Chapter 15: 16

Maybe it was the constant working and lack of rest, perhaps it was even the crying, but when Daniel woke up the next day he had never felt more exhausted in his life. Yes, there were moments when he'd wake up after a night of training with Gun where he's been sore, but nothing compared to the emptiness he felt currently.

Dragging himself out of bed, the Doctor attempts to fulfil his morning routine to the best of his abilities. Yet once he's finished brushing his teeth, dressing and eating a pitiful breakfast when he turns to the paperwork he couldn't help but shake his head.

There was no way in hell Daniel was going to be productive so he decided to do the one activity that he knows will clear his mind. He goes on a run.

It's still early Saturday morning, loads of people were out and about, either they were also on a run or spending time in the fresh morning air.

After months of taking the same route, Daniel could comfortably say that he knows the area around the CC pretty well. So he doesn't pay much attention to the path or the different turns he takes, instead, he focuses on his breathing, on his movements and ultimately on clearing his head. It helped that the weather was kind in Seoul that day

There were a couple of moments during the run when people would smile and greet him, people who were either familiar with him due to constantly seeing him during his runs or they were familiar with him through the CC. Despite being known as the 'Miracle Doctor' people didn't really approach him, either it was because he was a busy person or because he looked serious, Daniel doesn't know.

There were the occasional moments when someone was brave enough to approach him to ask for a photo and Daniel would kindly turn them down. It wasn't that he didn't want to take the photos, it just felt like he was being a fraud. These people believed him to be some god-worthy Doctor when in reality it was for the most part a scam. At least that's how Daniel felt.

Luckily the people who have declined the photo opportunity have taken it with stride and are satisfied with the small conversations that Daniel offers in his stead.

It's been an hour and Daniel finally allows his body to come to a stop, feeling the burn in his muscles and chest as he winds down into a walk. He observes his surroundings and notices a park as well as a public drinking tap. The sight of the tap urges his body to feel the dryness in his throat so he indulges himself.

Letting out a sigh he slumps down on the bench, catching his breath and wiping the sweat off his forehead.

He was tired. Really, really, really tired. Not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. Yet soaking in the quietness around him, the smooth air and the warm sunlight, the soft chirping of birds and the rustling of trees due to the wind. It was calm. It was peace.

"HEY DOC!"

Until it wasn't.

Letting out a startled gasp, Daniel jumped up from the seat at the loud voice that sounded from right next to his ear. Turning around wildly his eyes land on the amused grin on the gang leader's face.

"Jesus Christ, what the hell is wrong with you?!" Daniel blurts out much to the other man's enjoyment.

"I prefer the name Olly Wang" Olly replies cheekily before climbing over the bench to situate himself next to the Doctor. "But hey Doc, it's been a short while! How have you been?" He greets a little more normally and Daniel's initial spark of anger and annoyance dies down.

"It's been fine, and yes it really has been a while. What have you been up to? How are you feeling?" Daniel asks as he sits back down next to the man.

"Nothing much, just taking the time to rest which is a little ironic since I had only just gotten out of a 6 month suspension where I did nothing but rest and train. I've been well though" Olly answers before his smile falters. "What about you?" He shoots back, humour and light-heartedness fading almost immediately.

"You already asked me how I've been," Daniel frowns.

"Yeah but you didn't answer truthfully, so how have you really been Doc? Because you look like horseshit" Olly remarks crudely.

"Do I?" Daniel touches his face. "I think it's because I didn't sleep all that well last night" He mumbles.

"Was it because you cried yourself to sleep?" Olly questions bluntly and Daniel feels his face heat up.

"Excuse me?!" Daniel squeaks but seeing Olly's knowing face there could only be one answer. "You saw me last night" He concludes and the gang leader nods.

"I was checking out the cafeteria last night with the uncles when I saw you come in. I was going to say high but you looked sick. Also, you looked like you didn't want to be bothered so I didn't say anything. Then you started crying, right then and there in the mess hall with only your nurse friend there to notice and I just thought there was something severely wrong" Olly's tone lowered after a moment. "Who hurt you? The Doctor I know is strong so whoever made you cry must have done some stupid shit. You say the word and I'll make sure they'll never see the light of day ever again" He speaks with such honesty that it scares Daniel.

"Olly you don't need to do that, in fact, please don't hurt anyone" Daniel responds and the Hostel daddy merely huffs in disappointment.

"Fine but you still didn't say who" He crosses his arms and Daniel frowns before looking to the floor, kicking his feet into the path.

"Honestly Olly it's nothing serious, I'm just being stupid, I'll get over these feelings soon" Daniel states and Olly clicks his finger.

"So this is a problem with the heart" He grins once he notices Daniel's slip up. "Also don't call your feelings stupid. Your emotions are valid, just as you listened to me for days on end I'm here to listen to you. You always seem to find the time to take care of others but who's left to take care of you?" For someone who was known as crazy and chaotic, Olly was oddly wise.

Whilst Olly was correct, Daniel still felt reluctant to answer so the other took it upon himself to guess.

"Well, clearly it's nothing to do with your medical team. None of the volunteers or even that nurse struck me as people who could hurt you to the point of tears. I also don't think it's family related so does it have to do with…Gun?"

Daniel tries to control his facial reactions to the name but something must have given it away.

"Ah, so it is about that stupid Founder" Olly hums. "Don't even try to lie your way out of this, I've seen the way you both look and interact with each other. There's totally something going on" He adds before Daniel could deny the accusations.

