Livestream: Awakening as Kaitō Kid, Shocking the World

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Heaven’s Net, Total Lockdown!

As an MI5 Investigation Bureau director, Harrison had gained quite a bit of notoriety ever since taking on the task of catching Kaitō Kid.

"Mr. Harrison?"

"You really chased Kaitō Kid all the way here?"

Zhang Yang's arrival in the Eagle Nation had already been publicized through Kaitō Kid's post.

But the fact that Harrison had followed wasn't revealed until after Zhang Yang posted that taunting update.

"Yes, Mr. Carlos."

Harrison and Kaitō Kid were old rivals—just like Tom and Jerry in the classic game of cat and mouse.

Naturally, Carlos wanted to hear Harrison's professional opinion.

"Director Harrison, from the moment you entered the estate tonight, do you think Kaitō Kid has any chance of getting in here and stealing my collection?"

Harrison didn't even hesitate. His response was sharp and direct.

"Absolutely."

Carlos's confident smile froze instantly.

"Mr. Carlos, when it comes to Kaitō Kid, nothing is impossible."

"Every move he makes, every time he appears, it's always beyond anyone's expectations. What we think is impossible—doesn't apply to him."

Carlos had first learned about Kaitō Kid when Swan Lake Castle was targeted.

Because Charles was an earl in the British royal family and the MI5 Investigation Bureau had handled the operation, Carlos had paid close attention.

"Director Harrison, in that case, what do you suggest we do now?"

Carlos had no intention of letting Kaitō Kid steal anything from him. But Harrison's next response left Frank speechless.

"Mr. Carlos, I think we should rest up and get a good night's sleep."

"Kaitō Kid clearly stated in his notice that he won't act until tomorrow night."

Frank was dumbfounded. He hadn't rushed here just to say goodnight and go to bed.

He turned to Harrison, his voice full of disbelief and frustration.

"No! Director Harrison, Kaitō Kid is already in the Eagle Nation. His notice was delivered right here to this estate!"

"You really think he won't make a move tonight?"

There were plenty of things Harrison wouldn't dare guarantee. But this—he could.

"Captain Frank, I absolutely believe it."

"And I'm willing to bet Kaitō Kid is sleeping right now, getting ready for tomorrow's action."

Seeing that Harrison stood firmly by his judgment, Frank gave up trying to argue.

They were in the Eagle Nation now, and he was the FBI's field leader.

Even if Harrison refused to act, Frank had more than enough manpower.

"Mr. Carlos, I disagree with Director Harrison's approach. Kaitō Kid has gotten away too many times in Britain. We have to remain cautious."

Although Frank still respected Harrison's experience with Kaitō Kid, that didn't mean he trusted his judgment.

After all, Harrison had failed to catch the thief time and again.

But to Frank's surprise, Carlos actually sided with Harrison.

"Captain Frank, perhaps you're overreacting."

"I think Director Harrison is right. If Kaitō Kid planned to act tonight, why would he bother sending a notice?"

"And it's already past midnight. I doubt he's coming."

Frank opened his mouth to protest, but Carlos raised a hand to stop him.

"No, no, Captain Frank. I think we should all get some rest."

"Only by being well-rested can we act effectively tomorrow night."

Carlos stood up, ready to turn in for the night.

"Good night, everyone."

Once Carlos had left, the butler, Clover, stepped forward to escort the guests.

"Captain Frank, Director Harrison—this way, please."

Frank was clearly unwilling, but there was nothing he could do.

Carlos had sided with Harrison about acting the next night, so Frank could only stomp out with his team, full of frustration.

After Clover saw them out, the grand golden gates of the estate slowly shut behind them.

"Director Harrison, if Kaitō Kid makes a move tonight and Carlos's collection gets stolen, do you realize what the consequences will be?"

From the start, their partnership had been tense—each clinging to their own opinion.

Harrison spoke in a calm voice.

"Captain Frank, I know how badly you want to catch Kaitō Kid. So do I."

"But please, trust me—he won't show up until tomorrow night."

Frank let out a cold snort and stopped arguing altogether.

He posted rotating guards around the estate—groups of four, rotating two per shift throughout the night.

But Harrison wasn't about to let his men waste energy staying out there.

Right outside the estate, Harrison took his team and left, parting ways with Frank.

Spectators watching nearby, many of whom were livestreaming, quickly noticed the split and flooded the chats with speculation.

[Wait, what's happening? They're splitting up?]

[Wow, they've only been here a day and they're already going separate ways. Can they even work together like this?]

[What? Did Harrison just walk away with his team?]

[Kaitō Kid's notice clearly says it's tomorrow night. Looks like Frank's already prepping for tonight's action!]

[Haha, Kaitō Kid won't be showing up tonight. Harrison leaving is actually the smart move!]

Inside a nearby car, Itō Itsuki watched Harrison's departure with disdain in his eyes.

"Baka. The whole area is crawling with FBI—there's no chance of getting close to the estate!"

"Can Kaitō Kid really pull it off tomorrow night?"

They were already on high alert, and it wasn't even the time marked on the notice.

Itō Itsuki found it hard to imagine what tomorrow night would look like, and whether Kaitō Kid could truly infiltrate the heavily guarded estate.

The next morning, Harrison returned to Carlos's private estate with his team.

He immediately noticed Frank's car parked diagonally across from the gate. It turned out Frank hadn't left at all—he had stayed through the night.

And that decision proved to be a mistake.

Harrison walked up and tapped on the window.

Two FBI agents were in the front seat, keeping watch. Frank and another agent were slouched asleep in the back.

"Captain Frank, time to get to work."

Startled, Frank's eyes snapped open, alert and sharp.

Harrison had trained under similar conditions back in Britain. That kind of mental tension never left—even in sleep.

"Captain Frank, maybe you should go back and get some rest."

"We can meet again this afternoon to discuss how to lock down the estate."

Frank glanced at Harrison. He now realized that Harrison had been right to take his team back to rest.

The agents he'd brought were all visibly exhausted.

"It's daytime now. Kaitō Kid won't make a move."

Frank let out a deep breath. If everyone stayed this drained, it would definitely affect their performance later.

"Director Harrison… you were right. Kaitō Kid didn't appear last night either."

The facts spoke for themselves. Frank had no choice but to admit it.
