Chapter 25: chapter 25:the wish
Chapter (25):the wish
Some time ago at school...
In the hallway, while Emma's father was arguing with Mason about the bullying incident, Nathan was near the door, trying to listen to their conversation through the wall.
"Darn it, I can barely hear anything! What are they talking about, I wonder? I hope it's nothing bad!"
Nathan was trying to listen, but he could hardly make out any words. Maybe it was because the door was tightly shut or the walls were too sturdy. He wasn't sure, but that room was definitely well-built.
Hmm? What's that?
While he was thinking, he heard the sound of footsteps.
"Oh crap! They're coming out! I need to hide!"
Nathan quickly ran and turned to the left, stopping at the corner.
"Dad, what the heck was that?!"
Huh? What's going on between them?
"What was the reason for all this?
"Reason? Then tell me why?" Mr. Blackwood spoke while staring into his daughter Emma's eyes.
"Why what? Be more specific. I can't know what you're trying to say," Emma replied.
"About your brother, tell me why he ignores you, why he lets all this happen?" Marcus asked angrily.
"Oh damn, Andrew's is done! As soon as you tell the truth, it's over to him!"
Nathan closed his eyes while thinking the worst for Andrew, unaware of Emma, who stared at him for half a second.
"Because... he's busy with the football club. Since he joined the club, he's been very busy. He rarely sees me," Emma replied."
"Wait, is she covering for him?" Nathan thought in shock.
"And what about that bastard who hit you?" Mr. Blackwood asked in a threatening tone.
"That jerk was just a stupid friend of those bullies. Andrew has nothing to do with any of this," Emma said loudly.
"Wait, why did you raise your voics?" Mr. Blackwood asked strangely.
"There was a small burning in my throat, *cough* *cough* and it's gone now," Emma replied.
"Does she know I'm here?" Nathan thought in shock. "But I'm hidden on the other side of the hallway. How did she know I was here?"
Mr. Blackwood gave his daughter a strange look. "Hmm... if you're telling the truth, let's see for ourselves. Come with me to see how Andrew is doing."
After both Marcus and Emma left, Nathan let out a strong sigh.
"I don't know if it's a coincidence or fate, but I'll take this chance!"
"I need to call him and tell him what to do!" Nathan thought before calling Andrew.
Present time, near the field...
Nathan and Andrew were sitting in a spot away from the field.
"Phew! Thanks, buddy! I wouldn't have known how to respond if you hadn't called me at the right time!" Andrew spoke with relief.
"Don't mention it. I did what anyone would do in my place."
"Yeah, like that time you almost peed yourself."
Hahaha... hah...
Andrew let out a heavy sigh.
"So, did Emma really cover for me?" Andrew asked skeptically.
"Yeah, she didn't tell your dad anything about you. In fact, she denied that Jack was your friend, dude."
"Yeah, but I thought she would—"
"You thought she would rat you out, right? You thought she would tell your dad about you ignoring her and about the cafeteria incident."
"Yeah," Andrew replied with a heavy sigh.
"Don't worry about it. She would never do that."
"Why do you think so?" Andrew asked curiously.
"Well, I don't know her, but she still considers you her brother," Nathan spoke honestly.
"Her brother?" Andrew thought while looking at the ground.
"Yeah, you're still her brother after all. You and she are still part of the family."
"Family..."
Andrew remembered those times when they were truly siblings and how Emma used to smile at him back then, and how he had destroyed all of that.
"I really..."
"But she seems to have changed a bit," Nathan spoke.
"Changed how?" Andrew asked curiously.
"Usually, when they argue, Emma ends up on the losing side. But this time was different. She hit them and fought them with all her determination and without hesitation."
"Like... like she was enchanted by something," Nathan spoke with some mystery.
"Do you know anything unusual that happened to her recently?" Nathan asked curiously.
"Nothing except a mysterious friend."
"Mysterious, you say?"
"Yeah, she meets him in the forest most likely. I don't even know what he looks like. All I know is his name is Smiley. I mean, what kind of silly name is that?" Andrew spoke.
