The old white man gave an awkward smile, "What a coincidence."

"Turn around, you are under arrest."

"Why?"

"Because you assaulted a police officer."

The old man was speechless, "What are you talking about? I didn't do anything, how did I assault a police officer?"

"The night before last, you followed me, and this morning you monitored me. Your actions made me feel threatened. I believe you compromised the safety of me and my family."

"Don't you think that's a bit far-fetched? I'm just an unarmed old man, what danger could I possibly pose to you?"

"Whether it's far-fetched or not, that's for the judge to decide. I'm just responsible for arresting you."

Luke pinned the old man against the car as he struggled, but he was no match for Luke.

"Hey, don't treat me like this, there's been a misunderstanding, I wasn't watching you."

"You were holding binoculars and staring at that house, and you say you weren't watching me?"

"That house isn't yours, what makes you say I was watching you?"

"Then who were you watching?"

"I was watching my daughter."

"Who is your daughter?"

"Daisy."

"What's your name?"

"Lawrence Miller."

"Hand over your driver's license."

Luke checked his license, the surname matched Daisy's.

Luke took a photo of his driver's license and picture, "Are you really Daisy's father?"

"Yes, I came to see my daughter. Are you still going to arrest me?

If you really want to do that, then go ahead and arrest me. I'll call my lawyer daughter to get me bailed out.

I'm sure it will be very interesting."

Luke didn't completely believe the old white man's words.

What if this guy was a scammer? Although it's not likely for someone to scam the police, it would be even more embarrassing if a police officer was deceived.

"How can you prove you are Daisy's father?"

"I have a photo with Daisy in my wallet."

Luke took out his wallet to check, and indeed saw a photo featuring three people who looked like a middle-aged couple with their daughter.

The old white man looked very much like the middle-aged man in it.

The girl, about ten years old, looked very much like Daisy.

Although she looked somewhat different grown up, her facial features were still recognizable.

"Are you really Daisy's father?"

The old white man pointing to his face, "Don't I look like it?"

The father and daughter indeed shared some resemblance, both having brown hair, "Then why didn't you contact Daisy, instead of spying on her here?"

"I just wanted to fully understand my daughter's living situation

and also investigate whether her boyfriend is reliable."

I'm sure Daisy would be ecstatic to know you're here. I'll call her now so she can take the day off."

"No, no no, don't let my visit affect Daisy's work."

"No worries, she probably misses you too."

"Stop! Don't make the call." Daisy's father sounded anxious.

Luke holding his phone, "Give me one reason."

"Actually, we, father and daughter, had a little disagreement.

It's common, right? Many fathers and daughters argue.

So, I don't want her to know I was here. As long she is doing well, that's all that matters.

Let's keep it our little secret between us two, OK?"

During the time Luke and Daisy had been together, he seldom heard her mention her family.

Plus, given her father's actions, he guessed their relationship was not very good.

Of course, whatever the nature of their relationship, it wasn't his place as an outsider to meddle.

Regarding Daisy's father, Luke still showed as much respect as possible.

He readily agreed, "No problem."

"OK, I have to leave now." The old man turned to get into his car, then remembered something, "By the way, can I have your business card?"

"Of course." Luke handed him a business card.

Luke watched him leave, then took out his phone to call Matthew, "Hello, it's Luke, I need you to check someone for me."
