Chapter 100: Skills
[A/N = Don't have time to edit so I'll do it later. Sorry about this.]
While learning Rune Language was very difficult, messing with other's soul was even more dangerous and difficult. One minor mistakes could cause them to fall to madness.
So Kael didn't want to enter that area even if he mastered the Rune Language. It was way too Dangerous.
Hearing his words, the Lion family was disappointed but tried their best not to show it on their face.
Seeing that, Kael smiled and asked, "Are you guys forgetting about my Ultimate Skill?"
Only then the three of them remembered the fact that they could share skills with him and even gotten a few of them. They had used those skills to win quite a few battles.
"That's right. My plan is to use that to create a similar structure as how Gods and their system works," Kael said. "Once we expand, I will have a huge library of skills that I can copy and give to my other subordinates. It'll be limited but in the long run, it isn't worse than what other races do."
This was the idea that he had come up with when he learned that beasts couldn't get new skills. This normally wouldn't have worked with Alpha, or not so easily but she was handling all these troublesome tasks for him.
Since this would create a system similar to how God's system worked, Kael had a feeling that he would step into the first step of becoming a God.
His ultimate skill really was an important clue on becoming God.
His words surprised everyone including Rias who didn't know about his Ultimate Skill. She narrowed her eyes as they turned silvery glow and tried to look Deeper in the Kael but she was instantly cut off by something.
A blood tear dripped out of her eye as she wiped it away quickly and thought, 'He is a dangerous man. These signs also can't be a coincidence. Who is messing with the River of Fate?'
While she was engrossed in her thoughts, Kael continued, "So, yeah, you don't need to worry about that. I'll handle it as your leader. Have some trust in me."
"We trust you with our very being, Master," Seth said with a lowered head.
The other two also did the same action, as they truly felt thankful they had match someone like her and chosen as their lord.
"Meh, let's focus on the subject here," Kael waved his hand and said. "Oh yeah, the ways to learn skills. So, lastly we have something new which I didn't think would be easy or even possible for current me, but Rias helped me realise that I can actually do it."
Rias glanced at him hearing her name.
"It's to learn the skill ourselves," Kael smiled. "Just like how I learned the Astral Vision and how to transfer the knowledge to someone else. You can say it isn't a skill, but in my opinion every action that has anything to do with Astral World is a skill."
He folded the dough and continued.
"It's just a theory of mine, so don't believe it completely. It's basically that since the Rune Language is a way to communicate with the Astral World to get desired results, why don't we use other means to communicate with it?"
Seeing their confused look, Kael stopped and considered it for a moment. Then, he said.
"Consider it like this. The skills are basically information imprinted on our Souls in Rune Language. When we use skills, we actually show the Astral World those Runes and it gets the information written there. Like, for a Fireball Skill, the information would be something including the Fire Element, it's size and it's trajectory. Basically everything."
They finally began to understand some things so Kael smiled and continued.
"That's now the Astral World gets the information about the things we need and it uses Mana as fuel to deliver the results. Now, what if we used a different method to communicate?"
"But what if Rune Language is the only way to communicatem?" Kiona asked.
"Good point and that's why I said it's just a theory," Kael nodded. "But I was able to use Astral Vision without the usage of Runes so I do think that my idea can work."
They were still confused with all the information dumps they were getting so Kael decided to use a demonstration to explain them.
"Alright, let's assume that I can't use the language that you lot use and we need to communicate," Kael cleared his throat and spoke in modern English. "I want an Apple."
For the lion family, Kael's mouth just moved and no sound came out which confused them.
"Master, are you perhaps pretending to be mute?" Jon asked.
"No? I was speaking...wait! Fuck!" Kael cursed as soon as he realised the problem. Tо rеpоrt еrrоrs, plеаsе visit thе оriginаl pоst оn М|VLЕМРYR.
[I apologise, Master. I didn't warn you.]
'Nah, I'm just too dumb.'
Kael didn't blame her for his dumb mistake.
"I could hear you clearly," Rias spoke from the sides. "But I also detected a strange...energy around here."
"That should be the restrictions set by Tharnyx," Kael sighed. "He knew how to speak modern English and left behind notes. But he was afraid others will decipher easily so he left some restrictions."
Rias nodded in understanding and glanced at the lion family who were looking at them with confusion.
"Why are you two talking with lips?" Seth asked, still confused about this whole situation.
"I like the wording of it, but that's not what's going on here," Kael came before the stone slab and said. "Looks like we need to use a different example. Rias, do you know any other language?"
"A lot of them," she replied flatly.
"Good! Please speak something in language," Kael asked.
"Khestraà alibîaàh tuu shouuuæ!"
Kael ignored her gibberish since he didn't understand it anyways and said, "Now, let's assume that our language is Rune Language which helps us communicate with each other. We are the Astral World and Rias is a normal person so now even though she is trying to communicate and tell her desires to use, we can't understand meaning Astral World can't understand."
"And if it can't understand then it can't do anything," Kiona said with bright eyes.
"Exactly! Rias need to use our language which is Rune Language if she wants to communicate or that's the assumption but there's really no need for her to learn the language to show her desires to us."
Kael turned toward Rias and asked, "What did you say to us? And use English to tell me that."
"I am hungry," Rias answered while staring at the dough. For some reason, she felt that it could be cooked into good meal.
Kael's lips twitched upon seeing her eyes full of hunger and greed. He shook off his wild thoughts and said, "Noice. Now let's try to tell that to everyone."
Rias nodded.
"We will use body language for that," Kael said before turning over to the Lion family. "Now, I will try to show something to you with my body without speaking and you need to guess. Whoever guess correctly will get an extra fish tonight."
His words caused everyone to fire up as they all looked at him excitement, anticipation and determination.
Even Rias looked at him with those eyes so Kael told her, "You will get extra anyways."
"Thanks," Rias nodded and backed away.
'Hungey Raccon,' Kael sighed before he began making different signs like opening his mouth and making the action of shoving his hand in his mouth, then pointing at belly and all.
At first, they didn't understand but they weren't dumb enough to not even understand those signs.
Sadly for the other two, Jon was the first one to speak, "You want to eat food, Master."
"Tsk! I was going to say that."
"I was just opening my mouth."
Jon sent a victorious smirk at the two of them, making them having thoughts of beating him up and snatch his portion.
"Good and that's what Rias was saying in that language," Kael nodded in satisfaction. "So, as you can see, we communicated without the use of Rune Language or rather our language. The Astral World understood what the other side want and can now fulfill it."
"Are you saying that this is how you mastered Astral Vision, Master?" Kiona asked. "But this type of communication also depends on many factors, right?"
"It does but it's still safer than other methods like using Rune Language," Kael nodded. "It's a theory so I'll study it and tell you all the results later so don't think much of it."
That made all of them stunned and flabbergasted. If it was so useless then why bother explaining so much?
Kael chuckled seeing their expression and said, "I did all that so you can better understand what Skills are and how they work because they will make your Soul Stronger aside from Evolution which is hard to get by."
That relaxed them and made them realise the benefits of knowing so much about the skills.
