Lord of Eternity [Fantasy Thriller Adventure Novel]

Chapter 5: CHAPTER 5 . "Power and confusion."

In the forest, a gentle breeze swept through, gradually dispelling the lingering scent of blood from the battle.

Chuyang stood still, his hands trembling slightly.

He looked down at his fists, still stained with the blood of the Scale Wolves, his skin faintly glowing.

The immense power seemed to still surge within his veins, yet his heart was filled with conflicting emotions.

"Can these hands really do such things?"

He raised his hands, a momentary look of confusion flickering in his eyes.

He had once been an ordinary man, and now, here he was, effortlessly tearing apart a wild beast. This power was both unfamiliar and unsettling.

At that moment, he heard the soft sound of footsteps.

He quickly spun around, his body instinctively tensing, like a cornered leopard.

His eyes narrowed, sharply focusing ahead, his fists creaking as they clenched.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the dense forest, casting a beam on a slender figure slowly emerging.

Chuyang's gaze landed on the newcomer, and for a moment, he was struck silent.

It was a woman, dressed in a pale green gown, her light veil floating like clouds, accentuating her graceful figure.

Her features were exquisite, her skin like ice and snow, with an air of noble coldness in her eyes.

Her long hair fluttered in the wind, as graceful as the light of dawn.

A pair of glass-like eyes quietly gazed at Chuyang, as though seeing through him entirely.

Chuyang snapped out of his trance, tightening his senses, and asked in a low voice, "Who are you? Why are you here?"

The woman did not answer immediately, instead quietly examining him.

Her gaze swept over his handsome yet somewhat fatigued face, then lingered on his trembling fists.

Though her expression remained unchanged, a ripple stirred within her heart.

"An interesting person..."

She thought to herself, "He carries an aura I cannot ignore. Could he be from the Celestial Realm? This face is quite pleasing, yet I can't detect a trace of a celestial being's presence."

Her voice was cool and soft, like a stream flowing gently into Chuyang's ears, "Your power is still insufficient, but... your attire is rather strange."

"What?"

Chuyang furrowed his brow, his fists tightening slightly as he glanced down at his delivery uniform, letting out a quiet chuckle.

He had no idea who this woman was, but her calm demeanor and words unsettled him.

The woman's gaze fell on the scattered corpses of the Scale Wolves behind him, a faint smile curling at the corner of her lips, "The battle earlier, though barely enough, was just enough to keep you alive."

Chuyang let out a cold laugh, suppressing the doubts in his mind, "Stop beating around the bush. Who exactly are you? Why are you following me?"

The woman turned away, her eyes glimmering as she spoke with a slight, enigmatic smile, "I was just passing by. As for you, perhaps you should be more concerned about your situation."

No sooner had she finished speaking than a low growl came from behind.

Chuyang swiftly turned around, his body coiling like a spring, ready to strike.

A massive black-armored wild boar burst through the underbrush, its tusks gleaming with a cold light, its eyes glowing red with fury as it glared at him.

"Still haunting me, huh?"

Chuyang cursed under his breath, the unfamiliar power within him surging again.

He didn't hesitate. Instead, he stepped forward, his eyes sharp as a blade, fixated on the boar's every move.

The boar bellowed, its hooves pounding the ground like an out-of-control war machine charging straight for Chuyang.

With a sharp command, Chuyang struck out with a punch, the air rippling with the sound of an explosion.

His fist collided violently with the boar's tusks, sending shockwaves that trembled through the ground.

Chuyang felt his arm tingle, but the boar was sent stumbling back by the force, its growls growing more frantic.

Throwing aside his cracked helmet, Chuyang glared at the beast, his voice low and commanding, "Come again!"

Then, with a burst of speed, Chuyang lunged forward. He feinted with his left fist before launching a thunderous blow with his right fist toward the boar's head.

His movements were swift and decisive, not a moment wasted.

The boar, undeterred, raised its front hooves, attempting to knock Chuyang away.

But Chuyang, like a wraith, dodged the attack and quickly closed in again, striking at the boar's neck.

Fists and hooves collided in a fierce clash, the air crackling with energy.

With each impact, the force was so immense that the surrounding leaves trembled in its wake.

The woman, standing aside, watched silently, a faint smile gracing her lips.

Her gaze lingered on Chuyang, her expression subtly shifting, revealing a trace of admiration.

"This guy... his strength is truly impressive, and his techniques are sharp."

She evaluated him quietly, her eyes flickering with a hint of softness.

Chuyang seized the opening the boar left exposed. After evading a heavy charge, he gathered all his strength into a single punch, and with a low shout, struck the boar's skull.

The punch was like thunder, shattering the boar's neck.

The beast's massive body quivered once before crashing to the ground, never to rise again.

Chuyang stood upright, his arm sore from the strain, and took a deep breath, gazing down at his clenched fist with a mix of complex emotions.

"Where is this power coming from? And why do I possess it?" he wondered, a whirlpool of shock, pride, and an unnamed fear swirling within him, leaving him uncertain of his future.

The woman slowly approached, her expression still impassive, her gaze as profound as ever, as if she saw through everything. "Not bad, but your power is still far from enough."

Her voice was soft but carried an invisible pressure, without a hint of emotion.

Chuyang frowned slightly, still gripping his fist, as if trying to extract some meaning from her words.

He knew this woman was no ordinary being—her demeanor and actions exuded a cold, noble aura, unlike anything he had encountered before.

"What exactly are you trying to say?"

Unable to contain his confusion, Chuyang asked in a low voice, his tone laced with caution.

The woman did not answer directly. Instead, she turned and began to walk deeper into the forest.

Her silhouette, bathed in sunlight, appeared ethereal, almost as if she were a part of the very forest itself.

She stopped and, with a faint voice, said, "Staying here will only bring more trouble. Come with me, and perhaps you'll find the answers you seek."

Chuyang watched her retreating figure, waves of uncertainty stirring in his heart.

Though confusion filled his mind, he understood that this mysterious woman seemed to hold secrets he had yet to grasp.

If he didn't follow, the trouble she spoke of might indeed come crashing down upon him.

With a deep breath, Chuyang took the first step, following her into the dense forest.

The two figures, one in front and one behind, disappeared into the wilderness, the sunlight filtering through the branches, casting specks of light that seemed to herald a journey full of unknowns and challenges yet to come.
