation look, it doesn't seem like it was done by a human. Did an animal attack them?.]
[Monkey23king: No, it wasn't done by an animal! It was done by a creature beyond our understanding!]
[WOOOLF56: Do you mean a demon like Satan or Baphomet?]
[Money23king: I don't know, man. Maybe both?]
[Imega916: Stop it. It's definitely not either of them. From the picture, we can tell that they suffered horrific torture before they died. Whoever did this really hated these two.]
When Emma saw Imega916's comment, she couldn't help but agree. Indeed, whoever the perpetrator was, they really hated Jack and Jessica. Maybe these two had bullied many people? But she didn't think they had bullied anyone else besides her. It made her wonder one thing:
What was the killer's real goal in all of this?
This made her start solving a series of unsolvable puzzles...
And in Andrew's room...
Andrew was opening his phone and talking to his friend, feeling scared that he might suffer the same fate.
[Andrew: Nathan, answer!]
[Nathan: Andrew! Are you okay? Thank God, I thought for a moment that you were gone too!]
[Andrew: Did you see Jack... Did you see?]
[Nathan: Yes, Andrew, I saw. I saw everything. And Jack... he's...]
[Andrew: Dead.]
[Nathan: Yes...]
[Andrew: I know Jack, and I know he did bad things, but he... he never deserved something like this.]
[Nathan: I know. I hated him, but I didn't want him to end up like this.]
[Andrew: And the worst part is... Did you see what happened to Sarah?]
[Nathan: I saw her clearly. The sicko who did this hung them up like they were sacrifices to him. Whoever did this isn't human.]
[Andrew: God... I saw them from a distance, but... oh my God! (Crying) They didn't deserve this!]
[Andrew: Just who could do something so brutal?]
[Nathan: ...]
[Nathan: Andrew.]
[Andrew: ?... Yes.]
[Nathan: Where was your sister last night?]
[Andrew: Huh? Why?]
[Nathan: I don't want to suspect anyone, but I think your sister is involved in this.]
[Andrew: What? Dude, are you crazy?! Why would Emma—]
[Nathan: Because she confronted them directly and took down Jessica and Sarah and faced Jack.]
[Nathan: That's why I'm asking you again, where was your sister last night?]
[Andrew: That's impossible! I saw her with Dad, and she locked herself in her room. There's no way she could've done something like this!]
[Nathan: Then that settles it.]
[Andrew: Huh? What do you mean?]
[Nathan: There are only two people who could've done this to Jack and Sarah.]
[Nathan: Since Emma isn't the killer, that means it must've been him.]
[Andrew: Him? Who do you mean?]
[Nathan: Did you forget, Andrew? The person who helped Emma, the person Dan told you about. Did you forget who that is?]
[Andrew: Wait! You don't mean—]
[Nathan: Frank was the culprit.]
[Andrew: But that's impossible! He was in really bad shape when I first saw him.]
[Nathan: Did that stop him from beating Jack to a pulp?]
[Andrew: !!!!!]
[Nathan: Exactly. Listen to me, Andrew. Remember, it's just a guess, but maybe Frank is the killer.]
Earlier, in the schoolyard...
Marcus was still in the same clothes he had been wearing.
He was with the police, conducting the investigation. They were searching.
After continuing the search for an hour, Marcus decided to sit down and smoke a cigarette, but he saw that his lighter was broken and threw it away in anger.
"What a day to start with?"
Marcus looked toward the source of the voice and saw an old man with white hair, wearing a badge shaped like a star on his right chest.
"Commissioner John!" Marcus said in surprise, standing up quickly. "What is a distinguished man like you doing here?"
"I was sitting in my office until I heard news about a damn killer who hung the bodies of two children on a school pole like they were animals on a skewer!!" John shouted in anger as he mentioned this. "Did this bastard watch Friday the 13th too much and decide to do it in real life?"
"If that's what happened, I'd give him a medal for it. I'd personally execute him as soon as I catch him," John said, looking at the poles for a second before looking back at Marcus.
"So why are you here? I heard you decided to take a day off, not two days. This isn't like your usual self. Did something happen to your kids?" John asked.
"I was about to transfer her to another school because she was being bullied, but," Mr. Blackwood said.
"It seems like the world had a different opinion about that?" John replied.
"Yes, and its opinion was very harsh on them," Mr. Blackwood answered.
"What do you mean?" John asked curiously.
"Because these two, along with another girl, were bullying Emma."
"So you're saying these two victims weren't killed by a sick criminal, but by a kid their own age?" John asked in shock.
"Yes, we're dealing with a bullying victim who became a deranged criminal," Mr. Blackwood replied.
"In my generation, we solved this with a fair fistfight, not like this! Ugh, this generation is getting worse!" John shouted in anger.
"That's what I thought too," Mr. Blackwood replied.
"Yes, what? Why? What did you find to say that?" John asked strangely.
"Nothing," Mr. Blackwood replied.
"What?" John replied in shock.
"We didn't find anything, or any sign of the perpetrator's presence during our search. We searched for a full hour and found no trace of them."
"Wait, what? What you're saying doesn't make sense. What about the security cameras?" Marcus asked.
"That's the craziest part. There was nothing, no sign of their presence. There was no movement," Mr. Blackwood replied.
"What the hell? Then how did they hang them on the roof? Did they use climbing tools?" John asked.
"That's what we thought too, but there were no marks or signs of climbing on the walls. It's as if they jumped to the roof in one leap."
"What you're saying is just insane, Marcus," John said with a worried tone.
"But that's the strange part. They managed to hang them so easily and locked the door from the inside and outside, which is theoretically impossible. It's as if they were just a ghost."
"What you says is just doesn't make sense, just like the incident 10 years ago," John replied fearfully.
