Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon

Chapter 111: Barkhide Stag

Kael had decided to head south since that was the area with the most powerful Beast Tribes. His target weren't the top ones, but a few average Beast Tribes he could handle.

He couldn't leave this side, knowing they could encounter powerful beasts at any moment.

The danger was everywhere, but this area was much more dangerous, so it was logical to send their strongest here.

He dashed from one tree to another at incredible speed, as even the broken rocks, vines, or roots, nothing could stop him.

How could they?

His [Beast Sense] had leveled up in mastery, so he could now sense everything pretty clearly in a much larger area, allowing him to run at the full speed he could muster.

If there were any beasts that could get his attention, Alpha would alert him. There was just too much unnecessary information, which he had to ask Alpha to filter.

He hummed an unknown song as he thought, "I wonder what we will encounter next? Fox waifus? Hehe!"

[Master... we can hear you.]

Kael rolled his eyes upon hearing Seth's helpless voice in his mind. It wasn't like he couldn't stop himself from transferring his thoughts to them, but it just slipped his mind that he had already activated that skill.

[Master, what is waifu?]

Kael grinned hearing Jon's curious voice and replied, "Say, little lion, have you ever had a crush on anyone?"

[Master, I'm a big lion. Please don't call me that. Also, I have crushed many before. But what does that have to do with this? Are we going to crush foxes? Is that why it's called Waifus?]

Kael choked hearing that and almost had an urge to facepalm. How could he forget that this world was very uncultured when it came to such matters?

No worries! He was there to raise their standards!

Just as he was about to give an explanation, he heard Kiona's voice in his head.

[Master... I found something interesting. Come here!]

He raised an eyebrow and stopped on top of a dark brown bear who was eating its prey silently. As soon as it noticed a weight on its body, it became angry, but it was only short-lived.

Soon, it felt a soothing and longing feeling and forgot everything related to Kael. It simply let him sit on top of it and continued the feast.

Kael petted the bear and smiled, "What happened there?"

[Aiyo! Master, just come and see for yourself. I think we found the next beast tribe we can add to our nation.]

"That was fast!" Kael was truly surprised.

After all, he had expected them to waste a few days at least in finding the right tribe. There were a lot of factors they needed to consider before deciding to take that tribe with them.

But if Kiona was saying she found one, Kael believed it. He trusted her.

[I know, right? When did you become so lucky?]

[I was born lucky. Now hurry up because they seem to have noticed my presence. If they gather up, even I will die.]

Kael patted the bear once more before rushing towards the location of Kiona. He also asked Alpha to share it with the others so they could reach there too.

The distance was longer than he had expected, but it seemed that Kiona had really improved a lot in all aspects.

In such a short time, she had covered such a large area.

"Well, I also covered a lot, so there's that."

In just a few minutes, he got close to her and finally a few presences registered in his mind through the skill. There was still quite some distance between them, but his skill detected them easily.

He stopped and focused on the image forming in his head through the skill.

Around a thousand meters before him, Kiona was hidden behind a boulder while there were a total of six powerful presences trying to trap her in a circle.

But she was unaware of it, as her sole focus was on the single presence feasting on fruits hanging from a tree... or at least, that's what he assumed.

Kael was quite sure that these beasts were using some skill to conceal themselves, and even the [Beast Sense] he had shared with Kiona couldn't detect them.

This was yet another thing he had learned later on. All the skills he shared with others were received in their basic form, so if they wanted to reach his level of mastery, they would have to work hard.

This was the reason she couldn't detect them, but her senses had certainly alerted her of danger.

There was no way someone like her would believe that a harmless single beast would come to munch on fruits.

It was a trap.

But it was also because of this that she had alerted them.

"Interesting! They can not only hide from her but also make her feel danger." Kael smiled and dashed forward with a glint in his eyes.

On the other hand, Kiona was silently sitting behind a boulder, staring at the beast before her. Her body had no movements, and even her breathing had stopped.

It was as if she had become a statue.

The beast before her was also something she recognized clearly. Her teacher had taught her well in this area, at least.

It was a stag deer with bark armor growing from its skin, moss antlers that were glowing faintly, and wooden hooves that seemed to be padded, as they made no noise while walking.

It was a Barkhide Stag, Tier 2 of the Deer Evolution Race.

Even if she didn't know its Evolution name, she could have easily guessed it right because of how much the name suited it.

She observed it... him... silently as he ate the bright red fruits that were unfamiliar to her.

As everything seemed peaceful, she raised her guard up. There was something in the atmosphere around her which made it seem like everything was good and serene.

That feeling gnawed at her heart, making her vigilance increase. Actually, this just confirmed her guess that the stag wasn't alone.

There were a few of its friends around her.

'If there are only a few of them, I can probably handle them. But it'll be troublesome if they are of D-Rank.'

Kiona thought calmly. She wasn't really scared, as she was confident in defeating all of them on her own. The only reason she was hesitant was because she wanted them in their nation.

But that decision was on Kael, so she had to wait and keep an eye on these beasts.

Nonetheless, it didn't seem like luck was on her side, as she felt plants growing beneath her at an incredible pace.

Before she could even react, dozens of green plants grew around her, entangling her legs with them.

Kiona completely ignored it as if the attack didn't matter to her and began to look around. She had even used [Beast Sense], yet she couldn't find anything, which frustrated her.

'Calm down! Teacher did say they're good at using the forest for their advantage.'

[What are good at using the forest?]

She wanted to answer, but the plants around her legs were getting denser and also stronger. She could feel that if she didn't get out soon, she would be stuck for quite some time.

'What cautious nature!' Kiona thought, as a burst of flames erupted from her legs, burning all the plants in a second.

She thought if she pretended to have fallen for their trap, they would come out. Clearly, she was wrong.

'Master, they have someone with intelligence among them. Perhaps a Tier 3 Evolution Beast.'

She quickly reported to her master while standing up. Looking back to the tree, she realized that the stag had also vanished somewhere without her notice.

It didn't come as a surprise to her, as they were good at hiding and also didn't make any sound. While she was paying attention to her surroundings for its companions, the stag had managed to run away.

However, she didn't let her guard down.

[Good! They are still there. You can pretend again if you want.]

Kiona considered her master's words before shaking her head, 'Whatever! Master, can I just go and do some... what do you call it again? Deforestation?'

[For now, the word you're looking for is Wildfire, and no. I want to observe the situation first. They are likely from a tribe, but they'll be alerted if you light up the forest.]

'Then what am I supposed to do with these annoying plant eaters?' Kiona asked in annoyance.

Before she could get an answer, something huge fell from the sky and landed right before her, shaking the whole ground and destroying a few trees.

"Who dares harm my sister?" Jon snorted in arrogance.

Kael, who had stopped some distance away, burst into laughter hearing that, while the other siblings rolled their eyes at this brother of theirs.

Kiona patted his broad back and said, "Are you forgetting that I'm actually stronger than you? But thanks!"

She smiled and turned to her side, "I've found you!"
