Chapter 278: The Difference Between Nodes (4)
**We're goin all in, Folks, Get ready for a large and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFO DUMP**
Collapsing onto the ground and leaning against the wall of his office, Aoni left Charlotte to the ground-breaking revelation he'd dropped and drew his knees toward his chest.
It was one thing to realize you'd gotten your hands on something good, but another entirely to understand you now held the hopes of an entire civilization in the palm of your hands.
The sheer amount of power he could wield on a whim wasn't lost on Aoni either.
Yet even with this knowledge, he still felt the answer to his questions were missing.
How are they made?
How can a Native use them?
Why did they work with his flume?
How is it possible to control the monsters that come out of Ark Stones without something like a Link of Subordination?
Are these Ark stones truly a different form of summoning altogether?
Answers: 25,000 Progress Points
Like a man lost at sea receiving a life preserver at the pivotal moment between life and death, a single notification appeared on Aoni's Attribute Notice. Still, the cost in progress points was more than enough to give him pause.
The host shouldn't even be receiving this information, as it could potentially create a power vacuum on Terra, just accept the point cost
'Take them and give me the wisdom I seek, oh great chatbox from oblivion!' Blinking twice, Aoni reluctantly spent the required points, while letting out an exasperated sigh.
From the beginning of known history, there have always been multiple systems of power, known as classes. Warriors, with their physical combat skills, Mages, Wizards, and other Wielders of Magic, Rangers such as archers, bowmen, gunfighters, the list goes on and on, however there was one Class Archetype that would inevitably over power them all in such a way that it changed the entire workings of life as it was known
And that was the emergence of Summoners
Unlike other classes, who essentially stuck to their basic manner of fighting or lifestyle, only Summoners were given such a wide variety of skills, abilities, and utility that they inevitably became the Main form of Strength
However, in the beginning, Summoners were relatively weak, incapable of integrating magic like the Casters, and incapable of using weapons like the Warriors or Rangers, as their main strength wasn't that of their own body, mind, and spirit, but instead in the way they grew alongside their Summons
Over time, many branches were formed in the Summoner profession, and as it would turn out, they would end up integrating each of the other classes into their own system of power, creating what was known as the first Traveler
Yet even with the emergence of the Original Traveler, it wasn't smooth sailing in those days, as there were still too many variables working against him, foreign entities being among the largest threats
When the Original Traveler reached the pinnacle of power and completed integrating the final Power System into its abilities, only then did a true shift occur, resulting in beings such as the Host
Attributes, Passives, Stats, it was all the work of a higher being merging everything into a singular streamlined platform known today as the Traveler's Display
Yet, this power was only ever passed on to the descendants of the Original Traveler, a being from a different dimension, leaving those from the land known today as Genovia outside its scope
What the host has found, those Ark Stones, are merely a relic of the past, used by Summoner Class beings
Ark Stones were one of many sources used in ancient times by Summoners, or technically any being capable of utilizing Energia to bring forth powerful creatures
Although their origin is unknown, there were many different methods of obtaining Ark Stones, the most obvious of which was as drops from Dungeons, which are also a class-based product from ancient times
Regardless, since the only requirement of using Ark Stones is a corresponding level of strength when compared to the color of the Runic Inscription, anyone was able to utilize them by applying the standard method used by the host. Apply Energia, Crush, Place
Unfortunatly, all information pertaining to the actual creation of Ark Stones has long since been eradicated from history, and due to numerous factors such as them having a shelf life, and no longer being in the pool of items available as drops from Dungeons, it is near impossible to come in contact with such relics of old
This is the extent of what can be told to the host pertaining to their first two questions
In reference to the third question, "Why Did they work with the Host's Flume" That draws upon the fact that at their core, Ark Stones are a product meant for use by Summoners, and with Traveler's being an all encompassing branch of said Class, the fact that they could be utilized shouldn't come as a surprise
Yet, instead of summoning the contents of the Ark Stone in the old way, when the host activated one, the Territorial Flume instantly recognized it as a usable resource and integrated the Ark Stone into its own abilities, thus using its power to bring forth the four summons at once
As it turns out, since the host is quite dense, and doesn't ever check their personal Energia Expense, they weren't able to recognize that the amount drawn in by the Ark Stone was several times the amount which should have been used
For now, it is best that the host views their stock of Ark Stones as SUPER Summoning Nodes, as each one will be held to a standard much higher than any normal Summoning Node
For a moment, Aoni sat there in silence, reading over the contents of the long info dump as if it were some type of fairytale, because in all honesty, that's exactly what it sounded like.
However, after seeing firsthand that a single Stone brought out four Monsters that broke the power scaling he knew after years of schooling, his only option was to accept the information wholeheartedly.
