Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!

Chapter 279: The Difference Between Nodes (5)

Before Aoni could digest all he'd read, even more information appeared on his Attribute Notice, causing him to shift uncomfortably against the wall because he was now getting a bit overwhelmed.

When it comes to the case of controlling Monsters or beings brought forth from Ark Stones, that is something which could be considered as a grey area, because there are far too many methods of such a thing to count

Some Classes allow for taming of beasts and monsters, others form bonds with them and develop a level of understanding, whereas there are also darker sides, but the result is always the same: submission

Unlike Travelers who have a built-in method of controlling their Summons so long as they are a Lord, it was basically impossible to guarantee the loyalty of the beings summoned through the use of an Ark Stone

If the Host were to go back and read through many of the war textbooks, they would find how the use of the monsters varied, but unless the being summoned is tamed or controlled, they would essentially be wild to the core

Also, something to note, if the Host were to utilize those Humanoid Ark Stones outside of the reach of their Flume, the individuals summoned would retain a good portion of their memory

'Shit, so basically I would cause a resurgence of beings, reviving an entire civilization and potentially giving life to a new enemy.' Aoni thought while wearing a stern expression.

Precisely, that is why it is advised that the Host either uses the Ark Stones in the normal Lord Summoning Method, or doesn't use them at all, because it would become a hindrance to their future Progress

Still, that isn't to say that the beings summoned from the Ark Stones in the normal method wouldn't have the opposite effect

Thanks to the LoS, they would be transformed into normal summons, albeit on the stronger side of the spectrum, but still valuable nonetheless

'Which…explains why there were certain nodes you warned me against handing over to Archie back then…' Thinking back to the moment when he received a spam of notifications when passing out resources for sale to his older brother, it all suddenly made sense to Aoni.

At the time, he didn't put much thought behind the AN's actions and simply followed along like a good sheep, but now that he knew the truth behind the stones, Aoni couldn't help but cast a thankful gaze toward the floating ethereal chatbox.

Indeed, moving along the categorization of Ark Stones is relatively straightforward, as the Host has found out, they use a similar color scale as regular Nodes; however, the contents of the node aren't necessarily as straightforward

In order to better understand the number of beings along with their maximum power limit, the Host will first need to know how to read the runic inscriptions, as there is hidden information stored within the carvings

For example, the Stone shown to Charlotte Thurston

'Woah woah, hold up a second, we can delve into that in a moment, but first I want to know why there wasn't anything differentiating between the two stones in the first place when using my Inspection Display…' Clenching his fists and peeking over at his sister, who was still frozen in thought, Aoni resisted the urge to wave his hands around like a loonie.

There is a rather simple explanation for that…

'And that is…'

…

*STARRRRREEEEEE*

…

'You're gonna say something asinine like I was too dumb to understand…aren't you.'

Incorrect, a response that isn't too disrespectful is being generated

'Wha…fuck you.' Feeling his left eye twitch just as much as his hand was itching to smack some sense into the chatbox, Aoni huffed before crossing his arms over his chest and waiting patiently.

Without first spending an adequate amount of progress points, certain levels of information are naturally going to be held back from the Host. Due to the volatility and nature of knowledge pertaining to Ark Stones, it would initially do more harm to the Host if they knew the stones weren't mere Nodes from the beginning

'And what, now that I've done my research, was I deemed worthy to know the truth or something?'

That's…not entirely incorrect, but the better explanation would be that the Host's will, moral compass, and most importantly, sanity were being tested before this information would be passed on, that and it requires a vast amount of resources to gather said information

Moving forward, there will be a minor cost associated with obtaining specific information on the individual relics

'I mean…fair, I guess…' Shifting uncomfortably, Aoni couldn't help but feel he was being disrespected in some way, yet with how the Attribute Notice worded that last bit, he unknowingly let that go.

The Host needs to understand that Ark Stones aren't merely a tool to bring forth new summons; they are also an extremely valuable, powerful, and dangerous tool, something which was stated earlier, could shift the entire power scale of Terra

'Wait, I know you said that earlier, but I still don't get it. Why would they affect Terra?'

Because…they aren't limited to being used here on Genovia, like how Node Stones are.

'Ho…ly…shit…' Reading that last message, so many things suddenly clicked in place for Aoni, why the information cost so many points, why his Attribute Notice was so insistent on him not selling them back home, all the way down to how it wasn't just travelers but also natives that could use them.

Ark Stones…could be activated and used to summon foreign beings on Terra.

That thought was like a nuclear bomb detonating in his mind, especially when he remembered the 4 Pink Ark Stones, and 9 Purple stones…and 1 Black stone were resting safely in his Inventory.

If he brought them back to Terra and activated them…a full-scale invasion was likely to occur, wherein ancient beings whose power FAR out scaled that of the planet's powerhouses would be allowed free rein to do whatever they wanted, unhindered, and unrestrained by anything other than the lack of Ambient Energia.
