Living in another world as a bystander

Chapter 4: A new world

Opening the door and stepping out of it. Cain found himself in the midst of the plains.

Away from the forest he was in, surprised yet Cain accepted it.

Cain did not look back at the forest and started walking away from it.

He finally left that place and he will never return to it, so he walked and continued to do it till his legs could no longer move anymore.

As he walked, he felt the cold, fresh breeze run through his body.

He took a deep breath taking all of this inside. For the first time in over two decades, he finally had this again.

When time did not exist back then, things like this were non-existent.

If there's no flow, there will be no fresh air; this also goes for all the things, sound, smell, and anything that can drive your mind to work.

This was the situation he was in all that time.

He was stuck in a single moment where nothing moved and nothing changed, which means it was pure silence, complete stillness, and complete alone.

So right now, having to feel the air run through his skin and hear all kinds of noise in all directions was a gift for him to have.

Cain took his time experiencing all of this happen and enjoying it till it ended. Looking up he found a giant cloud about to cover the sun, and he watched this with a smile on his face.

He remembered how the sun never left his side, which drove him insane back then. If he wanted to sleep, he would cover himself with his towel, put on his hood, and open his umbrella to make a dark space.

As shadow swiftness passed through him, he sighed and saw a mist leave his mouth.

Looking at it he said: "Shit"

Cain had lived all his life in a tropical country, where there are only two seasons, the Wet season and the Dry season.

Cain questioned where he was currently, was he far in the north where winter exists, and snow happens to fall. If so, he needed to find the nearest town or village before things went wrong.

He knew himself that he would not survive his first winter with only a hooded jacket and a long jogging pants, especially with only a slippers and no shoes in sight.

Even if he wrapped himself with his towel it would not be enough for him to live on with snow falling.

So Cain stopped appreciating the moment and started running with all his might, hoping to find something or someone in these plains.

***

~ Stamina has reached 5 points.

The system's voice echoed within his mind, this is the fifth time this has happened already, since he started running a day ago.

Cain ran all day and night since yesterday hoping to find anything, yet he didn't find anything. Each time the system voice told him his Stamina reached 5 points left, he would slow his pace allowing it to refill.

After half an hour since he heard the voice, he would start running again, continuing this cycle over and over again.

This might seem pointless, but at this time both his Stamina and Agility have increased by 2 points each, making it an eventful.

Right now, he is thirsty, since seventeen years ago, he had not sipped water since then. Cain looked in all directions, hoping to find anything, yet nothing caught his eye, not a hill or a tree at all.

Sighing, he sat on the ground for a bit. A second later, Cain put his ear to the ground, hoping to hear any source of water in his place.

Taking a deep breath, he listened carefully. Taking all the details in his surroundings, from the steps of the tiny bugs under the rocks, the breeze, the rhyme made from the grass, as the wind went through them.

"Come on, Cain, you can hear the system voice. So hearing a water source should be easy for you." Cain encouraged himself as he listened carefully.

"Remember it, Cain, those last years you spent in that place, where you learn your Divine power. Slowly sip into that power and take it for your own, activate it and make it stronger than before."

~ The Divine power: [Divine Senses] have activated. All four senses will be temporarily disabled to increase the sense [Hearing].

As the words of the system echoed within his mind. Cain's range of hearing increased beyond what he could ever imagine, he was anxious about how far he could hear now.

But it didn't stop him from finding water. He listened and listened carefully, making sure he knew all the details from each square meter of area.

~ Drip... Drip.. Plop.

"There!"

He exclaimed, standing up and running to his left. All this time Cain has been running to the east side, taking the idea that he is on the west side of the continent.

With the idea of monster roaming the sea, he concluded that people would make their home in the east where the sea is far and where the mountains and forest are.

If he was facing the east, then right now he is running towards the north where he finds the water source. Cain sprinted like a hungry beast chasing after its prey, starving for days.

As he neared the source, a mole with an armored body popped out from the ground and raised its hand, conjuring a ball of earth.

It looked at Cain, who was five meters away, and squeaked, chanting the spell in its language. It narrowed its sight and shot the ball of earth towards Cain.

~ Shoow

The ball flew through the air going for Cain's chest.

Cain looked at the ball nearing him. As the ball came to him a meter ranged, he crossed his arm guarding against it.

~ You have used the skill: Guard. The attacker will now be put in the state (Confused) in the next 5-10 seconds.

~ The title [Master of skills] has activated. Confused state duration has increased by 10 seconds.

Cain smirked as he heard the system. He stormed from his position and activated his Divine ability [Plants Reconstruction], making his right hand into a vine.

Shooting it to the mole and pulling it out from the ground, he raised the mole in the air and readied himself to slam it to the ground.

As the mole regained its mind, it found itself upside down, on the way to hit the solid ground. It squeaks for mercy only to be ignored by Cain-crack!

Its skull shattered like an eggshell thrown on top of a building. Killing it in one blow.

~ The use of Divine ability has decreased the following stats by 5 stats points.

~ Mana, Stamina, Vitality -5

~ Divine power has decreased by 1 point.

Cain spouted out blood from the use of his Divine ability, unprepared for the first time, he felt the side effects of its used of it.

Back in the timeless world, he can use all his abilities without any form of drawback.

Experiencing the drawback, Cain made a mental note to only use it when he was sure there were only one enemy.

Taking a deep breath, he tapped himself and made his way to the source of water. Leaving the mole body behind.

After walking for two minutes, Cain met the source of water. He bent down, taking a palm of it and putting it on his mouth, little by little refreshing his thirst.