Olly stares straight into Daniel's soul and the Doctor stares back, attempting not to break. Yet with the wordless exchange, Daniel breaks.

"Ok fine, you got me" He sighs before proceeding to tell Olly about everything that had happened since he started working at the CC.

Olly was kind enough to listen without speaking, just soaking in the information without reacting to any of the misdeeds that the Doctor had been committing with his employer. Since Olly was being such a good sport and Daniel needed to rant, he confessed every single detail which ranged from the sexual relations he had with Gun to the crush as well as the feelings of jealousy.

"So that's it" Daniel finishes off, waiting for Olly to react or say something.

Olly sits there silently, brows furrowed as he attempts to think over what he has heard.

"Let's go eat lunch, I don't think I can come up with something smart to say if I don't have food in my stomach" Olly concludes much to Daniel's bewilderment.

That was how the two ended up at a small restaurant.

"You know Doc, I never expected you to be in such a scandalous situation" Olly begins as Daniel shovels rice into his mouth, cheeks burning at the admonition.

"Well, what exactly did you expect?" He retorts, his mouth still full.

"I thought that you and Gun were dancing around each other, playing the flirting game or some shit. I didn't know the two of you had already taken it that far. I can't imagine you having sex" Olly mumbles as Daniel kicks his leg from under the table. "Jokes on you, I didn't feel the pain" The gang leader gripes as the other male slumps back in his seat.

"I'm not some benevolent saint," Daniel grumbles under his breath.

"Clearly" Olly snorts before pointing at the other with his spoon. "But I thought you were smarter than to start a friends-with-benefits situation. You know those sorts of relationships never work out" He sighs in disappointment as Daniel sulks.

"I know" He sighs forlornly.

Olly takes in the depressing sight before letting out a snort.

"Although I don't know why you're so upset. Gun clearly favours you as both a student and a partner. Not only is he nice to you but he clearly feels something more for you" Olly summarises and Daniel raises a brow.

"You didn't see the way he and Crystal were interacting with each other. They were clearly smitten! And the way she was holding onto his arm and he didn't care in the slightest. Furthermore, they looked so good together, how the hell am I supposed to compete with the daughter of a conglomerate? She's rich, nice, absolutely beautiful and probably smart too" He groans when Olly kicks him. Only out of the two of them, it was Daniel who could feel the pain.

"Ow" "Ok so yeah she's got all these perks but you're selling yourself short, Doc" Olly frowns.

"Am I though?"

"Yes, You're the kindest and most selfless person I know, Daniel Park. There are not many people in this world that would take care of a person like me but you were able to deal with my condition, my constant ranting and talking for days on end and you saved me. Furthermore, you're super intelligent, the youngest Doctor in Korea and for good reason. Most people your age haven't even finished school yet you're already out in the world making a name for yourself" Olly compliments, catching Daniel by surprise.

"Olly, it's not that big of a deal-" "Yes it is! It's totally a big deal! Yet you're so humble about it! Moreover, you might not be daddy's money rich but you're still probably making a hell of a lot more money than most people. And God do you even know how gorgeous you are?" It was a rhetorical question but even then it makes Daniel burn in embarrassment.

"I'm just an ordinary-looking guy" Daniel answers honestly.

"You're frustrating to deal with, you know that?" Olly snorts, shaking his head in disbelief. "You don't even notice the amount of men and women that love to stare at you, do you? Hell if you gave me a chance I'd totally go out with you so stop pretending that you're some Y/N character from a Wattpad fanfic" He adds before laughing at Daniel's shocked face.

"Are you going anywhere with all this?" Daniel questions and Olly nods.

"My point is that you're an amazing person and Gun would be a fool to not know this. He'd the the biggest fucking idiot in the world if he rejects you and in all honesty, I don't think he will reject you. You totally have him hooked, all you need to do is make him realise that you're the only person in this world that he wants" Olly answers and Daniel tilts his head in confusion.

"How exactly do I do that?"

"Make the fucker jealous" At the mention of this Olly starts crackling manically, even other customers that were nearby turned to look at the eccentric gang leader. "Since you're not exclusive to each other and he's apparently been spending time with other people then it would be fine for you to do the same. Flirt around with other guys, and show interest in them. You don't have to take it far, just enough for Gun to notice that you've been paying less attention to him" Olly explains.

"That sounds manipulative and stupid" Daniel disapproved of the idea.

"Men are simple creatures and this will a hundred per cent work. I mean, you got jealous just by seeing a hot babe hang off his arm" He points out and Daniel slumps in defeat.

"I'll think it over," Daniel replies.

.

.

.

It's been several days since his talk with Olly. Several depressing days. Days that Daniel spent sulking around in his office doing nothing more than paperwork and staring at a wall as he tried to reassure himself that everything was fine. What made matters worse was the fact that Gun himself had to call off training for the week. Apparently, work with Crystal was taking priority.

He was choosing Crystal over Daniel.

It was an unfair thought. Gun was choosing his job and career over mucking around in the gym with Daniel.

Still, the moment that Daniel started drawing little doodles of Gun on his papers he decided then and there he had spent too much time moping about the Founder and needed to get out. So he does the one thing that comes to his mind. He goes to a bar. Not just any bar though.

Lounge Gracias.

Daniel was dressed nicely enough for the abrupt occasion yet as he walked into the establishment he still felt like he didn't fit in. Perhaps he shouldn't have gone alone, maybe he should have invited Olly or one of his Jae Won High friends.

Sucking in a deep breath he doesn't turn back.