"That's strange," Nathan spoke while thinking deeply.
"Yeah, isn't it?" Andrew replied sarcastically.
"I don't mean that, Andrew," Nathan answered.
"What do you mean?" Andrew asked suspiciously.
"I mean that one of Dan's friends disappeared in the forest, and we haven't heard anything about him since he entered," Nathan replied.
"What? Is that true?" Andrew spoke in surprise.
"Yeah, his name is Barry. He was the one who was with Dan on donation day."
"What? That arrogant jerk?" Andrew asked angrily.
"Yes."
"That's really strange," Andrew replied mysteriously.
"Yeah, first he gets beaten up by Frank, and then Barry disappears. It's just weird."
On the other side, outside the field during break time, all the players were standing anxiously towards Dan. Dan was covered in bandages and was in very bad shape after being beaten by Frank. Yet, he still maintained his authority in the team.
He was staring at them angrily while looking around, making sure to inform his group.
"Haven't you guys heard anything about him?"
"No, Dan. We searched everywhere he might be, and there was no trace," one of the players spoke.
"Even his family came to school this morning because he never came home or sent them anything since yesterday," another player spoke.
"Oh boy," Dan spoke angrily.
"And the police came and searched for him, but," one of the players hesitated.
"It's like he just disappeared and never existed," another player replied.
"Ugh!" Dan screamed angrily.
"I think we should tell the police to go to that place he was last seen going to."
"What? No! If we tell them, they'll link it to me, and worse, if something happened to him, they'll consider me the culprit! Not to mention Frank's story. We'll be completely finished! Wait for us until then."
"Boss!" another player shouted, running towards him and interrupting his speech.
"What? Did you find out anything about Barry?" Dan asked.
"No, boss, but about Emma, there's something you should know."
"Huh? What does it have to do with Barry?" Dan asked in surprise.
"No, the thing is," the player whispered into Dan's ear, and when he heard the news, he smiled.
"Well, that's really good news!" Dan spoke cheerfully.
"What, boss?" one of the players asked.
"It seems Emma will be leaving school soon, and all thanks to three idiots."
"Man, I'd like to thank them myself if I get the chance. They got rid of a pesky bird from this place."
"And now I wonder where they are now. I hope they don't go into the forest and disappear like Barry! Hahaha *cough* *cough* hahaha."
"Yeah, hahahaha!" all the players laughed dryly at Dan's joke, and he was in pain while laughing.
...
At some point outside the school.
Jack was sitting somewhere outside the school.
"Oh damn! This really hurts!" Jack screamed angrily.
Jack was touching his face where Frank had hit him hard, and he had lost consciousness.
"Damn that bastard! I heard they got Frank and took him down! They took down my jaw! He's the one who took them down!"
"How can we take down that damn monster!" Jack screamed angrily.
"Ugh, this jaw pain!" Jack screamed in pain.
While Jack was looking at the ground angrily, he noticed darkness, and when...
"Hmm? Aren't you Sarah? Jessica's friend?" Jack spoke.
"Yes, I'm Sarah Freshman. We haven't been properly introduced before, and you?" Sarah asked.
"Jack Tomson is my name," Jack spoke.
"Thank you, Jack," Sarah spoke with admiration.
"For what?" Jack asked hesitantly.
"Thank you for defending me in front of that bitch," Sarah spoke angrily when mentioning Emma.
"That's the least anyone could do in such a situation," Jack replied.
"And I still have to thank you for that," Sarah spoke.
"How about we take a walk?" Sarah suggested.
"Yeah, of course, that would be good for my body," Jack spoke.
Both of them were walking away, and the sun had already set. They were walking away, close to the forest. As they walked, Sarah stared at him in admiration.
"So, how did you meet Jessica?" Jack asked.
"I met her in elementary school on my first day," Sarah replied.
"We weren't friends at first. Jessica was new to town, but after a while, we got to know each other like siblings," Sarah said, smiling.
"That's nice," Jack replied.
"So, why did you attack that girl?" Jack asked curiously.
