NOVEL WEB Chapter 7: A Savior
"What the fuck is going on in there?" The other officer wondered as he stepped inside the room.
Seeing his partner writhing in pain he shifted his attention to Vincent.
"What did you do?!"
Vincent tried to run but a straight punch to the face sent him flying.
[Moderate pain extracted +18 points]
It was followed up by a kick to the guts making his insides scream in agony.

The first officer struggled to his feet, using the table for support. His face and body were now disfigured by the scalding oil.
"Kill that fucker!!" he barked.
He didn't need to say it — the other officer was already on top of him, hands locked around Vincent's throat. Vincent kicked and thrashed, but the man didn't budge. Those thick veiny hands crushed his windpipe, cutting off every gasp
Vincent was starting to grow pale, his eyes were slowly closing and he was quickly growing tired of struggling.
There was no strength left in him to fight, but just then someone else appeared at the front door.
He didn't say anything but his presence caused the officer to pause for a moment, leaving Vincent and standing to his feet.
Life returned into Vincent's body. He coughed and coughed, slowly regaining his composure.
"What do you want?" The officer asked.
Gutter was wearing a white button-up shirt, with the sleeves folded up and a black trouser. He took a few steps inside the house before speaking.
"I'm here for the boy," his voice was coarse and rough, carrying a chilling weight.
For the first time in his life, Vincent was happy to hear that voice.
"Well as you can see we are busy with him, so fuck off," The officer spat with anger.
Gutter slowly took off his dark shades and put it in his back pocket. He was twice the size of the officer, so he looked even more menacing with tattoos on his fully bald head.
"I'm sorry but my boss wouldn't like that,"
"I am an officer of the law and I'm telling you to fuck off!" The officer screamed, but it was easy to see that he was feeling intimidated. "If not I'll have to arrest you,"
A twisted grin appeared on Gutter's face revealing his stylish gold tooth, "You would arrest me?" He took a step forward "Well then, do your job officer,"
The officer took one involuntary step backwards. He pulled out his gun in fear, "stay back or I'm going to shoot,"
Yet Gutter continued forward, "I don't think you will,"
Soon his body was right against the gun, "so what officer aren't you going to shoot? Or are you afraid it would draw attention?"
Before he could make a move Gutter gave him a gut wrenching blow, forcing him to vomit everything he had eaten in the last few days, he then stumped on his face knocking him out immediately.
The burnt officer had seen everything that had just happened so he gritted his teeth and pulled out his gun.
"Fuck you!!!" He fired a few bullets but due to the injuries he could hardly aim.
He missed most of the shots he fired, only managing to hit Gutter in the arm. But the beast didn't even react, he charged on as if it was merely a mosquito bite. Throwing a punch that literally planted the officer's face inside a wall.
"Get up, let's go," he ordered Vincent without turning back.
Vincent didn't even question his savior, he rushed to his feet and followed after him.
But when they got outside the apartment they were met by a surprise. At least a dozen men in black, armed with daggers and machetes and from the looks of things they were not friendly.
"Follow the other stairs, I'll handle this. The boss would be waiting outside,"
"O-okay," Vincent nodded before running in the other direction.
They were on the fifth floor so he had to run down a few stairs. Before he got to the last floor he paused.
"Where am I running to?" He wondered.
There could be even more people outside waiting to harm him. He had to prepare himself and this felt like a good time to do just that.
"System, how many points do I have?"
[You have extracted 235 points, do you want to use it?]
"Yes, I need to get stronger and faster," he said eagerly. "Can you do that with 235 points?"
[I can but it would be more effective if you give specific instructions for me to follow. That way you can accurately change whatever you want to change.]
"Okay,"
Vincent immediately began considering the best way to use the points he had gathered.
"I want to put 100 points in strength and 100 points in agility,"
As he spoke he wondered what that meant. How was the system going to do it, would it make him larger like Gutter or….
[Sure thing]
Almost immediately Vincent could feel his body get lighter, just that alone was enough to convince him that it had worked.
There was no physical change to his appearance. He still remained like his usual self, an average 25 year old with a lazy build. The manual labour everyday had kept him roughly in shape but it wasn't anything to brag about. Even still he could feel a new strength coursing through his muscles.
"If I make it out of here, I'll visit the gym to check how much stronger I've gotten," he mused as he stared at his hand.
There were three guys standing at the exit, they were dressed in black just like the other attackers that had accompanied the police officers but they were frail looking, like they were at the bottom of the pile and that was why they were told to stay there and watch the exit.
'They probably have no idea who I am but I kinda wish they did'
Vincent wasn't looking for a fight but at the same he was looking to compare his new found strength against someone. Just putting a few points in regeneration and endurance made him a walking miracle so it was really tempting to see what 200 points in strength and agility could do.
But he knew better than to jump into a fight with hardened gangsters.
'If I just walk casually maybe I can make it out without them suspecting me'
But it seemed like the gangsters were not going to let him through that easily.
"Hey, who the hell are you?"