The place itself was nice, it had a modern aesthetic to it rather than your typical bar. The people inside were also kind of classy and the soft music that played in the background wasn't too overpowering. If anything it sets a gentle and soft atmosphere.

Heading to the bar, he looks around at the employees, attempting to catch sight of one person in particular.

"Hello sir, what can I get for you tonight?" The bartender greets and Daniel smiles.

"I'll just get some water for now" He replies and the bartender raises a brow at the request. Not many people go to bars all by themselves just to order water, but Daniel wasn't here to get drunk.

"Are you sure you wouldn't like something else? Maybe something alcoholic?" The bartender encourages.

"I'm a lightweight" Daniel tries to dissuade.

"A lightweight or because you're still underage?" A voice calls and Daniel turns to see Jacky and Channing come into view.

"Hey Doc, what brings you here!" Jacky grins as he hops over, looping an arm around the man as Channing watches him with a calculated look.

"Well I thought I'd swing by since Hudson was so persistent in having me come see your bar" Daniel replies good-naturedly. He wanted the two to know that he was visiting on friendly terms.

"Ooh, the boss will be excited to see you" Jacky grins.

"Will he though?" Channing questions, still unsure.

"Will I be excited about what?" Hudson's voice sounds through the room and heads turn to see the blonde. The leader of Public was sceptical about what his two friends were talking about but upon seeing the familiar pretty face between them he lightened up.

"Daniel" He breathes, his lips breaking out into a pleasant smile.

Jacky and Channing turn to look at each other before a knowing look crosses both their faces.

"We're just gonna…go over there," Channing remarks as he drags Jacky away before the shorter one can protest. Hudson doesn't notice, if anything he slides into the seat right next to Daniel with finesse.

"I thought you said that you wouldn't be coming by" Hudson remarks and Daniel shrugs.

"I said no to the date but I also said that I might change my mind about visiting" Daniel responds and the taller male just smiles before noticing the water.

"Are you drinking water in my bar?" He asks and before Daniel could even reply the blonde was calling the bartender back. "He'll have a cosmopolitan" He gestures.

"I can't really hold my liquor, and besides I shouldn't be drinking" Daniel hisses but the blonde pays it no heed.

"I'm not going to have you sit around in my bar without a proper drink, it'll be on me today so don't fuss. Besides, I'll take care of you if you get too drunk" Hudson offers.

"How am I supposed to get to know you if I start slurring my words and fall unconscious" Daniel pouts much to Hudson's amusement.

"One drink" Hudson promises and Daniel sighs before nodding.

The fruity, red drink was placed in front of Daniel and he took a sip. It was surprisingly good.

"It's nice" Daniel tells as much and Hudson nods as he orders himself a coke and rum.

"So what compelled you to change your mind about visiting me? Surely it wasn't just the sudden change in heart" Hudson inquires and Daniel shrugs.

"I needed to get out of the CC building, I've been in there for way too long and as I was trying to determine where to go I realised I didn't know many places. Then I remembered that I memorised your business card and thought 'Why the hell not' and here I am" Daniel explains as Hudson chuckles.

"Didn't know you stared at my business card enough during the time you had it to memorise the details" Hudson teases as he drinks his own beverage.

"I have a perfect photographic memory" Daniel shoots down and the cocky smile on the older man's face falls.

"Oh"

It was such a defeated sound that it caused Daniel to break immediately.

"I'm just kidding, I don't have a photographic memory" Daniel hides his smile and laughs behind his hand. Hudson pouts before frowning and reaching out to lower the hand.

"Don't hide your smile and laugh. If you're going to laugh at my expense at least allow me the dignity of seeing such a pretty face" Hudson muses and Daniel falters, instead choking on his laugh at the words he hears.

"E-excuse me?" He squeaks when a hand reaches out to hold his chin, turning Daniel to look right into Hudson's gaze.

"Then again, everything you do and every expression you make is adorable" Hudson hums, it was quiet enough for Daniel to think that maybe the blonde was whispering it to himself rather than telling the Doctor.

Hudson withdraws the hand and it leaves Daniel fumbling. Reaching up he tucked his hair behind his ear, feeling the heat it was giving off before turning back to take a large gulp of his drink.

"How about you give me a tour of the place?" Daniel insists as he finishes his drink.

Hudson follows suit before standing up.

"Sure"

The bar was very nice, it wasn't so luxurious that it was a high-end bar but it was far more flattering than the usual kind. The staff were also just as nice, greeting the leader and in turn saying hello to Daniel when Hudson introduced him. Apart from the main area and the back, there were a couple of other rooms ranging from an office as well as two private rooms.

To allow for discreet meetings to take place. At least that was how Hudson explained it. The tour doesn't take long and eventually, he's back at the barstool but this time with Hudson pressed up against him. His thick thighs smoothed out against Daniel's own, their shoulders lightly touching and the two laughing and talking about anything and everything.

Daniel asks about how inner Seoul was treating the other if he missed Ansan and how the bar was going. Hudson replies easily enough before asking how the CC had been and whether being a Doctor was tiring. Daniel replies in earnest.

Their exchanges and communications weren't done in private, Channing and Jacky sat from across the bar pretending to talk to one another when their eyes were only trained on their leader. Furthermore, there were the customers and employees who watched the two with curious gazes, questioning how Daniel was so close to their boss or trying to decipher whether the two handsome men were single.

Against his better judgment, Daniel orders another drink and then another. By his third drink, he's feeling slightly warmer but much better than how he was feeling earlier in the week. With Hudson, sitting in the bar with no worries, Daniel felt calm. He was enjoying himself.