"Because that bi**h started it all," Sarah shouted angrily.
"Oh? How?" Jack asked curiously.
"Do you know about the supermarket incident?" Sarah asked.
"Yes, but what does that have to do with her hating you?" Jack replied innocently.
"You don't know the full story. The truth that devil hides."
"That day, when they were all taken hostage, they threatened that if anyone called the police, they would die. But there was a despicable girl who didn't care about their lives. She called the police and watched silently as they died."
"And when she felt the time was right, she went in and told them the truth. Then he took her and shot her. That was her signal to pull out the gun and end it, and the police arrived at the same moment she fired."
"But that was exactly what she wanted. She wanted fame for herself, even at the cost of people's lives. That's the truth. If it weren't for Andrew, no one would have known," Sarah finished.
"Wow, that girl really is a devil, no joke."
"Yes, and since then, we decided to make her pay the price she owed."
"Of course, that was before she suddenly became strong and beat us up," Sarah said.
"That must have been painful. Is Jessica okay?" Jack joked.
"She's fine. Her condition would have been worse if she hadn't kicked that bitch's ass," Sarah said.
"Ah, that's awkward, not after Frank turned me into pulp," Jack joked.
"Jack, there's a gathering of girls at the ******* restaurant. Do you want to come?" Sarah asked.
"Ha! I definitely will!"
Rustle!
Jack's words were interrupted when they heard a strange sound.
"Huh?" both Jessica and Sarah asked.
Both Sarah and Jack were looking forward into the forest and saw something.
"Huh? What the hell is that?"
...
At night, in Emma's house.
Emma was locked in her room by her parents, who were angry and worried about her. She could hear her mother screaming about transferring her to another school.
"Great, now everything is ruined. Maybe I won't be able to meet Smiley for a while."
"Whatever, as long as Andrew isn't in the same school as me, everything will be fine."
"I could have told the truth back then. Maybe I can say it anytime I want, and I can make him taste what I felt that day."
"But..."
"What am I thinking? He's still my brother after all. I won't do it unless he does something despicable, but then it will be too late."
"Tomorrow will be a busy day. Maybe I should talk to Smiley. Maybe we won't meet again."
"Hardly a few days since I met him and became friends, and now I'm about to move to a distant school. It's as if fate hates me."
"Not to mention, I spent all the money I found in the safe after a long struggle."
"*Sigh* I just wish the world would collapse."
Early in the morning....
Emma and her family were in the car.
Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood were dressed elegantly, and Mrs. Blackwood was wearing some makeup.
Marcus was driving the car and looked through the window at Emma and Andrew, who weren't looking at each other. He immediately knew something was wrong and ignored it, deciding to change the subject.
"Emma, what I'm doing is for your own good. Your mother and I discussed this matter."
"Yes, Emma, this is for your own good," Mrs. Blackwood replied.
"Don't worry. In the new school, you'll start fresh, and there won't be any bullies or harassment. I'll personally ask the principal to recommend someone who can protect you if something like this happens again," Marcus said.
"Yes, I hope so," Emma said, looking out the window.
Andrew looked down as if he was thinking of saying something.
"Hmm? Why are they gathering like this in front of the school gate? Wait, why are the police cars here? What's happening?" Marcus spoke in confusion.
There were many people gathered in front of the police gate because of a yellow tape preventing them from crossing. They were filming what was happening, terrified and shocked. The police were trying to keep all the students away as they looked up.
"Just what are they looking at__"
Emma's words were interrupted when she looked up and was shocked.
"OH MY GOD!" Mrs. Blackwood screamed in shock and fear.
"What the hell!?" Marcus spoke in shock.
"No!!!!!" Andrew screamed in terror, trying to deny what he was seeing.
There were two bodies hanging on different poles in the school, and those bodies were known to both Andrew and Emma.
Sarah and Jack were killed in a horrifying way that the mind couldn't comprehend, as if it was the work of the devil himself.
Emma looked at this and knew one thing for sure: this wasn't the work of a human. Whoever did this came from that forest.
The faces forest
