Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The Source

Hatch Hotel.

The hotel somewhat resembled a two-story apartment with a pool in front, and the overall environment was quite decent.

Luke and his group of five got out of the car.

David couldn't help but ask, "Marcus, how did you find this place?"

Marcus laughed, a look of pride on his face, "Do you want to reimburse me for the informant fee?"

Raymond and Jenny walked to the hotel counter, showing their badges and a photo of Harry.

Soon, the hotel staff helped to identify the room where Harry was staying.

Luke and the others pulled out their pistols, standing on either side of the door, ready to rush in and make the arrest.

Jenny knocked on the door, "Knock knock…"

There was no response from inside the room.

Jenny knocked again, "Hello, room service."

"Fuck, we didn't order room service, you got the wrong door, don't disturb my sleep," a rebuke came from the room.

David nodded his head and gestured confirmatively.

Jenny continued, "Sir, we have a promotional event at the hotel today, breakfast is complimentary."

Harry shouted, "What kind of crap event is that, I didn't hear about it yesterday..."

"If we wait any longer, he will become suspicious…" David made a sign to attack.

Luke had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, the next moment David rushed to the door and kicked it open, "LAPD!"

"Nobody move!"

"Get down."

"Hands on your head!"

"Let me see your hands!"

Luke, Raymond, Marcus, and Jenny all rushed into the room.

Harry, bare-chested, was already bewildered.

A black woman hiding behind him screamed even louder, "Ah..."

"Clear."

"Clear."

"Clear."

The room was small, only having a separate bathroom, and Luke and the others quickly searched it.

Seeing Luke and David, Harry waved his hands, "Oh my God, what are you guys doing?"

David holstered his gun, "Isn't this Harry? Nice to see you."

Harry questioned, "Are you guys crazy? Why did you break into our room?"

David looked at the woman beside Harry. "Who are you?"

Harry shielded the black woman behind him, "She's my girlfriend."

"Raymond, Jenny, take her to the next room for questioning."

The black woman, with a good figure, covered herself with a sheet and went to the bathroom to dress, following Raymond and Jenny out.

Marcus glanced at the black woman a few times, then gave Harry a sidelong look, mumbling a few words.

David sat opposite Harry, "OK, no outsiders here now. Harry, tell me, why didn't you answer my calls?"

Harry sighed, "What are you doing? Just because I didn't answer your calls, you made this whole scene."

"Don't change the subject, answer me."

"Can I put some clothes on first?"

"No."

"Answer my question first."

"We had an agreement before, I help you get information on Tony Will, and you don't pursue my assault on a police officer, I did that for you.

What did you do?

You asked me to look into Lindsay Halse, and I did that for you too."

"We're square now, I don't want to be threatened by you anymore, why would I answer your phone."

"You can't keep threatening me with this, and I won't be manipulated by you anymore, absolutely not."

With that, Harry showed an angry expression, "Just because I didn't answer your phone, you brought a bunch of cops bursting into my room.

What's the difference between you and a robber?"

David shook his head and chuckled, "You're wasting your talent not being a politician."

"I'd vote for you," Luke also laughed, pulling out a photo of Alyssa from his pocket, "Know her?"

Harry hesitated for a while, "I don't know her."

Luke patted his cheek, "Be smart. We wouldn't have stormed into the motel without sufficient evidence. Don't cause us trouble, and don't make things unpleasant for yourself, understand?"

"OK, I know her, so what?"

"Where did you meet her?"

"Boel Club."

Luke scratched his head, "Hey, I'm getting annoyed by your attitude. If I ask, you should spill it all honestly instead of doling it out like squeezing toothpaste—one word at a time.

If you don't cooperate with me, I'll hand you over to David. Got my meaning?"

Harry looked at Luke, then glanced at David, "I had a conflict with her, she's a dancer at Boel Club. I wanted to see her perform solo, but she wasn't having it, so I cursed at her a few times. That shouldn't be enough to involve the cops, let alone Robbery and Murder Department."

Luke asked, "Remember why we had you look for Tony Will?"

"He's a suspect in the Taser gun robbery case."

"Right, this woman could also be a victim of the Taser gun robbery case, and you had a conflict with her at the club. You also know Tony Will, so we have reasons to suspect your involvement in this robbery."

"What? A robbery case!" Harry showed a surprised expression, "nonono, I've never been involved in any robbery, even if Alyssa was robbed, that has nothing to do with me."

David said, "Harry, I know you gang members, Alyssa slighted you, and you definitely sought revenge on her. Don't deny it, if there's no reasonable explanation, we can only take you back to the station, and it won't be as easy to let you go this time."

"Oh my god..." Harry rubbed his head hard, "I... admit I sought revenge on her... but definitely not in that way."

"How did you take revenge on her?"

Harry shrugged, "I secretly took photos of her dancing, then followed her and put the photos in her house."

David snorted, "Just as I thought, you scumbag, capable of such a despicable act, utterly low."

Luke, however, noticed something different, "Hey, you put the photos in Alyssa's house? Or in Alyssa's parents' house?"

"I don't know, I just followed her, saw where she lived, and placed the photos there, just wanted to teach her a lesson."

"Address?"

"Seems like... the Lien neighborhood."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I just put the photos in the delivery locker at the entrance."

"Was the locker locked?"

"Yes."

"How many copies of the photo did you drop in?"

"One copy."

"Who took the photos away?"

"I don't know."

"How many photos did you take in total?"

"Ten."

"How were the photos packaged?"

"In a light grey envelope."

Luke and David exchanged glances, Harry's description of the photos matched the ones found at Alyssa's parents' house.

But Lien neighborhood was the home of Alyssa and Steven, not Alyssa's parents' house.

Why would the photos appear at Alyssa's parents' house?

Assuming Harry put the photos at Alyssa's house, Alyssa would have destroyed the photos upon encountering them, not placed them at her parents' house entrance.

It's likely that someone else discovered Alyssa dancing in the photos and then placed them at her parents' house.

The locker at Alyssa's house was locked, if not Alyssa who took the photos, the most likely candidate was her husband Steven.

A man discovering his own wife in such a dance, would surely be disastrous...