Hudson says something and Daniel can barely hear what he says but it still causes him to giggle. It might have not even been funny but he still doubles over and leans into Hudson's side, tucking his face into the larger man's shoulder as he laughs. He pulls back and all he sees is the blurry expression of endearment on Hudson's handsome face. He really was a handsome man and he was showering Daniel in so much attention.

Hudson feels something change as he stares into Daniel's eyes. Following instinct he leans down, intent in grazing his lips against the younger when a voice intercepts them.

"Um Hyung, he's here" A voice chirps out and Hudson turns to see Jacky with a serious look on his face.

"Huh?" Hudson asks, annoyed that he was cockblocked.

"You forgot that he was coming down here didn't you…you arranged for this meeting like a week ago" Jacky sighs and Hudson realises who his friend was talking about.

"Oh, right" He sits up straighter, eyes flickering from Jacky to Daniel who had tilted his head cutely to the side. "Daniel, is it alright if I leave you alone for the moment? I need to go see someone important but once I'm done I promise I'll come back" He tells the other.

Daniel nods.

"It's alright" He breathes before standing up and stumbling slightly.

Hudson immediately holds his hands out, worried that others will fall.

"I need to use the bathroom" He announces and Hudson nods.

"Do you remember where it is?" and at Daniel's insistent nodding he was allowed to stagger his way to the restroom.

It felt like an eternity before he made it but once he does he's relieved to be able to do his business. Once done he washed his hands at the sink when the first wave of nausea hit him. Letting out a groan he braces himself, clenching his eyes shut to try and stop the world from spinning.

"Shit" He curses. He didn't feel so good, maybe he had drank too much or perhaps it was too many drinks too fast.

No matter the cause he didn't feel like he could move because if he did then he was definitely going to throw up. Patting his pockets down before he pulled his phone out, it was difficult to scan through the list of names in his contacts.

Park…Park, why was P so far down in the alphabet?

He needed to call his uncle to pick him up. Uncle Jinyoung would know how to make him feel better. He was the best Doctor in the world! If he couldn't then there was no hope. Finally, he reached P and soon he was searching for J.

He clicks on a name. Park J-his brain was too intoxicated to process the rest.

He dials the number and soon the call is going through. It takes a few rings and a few desperate pleas in Daniel's mind before the call finally connects after what feels like an eternity.

"You better have a good reason for calling me" Typical Uncle Jinyoung.

"Uncle" Daniel whines out desperately. "Uncle please can you come pick me up, I don't feel so good" He calls.

There was a pause.

"Hah?"

That wasn't a good enough response. Moreover, it sounded as if his uncle was offended by his words...did he do or say something to offend the man?

"Uncle I know you're busy and I would never call just to disturb you but I feel so sick" He knows his uncle won't appreciate the tone he was using but he needs to leave. He wanted to go home and sleep but he didn't know if he could walk back to the CC. "Please, pretty please" He begs.

There was another pause.

"Where are you right now?"

"I'm in a bar in Gangbuk, I think it's called Lounge Gracias, I don't remember" He attempts to remember.

"What the hell are you doing at a bar?" His uncle questions before letting out an aggravated breath. Oh no, he made his uncle mad.

"I'm sorry" Daniel starts crying much to his own horror. "I'm sorry for being such a bother but I want to go home. Please, I've had a shitty week and I'm so tired of thinking. Please come pick me up" He pleads through his heaving breath.

"Oi, oi, calm down. I'll come get you so just stay where you are."

"Y-You will? T-thank you uncle-" Before he could even finish the sentence he could feel the bile rising. Dropping the phone he lunges for a cubicle before he empties out his stomach. It's a loud and unflattering affair. He doesn't know how long he spends with his head in the toilet but once he finishes he lets out a pitiful groan and he registers he's not alone.

"This is a sad sight," A voice he had never heard before says.

Struggling to turn around he catches sight of a man. A very large man. Shaggy hair, a scruffy beard dressed in a long coat. What caught the Doctor's eyes though was the scar on the right side of the man's face, encompassing the entirety of the eye.

Daniel whimpers and the man turns around to do his business. He watches, he doesn't see anything explicit due to the coat and angle but he watches. The man finishes and washes his hand before stooping down to pick something up.

"Is this your phone?" He asks and Daniel nods absently. "Can you speak?" He questions a little more firmly.

"Y-yes" He whimpers as he tries to sit upright but fails.

Shame and embarrassment fuel the next influx of tears. He doesn't sob this time, he just cries silently. There was a sigh before the man walked over to him and offered Daniel a hand.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up and you can go out and grab a drink" The man offers and before Daniel can start sobbing out that he doesn't want any more alcohol he clarifies. "Water, a drink of water" and instead Daniel cries at the genuine kindness.

"S-sir" His lips tremble. He was touched, so touched that he wasn't laughing or leaving him. He accepts the hand and with more effort on the man's end, he lifts Daniel up and holds him by the waist. He helps clean Daniel's face by the sink, washing the tears, snot and vomit away before he hoists him out of the bathroom.

Daniel's entire body weight was on the man, even his head had dropped onto the man's thickly corded shoulders. By the time they enter the light of the bar, he's calmed himself.

"Hudson, I thought you said this establishment you built was higher end. Why the hell is there a drunkard sobbing and throwing up in the bathroom?" The man calls and due to Daniel's closeness he could feel the vibrato of the deep, rustic voice.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Hudson's confused face comes into view and his eyes widen in horror at the sight of Daniel.

"Daniel!" Hudson shouts, rushing across the room to get to the Doctor. Seeing the familiar face, Daniel wanted to hide his face in shame so he did. Tucking it into the larger man's shoulder he felt his whole body grow hot.

The older man grunts at the wet feeling of tears against him but doesn't push the younger one away.

"Daniel, what's wrong? Are you hurt? Did you fall? I knew I shouldn't have let you go to the bathroom by yourself" The blonde fusses.

"I'm sorry, I threw up in the bathroom. All the alcohol you paid for went to waste" He tells the other regretfully, clutching onto the unknown man's shirt.

"It's okay, I'm sorry I made you drink even though you told me several times you didn't do well with alcohol. Don't cry" Hudson coos, trying to get the other to look at him. "Let's go to the private room, come on. You can calm down in there"

And thus that was how Daniel ended up in the private room, sipping a cold glass of water that Channing had brought him. He, along with Jacky, was bewildered by the change of personality from the Doctor. One moment he was happy and giggling and the next he was quiet and reserved. Daniel was still holding onto the unnamed man like a baby koala hugging a tree, he didn't know why he didn't let go but he also didn't know why the man was letting it happen. It just felt so warm and safe to be in the larger man's arms, he couldn't help but start feeling drowsy and sleeping.

Hudson could only sit alongside them on the couch, giving the two confused glances.

"Isn't he the guy you fought and lost to? Why is he here in your bar?" The man asks and Daniel's lips tremble again at the memories of the fight.

"We called a truce" Hudson was quick to jump in, noticing that if he didn't then the younger was most definitely going to start bawling again. "That fight occurred because we needed to set some things right. Daniel here punched some sense into me. Afterwards, I invited him to swing by the bar to hang out" He justifies, warmly smiling at the Doctor.

The man didn't look satisfied with the answer but he didn't question it.

"Are you even old enough to be drinking?" The man instead asks, tilting his head down to address Daniel who had his head still pressed onto his shoulder and was enjoying the heat that was radiating from the man's body and in return he shakes his head. At the answer, the older man shoots Hudson a disapproving look.

"Teacher, it was my own irresponsibility that led to this" Hudson acknowledges and the man grunts before calling for Channing to fetch him a drink.

"I didn't come all the way from here from the sanctuary of my forest just to get hugged by the person that defeated you in combat. We have much to discuss about your business so we might as well start talking" The man sighs.

There was no way that anyone would be able to drag Daniel away from his position, not if he wanted him to start sobbing again. So giving into his fate as a pillow, both men start talking. Not that Daniel is paying any attention.

At this point, his nausea and sickness had subsided and in its place emerged the same tiredness he had been feeling all week. His eyelids were growing heavy and so were his limbs as he slumped further and further into the man's side. From time to time when Daniel wasn't trying to succumb to sleep he would hear the occasional word muttered from the two men. At one point Daniel was even sure that Hudson had called the man 'Taesoo Ma' which he would store in his memory for later.

He didn't even realise he had fallen asleep until he was startled awake by the sound of doors being flung open.

"Where is he?" It wasn't an exclamation but the tone the voice used was authoritative and serious.

"You do realise that it doesn't matter who you are, you don't have the privilege to come barging into meetings unannounced making demands and requests" Hudson glowers at the person who interrupted.

"Do I look like I give any fucks about whatever meeting you're in? Where is he?" This time the voice was much more demanding. "I know he's here" He hisses.

Daniel, who couldn't see the person as he was lying down on Taesoo's lap at this point, recognised the voice. How could he not? Struggling to sit up he shrugs off the warm, thick hands that had been carding through his hair to make eye contact with a furious Gun. The Founder himself starts back with an open mouth.

"Gun" Daniel croaks out, his voice rough as he greets the other. "What are you…" His voice dies out as the Founder approaches him. Other people in the room tense at the movement, Hudson and Taesoo go rigid with expectations of a fight but instead, they are greeted with the sight of Gun kneeling down beside the Doctor.

A hand reaches out, cupping the sleepy Doctor under the jaw and silently Gun inspects the younger man's features. He assesses for injuries but all he sees is exhaustion.

"Hey" Gun grunts, if Daniel were a little more aware and conscious he'd recognise that the other was actively trying to be softer. "You said you were feeling sick and that you wanted to go home" He states.

Daniel frowns, trying to rack his brain and remember when he had called Gun. The only person he had called was his uncle…unless. Oh no. Why the hell did Park Jinyoung and Park Jonggun have to be so close together in his contacts?

"Daniel" Gun calls and Daniel's eyes snap back to Gun. "Let's go home" The elder urges and Daniel nods.

Barely even a moment after Daniel's acceptance, Gun is lifting him up, his arms hooked under his knees and arms effortlessly.

"You can't just take him! What if you do something questionable!" Hudson accuses and Daniel could feel the glare radiating off Gun without even having to say it.

"Daniel, do you want to stay with Public or do you want to come with me?" Gun asks again, loud and clear. Daniel doesn't verbally respond, only tightening his arms around the elder's neck before pressing his face into the crook of his shoulders.

There was a moment of silence, perhaps a stare down between Gun and Public but not long after he could feel the Founder moving. It's not until they're out of the club that Daniel falls asleep again.

.

.

.

When Daniel wakes up it's to a pounding headache and an arm wrapped around his waist. He was confused by the hand but what he knew for sure was the fact that he was going to throw up. Shoving the blankets and arm off him he runs for the bathroom and barely makes it in time.

Throwing up in the morning doesn't take any longer than the last time he had his head in a toilet but it doesn't make it easier. With the bile comes the stomach acid and once his stomach calms down and stops trying to make its way up Daniel's throat he slumps against the cold tile floors. It takes a moment for Daniel to collect himself, stand up without wavering and wash his face before he moves back into his room.

In that time span, Gun had woken up, whether it was from the harsh movements or the sounds of retching, he'd sat up on the bed with his feet on the floor, waiting patiently for the younger man to come back out.

"How are you feeling?" Gun asks and Daniel groans before throwing himself back onto his bed.

"Like shit" Daniel replies easily enough.

There's a huff from Gun, one that he probably thinks is suitable for the moment. The conversation dies and it takes Gun standing up from the bed, collecting his coat and pants from the floor for Daniel to have a revelation.

"Did we do it last night?" He blurts out, suddenly embarrassed by the question he rolls onto his side to tug the blankets up to his face, he peers at Gun from over them.

"No, we didn't. I don't fuck people when they're black-out drunk" Gun answers honestly as he pulls the pants on over his boxers.

"Oh" Daniel replies and he doesn't know if he feels disappointed or grateful. They haven't done anything remotely sexual since the night Daniel had his fight with Hudson. He was happy for a couple of days when his body was allowed to heal but after that, it was as if they had barely spent time together.

Silence again. Daniel only stares at Gun's bare yet scarred back as he fusses around the room. Eventually, the staring must have been too much as Gun pauses.

"Why did you go to that bar?" He asks, the words laxed of any tones that might have signalled he was interested in the reason. "On the phone, you said you were tired…that you were tired of thinking" Gun adds and Daniel can barely remember the phone call at all.

"I wanted a break" Daniel shrugs and it was true. He wanted a break from work, from the CC and from Gun.

"So you, an underaged person, went to a bar to drink your sorrows away?" Gun scoffs and Daniel rolls his eyes.

"As if you weren't drinking when you were my age" Daniel retorts and that makes Gun frown.

"If you're having problems at the CC then you should come to me or to see even James or Goo. Don't put yourself in an irresponsible position like that again" Gun remarks and the statement catches Daniel off guard.

"You care about me?" Daniel smiles softly.

"You could have gotten hurt" Gun brushes the statement aside. "Seeing you all cozied up with someone that you've been in a fight with and barely know…it doesn't sit well especially with that first-generation king there petting you like a cat. Whether or not they are your friends they're still men, be more vigilant in your safety" He calls and Daniel falls silent.

Gun's words were true and they were spoken out of care.

"Try not to get drunk like that again, seeing you pressed up against slimy men without any reservations was hard to watch" He warns and Daniel doesn't say anything to that.

As Gun finishes dressing and heads to the door he pauses before pulling it open.

"Oh, and you're on a mandatory break for the rest of the week. No work, leave it to the nurse and volunteers this weekend. Don't even think about arguing back with me" The protest dies on Daniel's lips before he can even get it out. With a satisfied hum, Gun opens the door and leaves without another word.

There were three things that Daniel could conclude from that conversation. The first was that being hung over sucked ass, and the second being that Gun was most definitely feeling jealous that the Doctor had been hanging off someone else's arm. So Olly's words did have some merit… and the third…

He didn't wake up alone.

Gun had been quick to notify and implement Daniel's temporary break across the CC. When he had tried finishing off paperwork Goo would swing by and take Daniel out to eat or to go shopping. When he hid in the confines of his room he'd receive an ominous text message from James telling him to rest. It made him slightly paranoid that the redhead either had cameras around his room or was watching him through his phone.

When Friday came around and he attempted to walk into the medical set up he was quickly barred entrance by none other than Jay and Mira. Both had their arms crossed. They both sent him on his merry way with his tail between his legs no matter how hard he tried to convince them to let him in.

With nowhere else to go he heads to a place he had only seen from afar—the fighter's floor.

Finding the entrance to the top floor was harder than the process of getting in. The moment the security guards noticed him coming they were quick to open the doors and allow him in. By that point, he was late to watch the first fight which began over ten minutes ago.

The plethora of gangs were intent on watching the proceedings no matter who was in the ring. They observed, cheered and clapped accordingly unlike the lower crowds. Surprisingly it was more civil.

Searching for a free seat he noticed there were a few options. Big Deal being the biggest crew and in the heart of the seats sat both Jake and Samuel, flanked by their men. Even Lineman was present with Lua by his side. The group looked serious as they watched the match.

A little further away sat Johan with his own crew of God Dogs. They also seemed to watch the matches without much fuss, the only difference between them and Big Deal was the side glances at their leader. There was an atmosphere between them that Daniel couldn't quite place, it was as if there was a barrier within the hierarchy. No matter what it was, Daniel didn't want to intervene.

Both Hostel's were sat together, the groups were much more talkative and friendly looking. Even their leaders weren't tense. Olly and Eli sat next to each other but maintained a fine distance, the former was conversing with Sally whereas the latter was pointing something out to Warren. Even the uncles were happily laughing with one another. Despite the air of peace, Daniel still didn't want to step foot into the area and ruin it. He may have solved their relationship but he didn't want to further overstep.

Workers were obviously a no-go. Not only did he not know the majority of the fighters in the group but Ryohei was also present that night. The blonde hadn't returned to the medical room since their last encounter and revelation but Daniel knows in his heart that it would be awkward. He wasn't going to start pushing boundaries now.

There were a couple of other smaller crews here and there but like Workers, he wasn't familiar enough to sit with them. After a couple of minutes debating where to sit, Daniel locks eyes with a familiar face. Said person must have felt his presence and turned but lucky for the Doctor it was a friend. Said individual raises a hand to usher him forward and Daniel takes it as an invitation.

Hurrying forward through the sea of people, he attempts to bypass the members with as little notice as possible. Heads still turn.

"Doctor? What are you doing up here?" Vasco asks curiously, patting the seat beside him as he waves the person over, making space for Daniel.

"Is something the matter? Are you looking for someone?" Jace questions in a hushed tone but Daniel merely shakes his head.

"No, I'm just here to watch the fight like you guys. Figured I was entitled to a 2nd story seat due to my affiliation with the CC" Daniel starts off and the continued confused looks from the Burn Knuckles and probably the rest of the floor was a sign that they wanted a clarified answer. "I was ordered on sick leave. Apparently, I've been overworking myself too much which is untrue. I should be down there helping those fighters after their matches" He huffs and instantly the concern grows.

"You're overworked?" Vasco asks with a frown. "Shouldn't you be resting at home then? Doctor, you need to take care of yourself" He fusses as he tries to survey Daniel's body for any signs of unwellness.

"Nah, I wouldn't be able to rest even if I tried. I'd be too worried about how everything in the CC is going and if I watch it from the livestream I'll get myself worked up even more" Daniel waves off.

"I'm glad to hear that you're invested in helping us fighters that much" Jace remarks, nodding approvingly yet his eyes hold adoration.

"Of course, I've found myself growing fond of most of you" Daniel smiles at the group and whoever is watching him. "I consider most of us to be friends" At this he falters, smiling and shoulders falling.

"Doctor?" Vasco voices out, noticing the change.

"I mean…We're friends, aren't we? Or am I just jumping to conclusions?" Daniel asks brows scrunched in fear as he gazes up into the leader's eyes, searching for an earnest answer in almost a desperate manner. Vasco's breath hitches before he breaks out into a grin.

"Of course we're friends, we're all glad to be considered your friend" He reassured and there was a rumble of agreements, some louder than others whereas a few were in disbelief that Daniel could even think that they wouldn't accept him. This catches the attention of many of the other people around the area but it wasn't the other fighters he wanted to be staring at him.

After that brief conversation, the group returned to watching the fights. Time goes on and fighters come on and off the arena. There were moments when Daniel was watching when he felt anxious. When a particularly nasty punch was thrown or a kick was too harsh. When a person lands too hard on the ground or bends their body too absurdly, in moments like those he would fidget with his pants, he'd bounce his leg in apprehension as he watches Mira and Jay along with the rest of the group rush out to take the patient away.

Did they need him? Was there something too complicated that required special help? Daniel hadn't accounted for the anxiousness when he came to sit on the second floor to watch the fight. There were even a few times where he flinched, not from the battle but from stopping himself jumping right over the edge to help someone when a fight was over. Which would have been catastrophic since he was not sitting on the ground floor like that last time.

Of course, Vasco and Jace noticed his nervous ticks and apparently could read him very well. Jace was the first to act, sliding a hand onto Daniel's bouncing leg and holding it in place.

"They're going to be okay" Jace reassures firmly before providing a supportive smile. Daniel's leg stills and he nods yet the hand doesn't disappear. Instead, the warmth remains and his fingers spread even wider to encompass the entirety of his thigh.

Daniel enjoyed the reassurance enough but once Jace notices him staring he goes to remove the hand. To prevent this he reaches out and places his own hand on top of the Vice Leader, pulling it back down and flashing the other a shy smile.

Jace's extra large ears burn red before he turns back to the fights.

If Vasco doesn't notice Daniel's emotions before he certainly notices the hand-holding going on next to him but he doesn't tell them off. Instead, he reaches for Daniel's other hand and links his own fingers together with the Doctor. Caught off guard, Daniel turns to raise a brow at the leader.

"If you're nervous you're free to hold either of our hands but you shouldn't worry anyways. There are good and skilled people down there, most of which you trained yourself. Have faith in them" Vasco states, leaning close into Daniel's ear to say it. He lifts their linked hands and places a warm yet chaste kiss before dropping it to his lap.

Daniel lets out an amused laugh at the show. How was it that the usually goofy and childish leader could be so reassuring all of a sudden? Or perhaps he had always been this way, was this how he became the leader of such a well-known crew? Either way, it has Daniel flustered enough to lean onto the man's broad yet strong shoulders. Vasco leans his head back on top of Daniel's, accepting the affection. They turn back to watch the fight, Daniel's anxiety being sated for now.

Of course, there were stares yet no one was brave enough to question the three directly for their closeness.

Daniel's eyes flicker off the arena floor to Hostel. A couple of Hostel members were watching but it was Olly who was grinning ear to ear. He gives a discreet thumbs up before mouthing something and pointing elsewhere.

Following the direction he catches sight of the VIP stands. Apparently, James and Goo had also caught the exchange between Daniel and the Burn Knuckles leader despite the distance from where they were sat. They were confused but the sight didn't retain their attention for long.

Daniel also manages to catch sight of Gun turning away as soon as his eyes land on the man. He shifts in his seat, crossing his arms and directs his gaze back to the fight.

Daniel smiles.

Interesting.

On Saturday Daniel is yet again chased away from helping out, he makes his way to the fighter's floor but this time he doesn't sit with the Burn Knuckles. No, this time he's a little more daring with his approach.

"Can I sit here?" Daniel asks the group. He'd caught their attention the moment he entered the area this time around and because their gazes had been following him they had already shifted around to allow for an opening spot.

"Of course" Jake smiles as he gestures to the seat between him and Samuel. He was pleased that the Doctor had chosen to sit with them this time round. He hadn't been blind to the hand-holding and affection that Vasco and Jace had been showing the Doctor the previous night and although it was most likely friendly it didn't ease the jealousy.

"A birdie told me that you're supposed to be resting, I guess that's true?" Samuel asks and Daniel nods.

"Mmm, I am although I don't know why I've chosen to sit between the both of you if I want to achieve that goal" Daniel laughs airily and the sound sends a shrill of pleasure down most people's spines.

"We promise we won't cause you any stress" Jerry pipes up and Daniel coos.

"I know you won't, you're a good boy aren't you, Jerry?" He teases with a pleased smile. Jerry flushes and the others tease Jerry for the Doctor's words. The large man simply gently shoulder-checks Jason and Brad before telling Lua and Lineman to be quiet.

"Maybe it's because you enjoy our company, that's why you've joined us tonight" Samuel chuckles. "Of course, I'm thrilled by the opportunity to spend another night by your side" Those who don't know about their three-way date choke on air at the words. Even those who were nearby and simply listening in were gaping.

"I'm upset that it'll be spent on these hard chairs rather than a soft bed like last time. I still can't believe all three of us fit" Daniel muses, playing along with Samuel's game. The man himself didn't expect it and at Jake's soft coughing neither did he.

"Feeling a little mischievous aren't we?" Samuel questions and Daniel shrugs as he turns to look at Jake's amused face.

"I've been bored. Being banned from being a Doctor has made it so that I've got so much free time that I don't know what to do with it. If I cause a little mayhem to get back at the bastards that did this to me is this just not a little revenge? You'll play along won't you, Jake?" Daniel flutters his eyelashes before providing his own sinful smile. "Anything to piss off the Founders, right?" He adds and Jake relents.

"Oh, what the hell" He sighs as he reaches for Daniel's head, tilting it up so that he could lean down and press a kiss to the top of his forehead. "If it's a scandal you want then who am I to deny it? I did warn you that I would kiss you impromptu if you continue being so adorable" He sighs.

Before Daniel could reply, Samuel was shifting himself so that his head was turned in his direction. Another kiss was placed on his forehead.

"I want to play too" Samuel huffs.

Daniel laughs, delighted by the two and their affection. In return, they only smile.

"Do we also get the privilege of holding your miracle-making hands?"

Daniel could feel the burning gaze staring Daggers into his side.

"Of course" He answers without shame.

"I'm not going to kiss or hold your hand like they did" Johan snorts when Daniel comes to sit by him on Sunday. Daniel chuckles.

"I don't expect you to" He responds as the brunette side eyes him.

They sit and watch the matches in harmony. Whilst Daniel didn't know much about Johan he was at least relaxed around him. The other God Dog members don't interfere or talk to the two, if anything they are trying their best to ignore them.

"You're friends with Zack, right?" Daniel asks and Johan hums in reply.

"I am"

"I've heard some things about you from him" Daniel explains and this time the brunette turns to look at him through a narrowed gaze. "Good things…most of the time, I've heard of good things from Mira as well. They both really care about you" He acknowledges and this time the brunette grunts before crossing his arms.

"Are you going anywhere with this?" He hisses his guard still up.

"I'm just appreciating your friendship. I don't have many close friends who would do what they do. They're loyal and I'm sure it's just as reciprocated" Daniel smiles and this time Johan softens.

"Of course"

The leader was a man of very few words, no wonder his own crew was antsy around him and preferred to tiptoe around his boundaries.

"I also have another concern that I wanted to talk to you about, we don't have to discuss it now and it's only an observation" He holds up his hands defensively to try and show Johan that he meant what he was about to say in a 'I want to help you' kind of way. He didn't want to offend him.

"What is it about?" Johan sniffs, sceptical of the words.

Eyes flickering up to the group that was still minding their own business, Daniel leans in close to Johan's side. The leader stiffens once he feels the Doctor's lips almost pressed against his ear, his entire chest arched into the brunette's side.

"It's about your eyes. I know" Daniel whispers in the softest tone he could muster.

Had Johan not been frozen already he was stock still now. Daniel backs away, eyebrows furrowed as he stares into the mismatched eyes.

"If you need to talk to someone or if you need any help at all, I'm here for you. You don't have to go through it alone. And whilst I'm not an ophthalmologist and it is not my specialty there are people that I know who are." He states warmly and Johan's mouth falls open slightly before eventually he coughs into his hand and nods.

"I'll think about it" It was no argument, there didn't need to be one and Johan wasn't looking to start a commotion that could accidentally reveal his secret. "I didn't know you were so observant" Johan adds with a mumble.

"It's a part of my duty and job. Alas, I'm here for you" Daniel pats the other man's shoulder lightly and the conversation ends there.

Although just as Daniel was going to turn back to the fight his eyes caught sight of a group that had just arrived and were sitting at the end of the row of seats. It was already in the middle of the night so the crew were very late but no one seemed to care.

"If it's alright I'm going to go and talk to someone" Daniel whispers to Johan, eyes still locked onto the group.

"Be my guest" Johan waves off as Daniel stands.

Heading over he couldn't help but internally grin at his luck.

Public had just walked in and in tow was none other than Taesoo Ma.
